Regeneration comfort

The TARDIS sends the 11th doctor back through time into the first doctor's TARDIS to comfort the first doctor before his first regeneration which will be soon.

3. Smiles of sweet sorrow

The eleventh doctor didn't say anything, he simply smiled at the first doctor, and the first doctor made a sad smile back, feeling that this man was the final version of him. The eleventh doctor flicked some switches on the console, put his hands on the console and looked at the scanner just like the first doctor always did to show him that some things will never change. The first doctor gave another sad smile, knowing that seeing his final incarnation had to mean that his time in his original form was coming to an end, but also of course happy to see that some of his traits would always be the same, and of course it was good to see the man he would one day become, and the final man he would be.

Authors note: Due to the canon of the show the first doctor would forget that this happened but the TARDIS sent the eleventh doctor to see him so the first doctor could be comforted about his first regeneration before it happened.
