Thank you so very much for all your reviews! I really hope that you are all still around and that you enjoy this chapter!
The team was sitting in the living room of Nate, Sophie and Audrey's apartment expect for Sophie who kept pacing back and forth. They were all dressed nicely because they were going to go out to dinner to Sophie's favorite French restaurant. Sophie's parents and sister were on their way from their hotel. Sophie spent the week stressing about this night and seeing her family again. It also didn't help that her husband started giving their daughter driving lessons as well. There was a knock on the door and Sophie stopped her pacing and froze. Audrey approached her mother and grabbed her hand while Nate answered the door. Nate greeted Sophie's parents and sister assorted them to the living room. Sophie remained where she was with her daughter on the side of her holding her hand. Nate officially introduced Amira, Charles and Sonya to Eliot, Parker and Hardison. Amira then approached Sophie and Audrey. She studied her daughter and granddaughter for a moment. Sophie was clearly a wreck and Audrey was unsure what to do. Amira looked at her daughter and waited until she met her eyes before speaking.
"Golam, breathe."
Sophie did what her mother said and then Audrey finally spoke.
"What does "Golam" mean?"
Amira then met her granddaughter's eyes and answered her question.
"Golam means "my flower" in my native language Farsi. I have been calling your mother that since the day she was born."
Sophie seemed to have relaxed a bit until her sister spoke up.
"Yes, I guess we should all refer to as "Golam" because we don't seem to know what your name is these days."
Sophie gave her sister a look and squeezed her daughter's hand a bit before responding to her sister's snide remark.
"No, you will not. Muma is the only one allowed to call me that. My name is Sophie Devereaux or Sophie Ford or Sophie Devereaux-Ford… Either way my first name is Sophie. I am Sophie now. Hardison legally changed it for me. So you may referred to me as Sophie."
Sonya just rolled her eyes while Amira and Charles each gave Sophie a small smile. Nate then took his chance to step forward and speak.
"How about we all start heading to the restaurant. I am sure we are all hungry."
They all started to make their way to the door when Amira comforted her daughter and took her in her arms. It took Sophie awhile to embrace her back but once she did her mother whispered in her ear.
"Happy Birthday my dear Sophie. I am so happy to be here to celebrate it with you."
Sophie didn't know how to respond so she just gave her mother a small smile and nodded. Once they let go of one another they all made their way to the restaurant. Sophie's birthday dinner went well. Sophie and Sonya were actually civil towards one another. After they finished their dinners the waiter brought Sophie a cake with a bunch of candles on it and they all sang her happy birthday. Nate wanted to ask Amira about what Jack thought he had on Sophie but he figured that night wasn't the right time or place. His wife seemed to be at a peaceful state at the moment and he didn't want to ruin it by bringing up Jack Walker. So he decided to enjoy spending his wife's special dinner smiling and laughing with those he loves. After they were all finished and ready to go Nate asked for the check but the waiter said it was taken care of. He looked around the table where everyone was talking to one another and tried to figure out who it was but once Charles made eye contact with him he knew it was him and Nate nodded his head in thanks. Then they all made their way out of the restaurant and decided to all meet up at Nate and Sophie's apartment to give Sophie her gifts. Once they got to the apartment they all settled in the living room and each person handed their gift to Sophie. The first gift Sophie opened was from Eliot. Eliot handed Sophie and envelope and when she opened it her reaction was a mix between shock and a bit horror.
"It's private cooking lessons with head chef from a 3-Michelin star restaurant in Switzerland. He'll be in the states for a few weeks and he is an old army buddy of mine." Eliot explained to everyone. Sophie smiled at her friend for his thoughtfulness in trying to get her to cook a thought that frightens Sophie a bit.
"Thanks Eliot. I sure hope it goes alright."
Sophie then picked up a box and when she opened it she discovered a pink tazer inside and she knew right away who it was from. Sophie couldn't help the smile she gave to the giddy blonde on the couch next to Hardison.
"Thank you Parker. I am sure I will find some use for this."
Sophie then picked up another box and inside was one of Hardison's creations.
"That there is the iSophie 2013. That phone does anything and everything you ever want."
"Thank you, Hardion."
Nate then handed Sophie another envelope. Sophie just about gasped after she read what was inside.
"Oh my god Nate! I can't believe you did this! You are going to pay to get my theater renovated! Ahh it is going to look spectacular! Thank you so much!"
Sophie jumped inside her husband's arms and she couldn't help but to give him a big kiss. After Hardison made some kind of noise did she break a way and continued opening the rest of her gifts. She then picked up another box and inside was a beautiful deep plum cashmere sweater. It was from her sister.
"Thank you, Sonya it's beautiful."
Sophie and her sister shared a smile and then she reached for another box that was a bit big so Nate helped her place it on the coffee table. What she found inside brought her back to her childhood and made her tear up a bit. Inside was this gorgeous vase like the one her mother had in her childhood home. Her grandmother also had a similar one. It was a tradition for every woman in her family to receive one once they had a home of their own. Sophie gave her parents a teary eye smile and she said all she could possibly say in her eyes. Her parents nodded as if they understood what she was trying to say. That was the last gift.
"Thank you all so much for these wonderful gifts. I love them all. How about we have some more cake?"
"Wait. What about Audrey? She didn't get you anything? You didn't open a gift from her." Parker pointed out. Sophie gave Parker a look as if she shouldn't have done that while Audrey gave her a look between embarrassment and anger.
"It's okay Parker. Audrey, it's okay you didn't have to get me anything. The fact that you are here is the greatest gift I could ever get."
Audrey gave Parker one last glare before looking at her mother.
"Well I do have something for you. I made you something. I just wanted to wait to give it to you later when we were alone… But since Parker brought it up I will give it to you now."
Audrey got up and went to her room while the entire team gave Parker a look.
"What?"
No one responded to Parker and soon Audrey returned with some kind of photo album that was beautifully decorated. Audrey sat on the side of her mother and handed it to her.
"Sorry I didn't wrap it. I didn't want to ruin it buy wrapping paper around it."
"That's okay. It's lovely."
Sophie then turned the page and she couldn't help the tears that fell from her eyes. Inside were pictures of Audrey when she was a baby. Then as she went through the album it was as if her daughter was growing up before her eyes. After she was finished looking through the album Audrey spoke.
"I made it like a timeline. I didn't know if it was going to make you sad or happy. I just thought you would want them."
"Oh my baby girl I do. I love it. I am so happy you gave me this. This means so much."
Sophie wrapped her arms around her daughter and held her for a while once she let go she gave everyone a smile. They all then got up and went into the kitchen and had some more cake. They sat, talked and celebrated Sophie's birthday into the late hours of night. Sophie thought that this was the best birthday she had ever had.
…..
The next few weeks went by fine. Audrey got her license and she helped her mother out at her theater. Amira and Sonya also helped out. Sophie's parents and sister decided to stay in town for a while to be able to spend more time with Sophie and Audrey. Sophie and Sonya seem to be getting along and acted more like sisters. The team still didn't take on any jobs so Nate found other ways to keep Eliot, Parker and Hardison busy. One of the things that Hardison did was to find Amira and Charles and Sonya an apartment to rent while they were in town. Everything was going well; a little too well which Nate couldn't help but to question it. Sooner or later something would have to give and one week later it did.
