A/N: Here's a fun little chapter! And you were right, it's Lauren! I hope no one thinks bringing Lauren back as a "villian"-like character isn't horrible! Love you all :) I really apologize if it gets set up weird on the site but I don't have a normal typing program and this one came with my computer so bear with me please!
"Em? Em, wake up," A soothing voice seeped into my dreamland. I moaned and rolled away from the voice.
"Alright then," and suddenly the bed disappeared from under me. My eyes flashed open to Tobias's face, inches from mine.
"I see you're awake now." Tobias smiled. Me, on the other hand did not.
"What the hell. I was about ready to punch you in the head! Don't surprise me!" Tobias's smile did waver as he put my feet on the ground but kept an arm around my waist.
"I'm sorry I scared you." I opened my mouth to protest but he continued, "but breakfast is set on the table and I thought you might be hungry."
I nodded my head, "yeah I am a little hungry. We barely ate anything last night."
Now Tobias's smile fell.
"About that, are you okay? I know it hurt you to see your aunt-"
"She's not my aunt," I interupted, "my aunt wouldn't be here trying to ruin us. My aunt would be at home, trying to save us. There is no point in calling her my aunt, just Lauren." At that moment I felt like telling him about the rescue team that was being sent in a day. I knew I couldn't though.
"Well wasn't that moving." A voice came from the door. We turned and saw Lauren standing at the door. She was wearing a freshly pressed grey pant suit. You would never know that she use to finger paint for hours with my baby sister in tye-dyed shirts and bell bottom jeans.
"What do you want?" Tobias asked in a poisobed voice, his arm tightened around me.
"Nothing to do with you, werewolf," Lauren sounded disgusted saying that word, "I would like to speak with my neice."
Tobias looked at me and I tried to stand taller.
"Fine. Let's hear what you have to say, Lauren." Tobias nodded. He glanced at my "aunt" then kissed me quickly on the head. I interally winced as Lauren looked as if she were going to throw up when she saw the romantic gesture.
'How quickly he forgets we're suppose to hide us from them.'
Lauren glared at him as he slid past her.
I sat myself down onto my bed. I watched carefully as Lauren sat at the desk, facing me. For a moment we only stared at each other.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" I asked, leaning against my pillow and crossed my arms.
"You know, your father must be very disappointed with you that you got caught. I'm not surprised though. He never knew how to keep people safe." Lauren said.
"Dad is probably worried about me. Same with mum, Prim, Cody and the rest of my family." I replied using the same dry tone as she was.
"Why do you think you're here, Emily Jo?"
"Because pigs started flying and you lost a bet?" I decided that I'd switch between sarcasm and seriousness during this conversation.
'Just to keep things interesting..'
"Because your parents are genetically altered. It was suppose to fix them but it didn't. It just made them worse. Now it's all messed up in you, not your siblings."
"Shoot, is that why the doctors freak out everytime I need an x-ray?" Lauren gave me a half smile. It was cold with not even a little joy.
"I understand why you would be joking about this. Your parents or, your father actually, taught you to be cautious of the world and everyone in it. But us? We're here to help you."
"Please. You work for the Edison Group. Again. Do you not remember killing Liz?" I noticed a slight wince from her, "so yes, my dad taught to be cautious. Cautious because the people I'm suppose to trust are liars."
Lauren folded her hands in her lap.
"Well, that word is a little harsh. I know I am not a liar. I never lied about working for the Edison Group. No one asked, so I didn't tell. Not a lie."
"When?" I asked, looking at my hands. I didn't have to clarify because I knew Lauren understood what I meant.
"The day after your mother told me she was pregnant with you. Her pregnancy with your brother had gone smoothly so I figured her next kid would be messed up," she tilted her head to the side, "and I was right. So I joined back up, promised I would help fix the threat and here we are."
"So why are the others here? If I'm the threat, why would you drag them into this?"
"It isn't a surprise that they are special. Why else would they be here? Cato is extremely rare. The kid is a vampire-werewolf hybrid. Daire, poor sweet Daire is the decendent of the first witch. Well, all witches are but she is a straight blood line. Her power grows everyday inside of her but never shows until the day she blows." Lauren stood up and headed towards the door.
"Wait," I stood up, "what about Tobias?" Lauren turned to face me.
"Oh him? He's just a normal werewolf. That thing is here as leverage."
"Leverage against what?" I questioned, my voice barely coming out of my throat. Lauren looked at me as if I should know.
"You. And that stupid curse."
She turned and continued for the door. I followed after her.
"What curse?"
Lauren stopped abruptly and turned with a look of total shock.
"You don't know? That's surprising since you're mother probably would have married Simon, not that freak of nature."
She would have continued but that's when I lost it.
"Shut up! You have not one right to say anything against my father, Tobias or my family! You are a traitor and full of crap!"
Lauren's face was full of fury.
"You will not speak to me like that you disgusting science experiment! I am trying to fix what couldn't be done to your mother, you ungrateful child," She was about to shut my door but stopped, "I'm not making the same mistake twice with this mating crap and letting it fulfilled itself." Then she slammed the door. I went to race after her but my door was locked.
Using as much strength as I could get, the door still would not budge. I pounded my fists against the wood.
"Lauren! Come back! Tobias!" I screamed through the door.
