If Leah hadn't known any better, she may have thought her bronze haired boyfriend with the power to read minds was taking her deep in to the woods to kill her, but since she did know better the thought was quickly pushed out of her mind. Her second thought was that he was taking her deep in to the woods to discuss leaving some more, but he had said both Rosalie and Alice helped him with the surprise so it couldn't be that. Deciding it would be better if she just waited to find out what it was, she continued to follow him in silence for about seven or eight more minutes. When he reached back to grab her hand so they could walk through the brush together, she almost lost her breath at that beauty in front of her.
There was a small clearing between a cluster of trees and in that clearing sat a small table with two chairs and on the center of the table was a lit candle and two plates of some sort of pasta along with a bottle of wine and two wine glasses. The petals from different wild flowers had careful been spread around the entire area and the aroma was almost intoxicating. Leah couldn't believe Edward had put so much effort in to this; not to mention the fact he did all of it in such a way that she'd had no idea he had been planning something.
"Edward, this is just wow." She breathed stepping forward and running her fingers over the lace table cloth. "I can't believe you could find the time to do something like this. You know you really didn't have to go to all this trouble, I would have been fine just spending some one on one time with you back at my place or yours."
Edward pulled out a chair for her before going to sit across from her. "Well this is a special evening and so I wanted to make sure it would be a night to remember. Do you like it or is it a bit much?'
Leah reached across the table to touch his hand with her own. "I think it's great Edward. I haven't had much experience when it comes to what is to much when it comes to romance so I may not be the best judge, but I think it's perfect and I doubt this night could get anymore perfect than right now."
"I'd like to test that theory." I mind reader stated softly before motioning to the bottle of wine. "Would you like some wine? I don't much care for the stuff, but both Alice and Rosalie assured me it was a romantic dinner must. Feel free to drink as much as you'd like and if we run out and you want more, I have some behind the oak tree to your left."
"I think I will have a glass." The winged woman replied before she realized there was no corkscrew. "I think you may have forgotten to bring a bottle opener."
"I think I may have put it under your napkin." Edward tried to hide his excitement as she started to lift up her napkin; the last thing he wanted was to ruin his real surprise.
"That's a weird place to put a bottle opener." She mumbled before lifting up her napkin to find not the bottle opener she was looking for, but rather a small black velvet box. With shaky hands the winged woman picked up the box and slowly opened the lid. Inside the box was a small diamond ring and in the center of the diamond was a small emerald, the exact shake of Edwards eyes. The band itself was silver with intricate roses carved along the outside part of the band.
"Leah Clearwater," Leah had been so mesmerized by the ring she hadn't seen or heard her boyfriend leave his seat to kneel down in front of her. "I know we haven't know each other for very long, but I have been waiting for you my entire life. When I was a little boy I used to look up at the stars and wish I would find my soulmate and you may not believe it, but I wished her to have all the qualities you do. Leah, you're my soul mate, I know it with all of my heart. You complete me in ways I cannot even explain and if you let me, I want the chance to give you the life you deserve. I guess what I am trying to ask is if you will do me the greatest honor of becoming my wife. Will you marry me?"
"I-" For a few moments Leah wasn't sure she would be able to say anything. Her mind was at war with her heart. Agreeing to marry Edward could be dangerous for the both of them if Sam ever found out, but she shouldn't let fear run her life should she? It took her another moment to decide that this time she was going to follow her heart instead of her head. "I'm not sure how good of a wife I will be, but I am willing to find out if you are, so yes, yes Edward, I will marry you. So do I get to wear the ring or is it only for me to look at longingly?"
Immediately her fiancee took the engagement ring out of the velvet box and slid it on to her ring finger. "It's a perfect fit, just like I knew it would be. Leah, you are going to make an amazing wife because we love each other and that is all that really matters. As soon as we leave this place we can have a wedding, it will be huge and you won't have to hide it. I even have a few ideas for a home where we can start and raise a family and we can even get a dog if that's what you want. I promise to make your life the best I possibly can."
"You already do." She told him before leaning forward and pressing her lips against his. "As much as I would love to make love to my fiancee, I have to admit that I am kind of hungry and this pasta smells so good I can't wait any longer. As soon as we are done eating then I am going to make love to my fiancee for the first time. I know we slept together before, but we weren't engaged then so technically we are doing it for the first time as an engaged couple."
