Gritting her teeth, the auburn-haired girl picked up rocks and started throwing them at the very source of her not-so-mild headache. " Just. Get. LOST!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, only to receive an amused stare from the offender.
"Whatever. I'll play with you next time, pussy!" After dodging every pebble thrown at him, he stuck his tongue out rudely, and went back to his stupid house.
"What did he do this time?" A pretty orange-blonde woman asked as she cooked lunch. Leia sat at the dinner table, sulking a bit.
"I was minding my own business when he suddenly threw a bug at my face!" she whined exasperatedly. "And when I ran after him, he flipped my skirt and peeked at my undies!" She kept slamming her small hands unto the table in utter annoyance. "A-and that's not the worst part! A-armin… he saw…h-he….W-waaah… I really, really hate him!"
Petra went near the child and calmed her down, gently patting her head. Now that, Petra thought, was very rude of the boy. She could remember the two of them playing happily when they were younger. What on earth, she contemplated, happened that made the two so distant to each other? "I think it's time to tell—"
"No!" Petra was shocked by the outburst. "Don't tell Daddy, he'll scare away my other friends…" Leia buried her face in the orange-blonde's stomach, silently crying her worries away.
Carefully tugging a few strands behind Leia's ear, she tipped her face upward so that it would meet with hers. "Dear, sooner or later, we have to tell Daddy about it or it'll get worse in the future."
"Tell me about what?" the said person walked up to them, his jacket tossed flawlessly at his shoulder. Petra's face went red, whether from shock or 'cause of Levi's very presence, it was hard to tell. "Why're you crying, soldier?"
Leia wore a scowl on her face. "I'm not crying! I helped Mommy cut onions," she thought for a minute. "And ended up losing a finger…"
Levi raised his eyebrow at that. "That so? Show me." He reached for the girl, who suddenly hid behind Petra. "Just c'mere and let me see."
Tilting her head a bit, she peeked at Levi for a split second and proceeded to hide behind Petra. "Oh, don't worry, Mommy used some sticky rice cakes to put it back." She showed her finger and arced it once in a while. "See? Fully-functional!"
Levi wasn't convinced with the ten-year-old's little story. With his critical eyes, one look was all it took for Petra to give it all away. A muttered 'I-thought-you-promised-me' left from the auburn-girl's lips. "So," Petra said. "What do we do about it?"
After putting in much thought, "What else is there to be done?" The man grabbed his swords and promptly urged the little girl to follow. "but to teach that brat a lesson."
Both females squeaked 'EH?' when they saw the man approach the front door. They both tried to stop him from leaving the tiny cabin. Leia wrestled one of his legs while Petra, despite being shy on making contact, hugged Levi from behind and dug her feet on the ground.
"Let go of me!" His irritated voice made Petra back off. Levi was waiting for the girl to let go as well, but he saw her wearing a determined face, a face he once saw when she swore to protect her friends. He sighed, raising the girl by the back-collar. "His name was, Eren Jaeger, right?"
The following day, the sun was at its highest peak. It was afternoon and yet there was still no sign of the auburn-haired girl. Eren paced back and forth, thinking that maybe, just maybe, he pushed the girl a bit too far. "No." He muttered. "I didn't do anything that bad. Not at least compared to Jean."
The mention of that horse-faced jerk made Eren's inside go nuts. He punched the wall near him, muttering under his breath. "Why is it always my fault?" He remembered when he and Lei were playing by the stream. They were having so much fun, until Jean showed up with his ugly face.
"Hey! Leave Eren alone!" The auburn-haired girl tried to grab Jean by the arm. The immature silver-haired kid just laughed. He was very much taller than both of them, and was much faster which made him have the advantage. He kept throwing water balloons at Eren, who was still trying to make his way to the two. If it weren't for those stupid, slippery stones, he would've kicked Jean's ass by now.
As a last resort, Leia kicked Jean at his shin, making him howl in pain. "Why you little—!" He raised his fist up, an attempt to hit the girl. That attempt was short-lived as a man grabbed his fist before making any damage. "L-levi, sir?!"
The stream was near their cabin. Levi made sure to check up on the auburn-haired girl once in a while, and so when he heard Jean's scream, he knew something was up.
Throwing an evil glare at the kid, Levi growled. "You weren't planning on hitting Leia, were you?" he pointed at the girl, who went near Eren to help him up. "You wouldn't want to get on my bad side, do you now?" His grip on the boy was getting stronger.
Jean shook his head nervously. "N-no! I-I was just swatting mosquitoes away from her!" He looked like he was about to shit his pants. Serves him right. He ran away right after Levi let him go.
Levi looked wistfully at Leia (who was now holding Eren's hand firmly) before returning to the cabin.
A few days after that, they decided to play somewhere else, since Levi's constant stares were a tad bit disturbing. And of course, the horse-faced jerk just HAD to show up and ruin their moment again. But Eren wasn't bothered by that. No, something else bothered Eren very much.
Why the hell was Jean picking on Lei? And why the hell was Lei even paying that horse-faced jerk any mind at all?
Unexpectedly, the two of them got very close. Not a day passed since the two didn't hang out. Even Armin and Mikasa hanged out with him. MIKASA. Out of all the people, WHO WOULD THOUGHT THAT MIKASA WOULD HANG OUT WITH THAT HORSE-FACED ASSHO— Someone flicked Eren's forehead. "Stop growling. People'll think you're crazy."
"Shut up, Mikasa." At least she didn't leave him behind. Not like a certain someone.
Mikasa played with the grass they were sitting on. "If you really want to talk to her again, you should do something about it. Idiot." She stood up and walked away. Always the mysterious type ei?
"?" How in the…? Eren barely talked to her about his problems, so how in the world did she know? Or was he that predictable? It's either that or Lei is just really dense. Or Mikasa is secretly a god. "…"
Whatever. Let's do her advice then.
Eren was standing in front of her cabin. The stream where they splashed around, the trees where they climbed on, the hill where they'd race down, all of it made him feel very nostalgic. He tried to make himself look presentable, and knocked.
The beautiful orange-blonde opened the door. "Oh, Eren. What brings you here?" She knew exactly why he was here, but decided to keep quiet about it. Eren wasn't sure whether Leia was telling her parents on him, and so played it smooth.
"Is Lei around? I need to talk to her…"
Petra tried to act surprised. "Leia? I'm not sure… She hadn't returned ever since yesterday… I wonder what happened." Eren gulped, sweat slowly forming. Petra looked around outside, pretending to look for the girl, "Oh no! What should I do? My poor baby is missing!"
He felt really guilty, and tears were starting to form on his eyes. This is not, Eren thought, what I wanted. He started wiping his tears away. All I wanted, he hiccupped, all I really wanted was… to change everything back to the way it was.
Seeing that the boy was already crying, Petra asked him. Eren answered between his cries. "I-I teased Lei, to get her attention," He breathed deeply. "But now she hates me, and I'll never see her again..." Petra somewhat felt sorry for the boy, and gave him a comforting hug.
"You do know that you don't have to do anything special to catch her attention, right?" Petra said as she strokes the boy's hair. Eren could only tilt in confusion. Petra looked at him in the eyes. "You're always on her mind, Eren. Don't ever forget that, okay?" she smiled, and wow, she looked so angelic. But wait, he thought, then where is Lei?
"If you really want to look for Leia, go to where your heart is telling you." Petra said. Wow, that was really cheesy. Petra giggled a soft laugh as she rubbed Eren's hair. "I know it is." Whoa, Eren thought, did I just say that out loud?
Petra hummed amidst his thoughts. "You didn't say anything, if that's what you're wondering. It's just written all over your face. I'm sure that you're the type of person who's having trouble keeping his emotions, right?" she winked playfully.
As Eren made his way to where his heart is planning to, Petra clasped her hands behind her back. "I wonder why Leia doesn't see how much you care about her…"
"Mommy, who are you talking to?" The auburn-haired girl looked up from where she and Levi were sleeping. She covered her mouth when she let out a big yawn. "And where is Eren running off to?"
Levi, who just woke up, said in a dazed manner. "He'll come back here for sure, only to realize that you were just messing with him." Leia narrowed her silver eyes, apparently not getting the conversation.
Petra could only laugh. "If he does come back, then his heart does know where Leia is."
"That," Levi retorted "or he came back with a vengeance."
FIN.
