Nirohs large crown was smooth, hard, and warm. But, as Raven swept her hand across his crown, she realized that it wasn't all completely smooth. Every now and then, her fingers would hit a notch. Some were only a couple of inches long, others even longer. But all were incredibly deep. Most had attempted to heal over, and created small ridges along his crown.

On in particular made a strange mark across his muzzle. Battle scars, she thought as she leaned down and placed a kiss upon it. Niroh then exploded into a rumble of deep purring. Raven laughed softly, enjoying the feel of vibrations on her body.

Damn, thought Niroh, sitting perfectly still so she could continue to stroke him. His mate was beautiful, petite, but nonetheless beautiful. Too small for birthing young just yet, but that would come much later on. It was much too early to determine if she had accepted him. They still needed to bond and establish a strong relationship. But for now, he was grateful to just be at her side. However, her being pressed against him was not exactly helpful with his urge to mate. Neither was the scent she was emitting. He could tell that she was becoming more in need as the time passed. Soon, he would have to leave her before he upset her with his advance to bond. Advances he could not help to control if he wanted to.

Raven noticed her body was becoming heated and a soft tingling was beginning to travel down her spine. She shifted for a moment and caught sight of the weeping girl from before. She was sitting with her legs crossed and face in her hands, crying. Raven skimmed her hand across Nirohs crown once more before she stood and cautiously made her way over to the girl and the women surrounding her.

"What's wrong?" she the other three women. "Is there something we can do?"

A young woman with short brown hair and red stripes spoke up. "I don't know…She doesn't even want to look at him." she motioned towards the concerned and confused Xeno a couple of feet away from the girl.

Observing, the watched as the poor Xeno would slowly drag himself inch by inch up to the girl. Once he reached her, he would begin to purr and gently rub his head against her back in an attempt to calm her.

But the frightened girl would shy away and cry even louder, causing the young Xeno to flinch away.

…..

Niroh was upset to see his mate walk away. Until he saw the reason. There was a cluster of females surrounding one of their own. He began to walk up behind his mate but several low growls warned him against getting any closer. A few meters from the females were their mates. Niroh understood their slight aggression, for none of them had bonded to secure their claim with their mates.

With a small grunt, Niroh made his way to his superior who he had noticed was part of the group.

What is the reason of this?

Inan seems to be having a difficult time making a connection with his mate. The females are trying to help but the young one is stubborn.

What exactly is it? Niroh asked, angling his head trying to see past the women.

She does not like him near and cries when he is.

Niroh titled his head back and forth, assessing the situation.

He shook himself once and began to walk over to the cluster of females. Several males growled at his proximity to their mates. Niroh let out a deep resonating growl, expressing his authority and the males quieted.

He walked around the females to Inan, the troubled young Xeno. The young male looked up from his pitiful position. Brother! Please, help. I am at a loss.

No, Niroh said simply.

No?

Inan questioned. But I don't know what to do!

Niroh shook his head. Go up to her and lay down by her side.

But-

Do it, authority rang in his voice.

Inan lifted himself from the ground and walked over to the girls side. She immediately began to cry louder. When Inan settled down she tried to scoot away.

Wrap your tail around her so she wont move.

The young Xeno glanced up at his superior nervously. Won't she feel trapped?

Do it…

came Nirohs annoyed response.

…..

Oh no. No no no. this…is bad. thought Raven. The girls mate was wrapping himself around her. This couldn't be good for her emotional state. The girl would faint, scream, go into hysteria…it was just all gonna go bad…very bad.

Raven stepped forward to try and maybe urge the male away, but her own mate stepped between them and gently pushed her back.

"No, wait." She whimpered.

The rest of the males created a boundary between their mates and the troubled couple. The women dared not object, or at least, not for now. Instead, they watched on in awe as the young male began to purr loudly and the girls cries slowly began to die down, little by little.

Once the girl laid her hand on Inans muzzle, the other women let out small sighs of relief.

Content with how the situation had worked out, Niroh continued to gently push his mate away from both the couple and the small crowd.

Raven arched her brow. "Ha, if you're even thinking that you're gonna be able to push me around, you got another thing coming, buddy." she smirked.

Niroh seemed to playfully snort at her but continued leading her away. It didn't matter that he had grown up with the Xenomorphs around him, he still felt uncomfortable with the other males near her. But once he was satisfied with the distance between the others, a dull alarm buzz sounded. He and the other males looked around nervously.

The first meeting with their mates was over. It may not have been completely successful, but it was time for the women to leave.

Some women sighed, some whined, others laughed at themselves as they realized they felt hesitant to leave. Raven was one of those.

Wow, she thought. I cant believe I don't really want to leave. Raven tried to hide her smile behind her hand. Had she really just fallen in love with this creature, just like that?

This great creature who had wrapped his tail around her and laid his gorgeous crown against her. Could he really be the supposed other half of her soul?

"Rave!" someone called, causing her to snap out of the dreamy state. Turning around, she saw Sarah.

"C'mon, it's time to leave." she smiled.

Smiling, Raven looked down and softly traced the edge of Nirohs crown. "Bye, Niroh." she whispered and backed away to join her friend.

Niroh rose from his crouching position and watched his mate leave his sight. The meeting, in his opinion, was far too short. But he supposed things had to by little by little.

Brother! Sentant called as the tiles of the enclosure began to rotate and close.

Niroh put on a burst of speed and he and Sentant were out in seconds. Outside, his brothers had gathered in small groups. Malek made sure all were present and initiated the trek back to the hive.

Not far from the facility, one of them had suggested a hunt. The group split into three groups and only Niroh, Malek, and three others were left.

Niroh slowed his pace as his superior sauntered over to him.

Your mate, she is awfully small, Malek teased.

Niroh growled playfully. That, she is. He agreed. But she is young…in time, she will grow.

Young…Malek repeated. And you are not?

Slightly offended, Niroh paused. I am much older than most of my brothers.

But much younger than the age we used to live to.

Niroh shook himself. That was before we were at war with our own.

No sooner than he had said that, a loud piercing screech sounded from above in the trees. Malek and Niroh barely had enough time to recognize the enemies screech as dozens of Xenomorphs poured down the trees and surrounded his small group.

It was an ambush. And they had little chance to escape in one piece.
