I was just about ready to leave when Ginny came into the living room with only a tee shirt on and two pairs of pants in her hands. "Which of these pants make my butt look fuller?"

I started to laugh and said, "I can't really tell when they aren't on you."

She threw both pants in the air and said, "I'll wear my dark jeans."

Ginny and I couldn't help but laugh when we were with each other. She was quirky and I was weird, but it worked out in a new way that I hadn't imagined before. She came out in the dark jeans with her winter coat and hat. "I just need gloves… wherever they are…"

It had snowed a considerable amount last night and since it was the first time we had to deal with snow, I let Ginny slide for being a little late. She came back into the room with gloves in hand and cheerily said, "ready!"

I would have taken her hand, but the crutches prevented me from doing much else other than hobbling along. I wanted to parade Ginny off like she should be treated, but I would have to settle with her babying me a bit.

We went down to Diagon Alley for our shopping and on our way through we saw very few people outside due to the cooler weather. Even The Leaky Cauldron was barren from visitors. I leaned over toward Ginny and commented, "Eerie, isn't it?"

She spoke under her breath, "I thought it was a bit cold out, but this is downright scary."

We hurried through and found ourselves in the midst of Diagon Alley, where the few people who were on the streets were peddlers.

"Care to buy a necklace? A pretty girl should have a pretty necklace…"

"No thank you." Ginny said coolly, pushing my arm farther forward to move me along.

"Flowers for your girlfriend on a cold day?" The man had no teeth and the flowers he had were nearly dead. I said this time, "No thank you."

We poked our head into the nearest shop we could find. Coincidentally it was Madame Malkin's. Ginny wanted to know if there were cute onesies for the baby, but I found it difficult to shop for a baby we didn't know the gender to.

"I wore blue most of the time," Ginny rebutted, "of course it was mostly because I had hand-me-downs and I only had brothers, but gender shouldn't determine the clothes you can wear."

"Weasley is right Longbottom, listen to her." A blonde haired man crept from the adjacent aisle into ours. "After all, I wouldn't want to cross Weasley here, have you seen what she can do on a broom?"

"Piss off Malfoy."

"Don't be so touchy Longbottom. I have only been nice here." Malfoy smirked, lifting up his hands to show there was nothing there. "I could have made far worse comments, but I am not going to share." He looked me up and down, especially taking a long glance at my crutches. "What did you do to earn those, fall over?"

But before I could hobble over there, Ginny interjected, "He was attacked last week, Malfoy."

"Oh yes. I vaguely remember reading that in The Daily Prophet. So sorry about that, by the way." His attention was now directed toward Ginny and it made me slightly uncomfortable how long he was looking at her. "Speaking of which, I also read an interesting article on you the other day Weasley. Not returning to Quidditch next season? Did you realize that your time was better spent somewhere else making sweaters or something?"

Ginny remained calm and took deep breaths, "surely you read the headline before reading the article, Malfoy. I wouldn't expect you to be grabbed by merely the mention of my name."

"Actually Weasley, you're wrong. I first saw the picture of you and then I decided to read the article." He smiled at Ginny and it made my stomach turn, "So who was it? I hope you aren't still in love with Potter. He was honestly a waste of your time. Now that he's taking random holidays from work and getting thrown out of The Leaky Cauldron-"

"What do you mean Harry got thrown out of The Leaky Cauldron?" Ginny interrupted, getting into her fiery mood. Malfoy seemed to enjoy this torture, but all I wanted to do was kick him in the pants.

"Well… if you must know Weasley. Harry Potter was in The Leaky Cauldron over a week ago and was thrown out for causing a ruckus and for being piss drunk."

"What day exactly was he thrown out?" Ginny implored, ready to punch Malfoy if he didn't answer promptly.

"The day before he left for holiday, so a week and two days. Apparently he was so drunk he had to crash in a store to sober up. I think he was in your brother's-" With these words Ginny had thrown the clothes on the ground and walked out of the store. Before I was able to chase after her, Malfoy turned me around and said, "Longbottom, don't screw it up. Also, watch out for Potter, he's a real pain in the leg."

With that, Malfoy was gone and all I could do was hobble after Ginny. She was meters away from me down the alley and I tried to catch up to her without falling.

Ginny

I marched into the store where Ron and George were trying to keep busy by stacking and restacking items. With the bell on the door they were alarmed of my presence. "Hello Gin-"

"You let Harry Potter sleep in your store after he was kicked out of The Leaky Cauldron from over intoxication." I was livid. I had never felt so boiled up in my entire life. Maybe that was an exaggeration, but I was pretty pissed.

"Now Ginny-"

"I don't even want to hear it. I don't even want to hear your sad story excuse about how he was so drunk and you felt sorry for him. I honestly don't care."

"Ginny, he was in a bad place. He needed to be somewhere safe, just like you did." George was trying to cover his arse, but it wasn't working.

"I'm sure that Harry had just found out that he was having a baby out of wedlock and that was his reason for getting belligerently drunk and had to come stay with you."

Ron piped up next, but his voice was stronger than I expected it, "Maybe it was because Harry was sad about the one girl he actually loved found someone and was happy. Maybe Harry felt badly for what had happened and wanted to take it back. Maybe Harry felt so shitty that he had to help himself forget that you had broken his heart."

"I know that you may vaguely remember this detail, but Ron, Harry broke up with me. Harry messed up on his own. He broke my heart, not the other way around."

"Don't be so ridiculous Ginny," Ron said, finally letting out his feelings, "you weren't the only one hurt by your break up. Don't you think Harry was torn up too? Don't you think Hermione and I hated seeing you both so sad? Don't you think it tore me up inside when I heard you crying yourself to sleep at night? So no, your heart was not the only one broken when that relationship ended."

There was a pause. I hadn't known Ron had heard me all those nights after the breakup. I didn't realize that Hermione and Ron were forced to choose between us and they both chose me. Harry didn't have anyone to go to. He was alone.

An audible ding let me know that Neville had finally made it into the shop. He was out of breath and holding onto his leg. "I. want. Harry's. house. investigated."

Neville was so fatigued that he had to remove his crutches and sit right on the floor.

"On what grounds do you want to search it?" George asked, curious to what Neville's answer would be.

"Malfoy." Neville finally caught his breath and continued, "He was in Madam Malkin's and he said 'watch out for Potter, he's a real pain in the leg'. I want both Malfoy and Potter investigated."

Ron started to say, "We don't have good enough reason-"

"When was it that Harry Potter left your shop?" I asked George, but he didn't dare look into my eyes.

"He chose to leave early the next afternoon. He kind of got into a row with Ron actually…" Ron kicked George in the shin, but I wasn't going to leave without a reason why Ron and Harry were fighting.

"So let me get this straight. Harry Potter left this shop angrily in the early afternoon, just hours before Neville's attack. And you say that we don't have a good enough reason." My next comment went to Ron, "What did you two have a row about exactly?"

Ron looked from Neville, to George, to me, and then he did another rotation. "He said something about you that I didn't like. That's all Ginny."

I was taken aback, Ron had been defending me? "But what did he-"

"Ginny, please." Ron implored, "I don't want to repeat it. I will tell the Aurors to search Malfoy's and Harry's places. I might have a few other guys come in from Ireland. Although, Harry is pretty much known anywhere, so it will be hard to find someone who is unbiased."

Neville had found his way back to his feet and said, "All I ask is that you look. I just want some piece of mind. I'm not saying Harry did it, but Malfoy is a creepy bloke."

Ron sighed and said, "Now, I need you both to understand that this is a serious accusation that you are making. If we pull Harry into the investigation then he will be forced out of work until it is over and if he is found guilty he will be removed from the job."

"If Harry is innocent then he won't mind you have a look inside his house. He would be glad to be cleared of charges and he could go on his merry way." I then let out a sigh and turned to Neville, who wasn't looking at me or anyone else. His attention was directly on the floor and he refused to look up.

"I just want it to be over. I don't want to worry about walking down the street. I don't want to worry about the safety of my own apartment. I want to be able to say goodbye to Ginny in the morning without the gut-wrenching feeling that someone is going to go for her next, or worse, the baby. I couldn't live with myself if that happened." Neville's voice trailed off into the distance.

We all stood there silently for a moment before Ron said, "We'll find whoever this is Neville. I promise."
