Lightningwing's POV

The next morning I was awakened just before dawn by the sound of footsteps. I lifters my head to see that it was the girl, Astrid. I watched her get up and walk to the end of a cliff that we had camped by, I was curious as to what she was doing all by herself so I got up and walked over to her. When I caught up to her she was siting near the edge of the cliff staring at the sun as it started to rise. She sighed and said something that I couldn't quite hear and then said in a louder voice "I miss her." As she said this she seemed sad as she said this and since I knew she couldn't understand me I went to wake up Toothless to see if he knew.

"Toothless" I said shaking him awake,but when he still didn't get up I nudged him harder until he was somewhat awake.

"Lightningwing" He said with a yawn "what do you need?" He went in getting into a sitting position.

"Why does Astrid seem so sad?" I asked. "She was sitting on the cliff watching the sunrise when she said 'I miss her' and then she got really sad.

"Oh that's because of her old nadder, Stormfly, she left Astrid and became her little sister's dragon a few months before we left Berk. He paused for a moment before he continued "ever since then Astrid hasn't been able to find another dragon to bond with she always gets sad when she sees the sunrise because that was their favorite time to fly." He finished in a sad tone.

"Why couldn't she find another dragon I mean weren't there anymore an the island?" I asked him curiously turning my head.

"there were plenty of other dragons but nine of them were right for her she said that 'they didn't have that intelligent spark in their eyes' So she never got the chance to bond again."

"oh" I muttered "I'm going to go sit with her." I replied before bounding back to the cliff.

When I got back to the cliff Astrid was still in the same spot not having moved at all since I had left. "Hey girl you like watching the sunrise too? "She asked rubbing behind my ears. I responded with a purr and a bid of my head as I knew she couldn't understand me.

"You know you're really smart just like your brother." She continued getting up "Come on let's go get Hiccup up then we can get some breakfast.

As she got hiccup up Toothless and I went fishing in the streams near the camp. "Toothless" I asked as I lifted my head from the water.

"Yeah Lightningwing" he responded s's he moved to face me.

"Do you think that Astrid would like to bond with me?" I asked "Because she seems very nice and someone like that shouldn't feel so lonely and sad."I finished

"You know I think that she would be delighted to bond with you I think that she wants to be her dragon as well. He replied before we both went back to fishing.

"really but aren't you guy's leaving today?" I responded remembering a what he had said the night before.

"Well yeah we were just stopping here for the night but I thought that you would come with us."

"Well of course I'll go with" I replied happily "Now let's go to the humans!"

"Your going the wrong way"

As soon as he said this I realized that it was true and that they had indeed set up camp in the opposite direction that I was going. "Oh well now I feel stupid"

Hiccup's POV

I was starting to pack up my supplies into my bags so that we could leave the island when Toothless' sister came up followed by Toothless who was going at a slower pace. I get the feeling that he's the older sibling of the two. They came out of the trees and while Toothless came and sat by me his sister ran up to Astrid and started to nuzzle her hand.

"Aw Astrid I think she likes you" I said with a smile since no dragon had been like this around Astrid since Stormfly left her.

"I think you're right" she laughed as she petted her. As she continued the female night fury looked up and made eye contact with Astrid who slowly extended her hand and turned her head. The night fury then proceeded to press her snout gently into Astrid's hand. After she broke the contact Astrid spoke "hmm you need a name." She moved towards the female to I inspect her. "How about Bluemoon?" She asked. The night fury shook her head. I saw Toothless gesture towards her with his wing, and as the female mimicked the gesture I saw a small patch of white scales in the shape I alighting bolt.

"Astrid" I called as I pointed towards the mark. "look she's pointing at that patch of scales in her wing." I turned to the dragon "Do you already have a name?" I asked her at which she nodded an affirmative. "Well that mark is on your wing..." I paused for moment thinking "What about Lightningwing" she smiled at me and sat back.

"Wow Hiccuo you got that on your first guess". She smiled. "Unlike the last time"

"yeah can you please not bring that up I think it makes the dragons uncomfortable." We turned to look at the dragons who in turn looked away from us as we started to laugh at the awkward looks on their faces.

We decided to delay leaving the island until later that day so we could get Astrid and Lightningwing situated.

"Hey Hiccup am I still riding with you and Toothless since I don't have a saddle?"

"Just a minute Astrid I have just the thing" I responded,walking over to my bag. "Here try this" I continued as I pulled out a spare saddle that I carried with me in case something happened to the current one.

"You know Hiccup you're probably the only person that carries a spare saddle" she said as she shook her head and called for Lightningwing.

Toothless POV

"There ya go girl a perfect fit" Astrid said as she buckled the last strap on the saddle. "You go get used to the saddle why I go question why Hiccup on why he carries a saddle that obviously too small for Toothless." Astrid finished as she walked off to find Hiccup.

"Toothless" Lightningwing said quietly from where she was sitting behind me

"What is it" I asked turning to face her

"Thank you for not leaving without me." She continued

"Well obviously I wouldn't leave you behind I promised mom that I would protect you and besides I wouldn't leave my little sister behind."

"Really bro really you would never leave me behind" she responded sarcastically.

"I'd never leave you behind again and sorry about that time but to be fair I only left you behind that one time so you would be safe.

"Sure and then you were captured by the queen"

"Lightningwing, Toothless lets go it's time that we leave" Hiccup called. As we ran over he turned to Astrid and told her that we needed to keep moving south until we were far enough away from Berk.

"Hey Lightning be careful with her on your back I don't want you guys falling out if the sky. She nodded and then we were off flying even farther away from Berk.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I meant to write this sooner but I got busy with homework and projects. who else watched the macy's parade and saw the Toothless ballon because I thought it was pretty cool that they made one of him. Anyway for those who are wondering what's going on back at berk and when they're going to figure out they left and that kind of stuff you'll find out in the next chapter. Also I will write Hiccstrid fluff later in the story but I don't write it now because I'm not good with romance and that kind of stuff. And just know that I aim my updates for once a month or sooner so if I kept you guys waiting I apologize for that.
