Kurt smiled as he woke up. It was Friday night and it was one of the three nights that Brother Johan would take him outside to play. Kurt was bouncing off the walls with excitement but calmed down when Johan arrived.

"Kurt calm yourself. I promise that we will go outside soon enough but you must calm down or we will be going no where. I cannot keep you hidden if you make so much noise!" He said still the happy Monk Kurt had come to love these past four years.

"Yes Brother Johan." He said slipping on his cover up so he wouldn't freeze in the cold German air.

Brother Johan lead Kurt outside to the Orchard of trees all in perfect rows. Kurt swung on them like a gymnast would a beam. He teleported from tree to tree and tried so hard to keep it down to a minimum.

The wind in his fur and the calluses on his hands tingled when he swung. He was his happiest when he was flying through the air. Laughing and talking to Brother Johan as he was walking along on the trees. Everything was perfect. His entire world was perfect.

"Brother Johan when do you think I will be able to go out and let people see me?" Kurt asked as he took a break and walked along on the trees.

"I don't know Kurt. I hope soon so perhaps you can properly join the monastery." Johan said with a smile.

"I mean. I see all of these wonderful places in your books and all I want to do is go there and see them. Those oceans, and valleys. The cities! Oh Brother John! I want to go to New York!" He said swinging.

"I want to see the tall lady who holds up the flame for America!" Kurt said as he got into that position and smiled cheesy at Johan.

"Yes Kurt. Im sure that you will do that. If god calls you there then even I can't stop you." Johan said as he looked at the watch he had.

"Brother John! What about you? I mean I know you are a monk and that you never leave but do you dream about leaving like I do?" Kurt asked him.

"Not really Kurt. Its not my dream to go and see the world like you. It isn't my passion. But if you wish to do so then I will do everything in my power to help you get to New York and see the pretty lady." Johan said as he too mocked the pose of the Statue of Liberty.

Johan and Kurt kept walking along, talking about all kinds of things. Even politics. Johan tried to keep Kurt up in German politics and even some things that included all of the world.

Kurt felt something prick at his arm and thought it a bug so he went to swat at it in mid sentence as he was reading his bible in the trees. Talking softly so only Brother Johan could hear. Or so they thought.

What Kurt felt wasn't a bug. It was a tranquilizing dart. He went to swat and panicked when he saw the dart. "Brother Johan." He said as he felt his arm numb. He fell from the tree with the book in his hand and Johan was with him in a flash. "Kurt whats wrong? Are you ill?" He asked concerned for him.

Kurt shook his head as he sat up. "No. Dart. Run! We must run!" He said as he stood up to look around and see some men begin to chase them.

"No Kurt you must teleport out of here." Johan insisted as he looked at Kurts furry blue face.

Kurt put the book in his overcoat and looked to Johan. "Brother Johan. I don't know if I can teleport us both so we must run." He said holding his hand.

"Kurt they are here for you. So you must leave me behind. Don't worry. Teleport far. Go exactly one mile past the Monastery to the north alright? I will meet you there later."

Kurt shook his head with tears in his eyes. "No no! They will kill you Brother Johan!" He said desperately. "I will not let them!"

"Kurt they will kill us both if you don't teleport." He said stopping and looking down at Kurt. That furry blue face. So full of wonder, hope and imagination. "I promise I will be alright. But you must go." He insisted as he himself was holding back tears.

"No! Br-No! You are like my father! Please don't make me leave you!" He said tugging them to go along but Johan fought back to keep them still as they heard people in the distance.

"Kurt I am an old man. I will slow you down." He said ruffling his hair. "They will not hurt me. I will meet you there. I promise Kurt now go!" He demanded stepping away.

Kurts face was stained with tears now. "Brother Johan…." He said as he looked so sad. His world was falling apart. "Forgive me." He said.

"I love you Kurt. You are amazing. The world will see that one day. I know it." He said smiling looking at Kurts face. The one he knew deep down he would never see again.

But the smile faded as a shot rang out. A bullet went flying and hit Johan in the chest where his heart was. The tears he kept in came out as he looked up at Kurt. His final moments he saw the child that he helped raise. The child that came to him so broken. A child he could call his son.

Kurt screamed as loud as possible. A wail of sorrow as he reached for his mentor. But another shot was fired that brought Kurt out of the trance. He let out another cry as he teleported but his emotions where in such turmoil that he didn't get far. He felt a hurt in his leg, his lower calf as he stood near to Monastery. More men were waiting for him there and fired when they saw his demon like silhouette.

Kurt fell to the ground in pain but tried to crawl away. He knew this pain. It was like the pain he had all those years ago in the shoulder. But his crawling was in vain as he was stopped. The last thing he really remembered was a brute force hitting the back of his head then nothing.

A/N: So did that give you some feels? Who were those people? Well…. If you have theories then put them in your review and you can see who got it right in the next chapter!
