Mitch POV

I was playing Hunger Games.

The phone rang.

I let another player kill me in game and my character returned back to the Nexus lobby.

I glanced down at the number on my cell, seeing it unfamiliar. Although cautious of the recent situations of my friends and unknown callers, I answered it anyway.

"Mitchell?" I could recognize that voice anywhere.

"Draco," I grumbled.

"I'm ready."

I lifted my eyebrows, shocked that he actually called, but relieved that he did as well. "I'll be asking questions that I need answers to. You will answer them."

"Fine. To start off, I was extremely jealous of Preston."

That first statement caught me by surprise. "Jealous…?"

"He was smart and handsome and all of the girls liked him… even though he was about 12. I envied his relationship with his sister. I had never had a bond like that before. I hated how he got along with everyone… But when I heard he had died… that hit me hard…"

"What did you do to Jade?"

"I blinded her many years ago with my gang… I never thought she would appear again in Washington. I think it was to get revenge on me… I'll never know."

"Why were you after Ray when you first met her?"

"I wasn't. It's just that I didn't know Preston was alive. I heard about his return at Ray's wedding… and I instantly went in for a strike… I wanted Preston to pay for my jealousy… I didn't know it would affect other people too…"

"Because of you so many people have been hurt… and I don't even know about Allison!"

He almost screamed into the phone. "Don't you dare talk about Allison!"

"What's between you two?!"

Draco calmed down enough to explain his story. "Well, I have to tell you everything or else it'll never get out. She first came to me when I was selling drugs on the streets. Allison needed a way for her brother Caleb, who was in jail, to get closer to Ray. I realized that Ray was the same Rachael from Arizona, so I set up a plan to help Allison… since of course I couldn't get back at Preston… he was dead… This caused Ray's drug problem…"

"But why do you hate Allison?"

"They got a bit out of hand. First… Caleb bringing Preston to your wedding… and then Allison kidnapping my brother… I know its because I didn't complete my task of manipulating Ray… and then she killed him! She killed my brother! And your friend got out alive!"

Brother? Johnny? "What? Brother? Johnny was your brother? Wasn't he Rebecca's brother?"

"She was my quote 'sister' too."

"So…" I paused in confusion. "What? Isn't your last name Kehtarin?"

Draco slid through these answers with ease. I was quite surprised. "Weaver was the name of my step-father. I changed my last name back to Kehtarin once I turned 18. Here it is. Rebecca and Johnny were my step-siblings. Their father married my mother in Arizona. We were all raised there. I didn't quite know that Allison and Caleb had connections to my family at first… everyone told me Rebecca's death was due to a car accident… later I figured out Caleb killed her. I also found out that Rebecca had a lot to do with Ray's high school problems."

"I'm… so sorry for your loss…"

"Ever since then, I vowed revenge against Caleb and Allison for what they did."

"Caleb is a good guy now… do you still hate him?"

Draco bluntly answered, "Yes. He murdered Rebecca."

"Now that I remember… did you know anything about Mat's plans?"

He chuckled a bit when I referenced Mat. "With Ashley and your other friends? No. Those were childish moves. Oh!" Draco thought of a memory from long ago that he hadn't mentioned. "After Caleb turned, Allison told him that I was in the Midwest with Avery. Truth is, I ditched Avery a while before that and stayed in Washington to spy on Preston. When you all moved to LA, I followed and begun my real plan."

I chose to revert my questions to our situations in LA. First query was simple… at least for Draco… "What's with the phases you told Ray about?"

"Ok… phase 1 was the tour bus… phase 2 was my spot in the musical… and phase 3 was Lia kidnapping Preston. I thought I would be able to get her weak enough that you wouldn't be able to stand it and leave."

"I would never!" I snapped at him.

Draco sarcastically groaned. "Well, Mitchell, I know that now."

I shrugged it off and continued my interrogation. "How did you meet Lia?"

"She was leaving the photo-shoot. I found potential. She joined on her free will. Simple. I needed a girl who Preston could fall for so I could manipulate him. I also gave Lia a fake reason to spy on them. Team Crafted secrets. Who knew he would fall for it? No one suspected Lia worked for me. Until she told them I was her boyfriend. I did not like her in that way and still don't."

"What about Tiff?"

"Another recruit. She had a connection to Ray's friend Clara, and so I contacted her… I didn't necessarily like teaming with her… but Tiff was the best I could do on short notice. Tour buses are difficult to hijack nowadays."

"Uh huh." Figures why he ran away when I came with Preston and Rouge. Why did he run when Preston showed up? Wouldn't Preston have recognized Draco? "Why didn't you go after Preston yourself?"

"It was too much work. Ray was already so close from Washington… and I felt the urge to go in deeper. Of course it was a mistake…"

"How do you know Rouge?"

"Lia went to school with Rouge. She told me pretty dirty secrets about the girls… some that I did not need to hear."

"Were you ever working with Ashley?"

"No." No more to that answer.

"How'd you meet Scott?"

"That was a pretty tough one to get… I had to go through Avery… who's uncle's friend's cousin's mother's son met him in Germany. It was close to nothing that I got Scott to work for me. Once I told him about starring in a musical and dating a hot girl, he was in. But his annoying sister came too… which turned out okay… cause Amy didn't find out about me."

"What did you tell Scott to do?"

"Be normal. My original plan was to knock him out somehow and get myself into his role to mess with Ray. Then it went south when Scott did… you know what… and sing to you at his rehearsal…"

"So you told him to go after us in the car."

"Yes. I really didn't want you to get involved, Mitchell… but you were married to Ray… and therefore were part of my plan."

"You do know that Ray is transferring to another musical."

"Good for her. Meanwhile, I'll be leaving."

"Leaving?"

"No one will accept an apology after what I've done. Lia and I are flying to New York. To start a new life. But I'm not quite sure if she's sane or not…"

"Uh… you should check that out. The big question is… why did you kill Blake?"

"That's a question that will never be answered."

"Thank you Draco. Good luck."

"You're wishing me luck?"

"One more question."

"Yes?"

"Why were you so scared when I met you at your rehearsal?"

There was a silence on his end of the call. "Uh… I… was worried you would kill me."

I took a moment to realize what he'd replied. "Really?"

"I thought… you were so angry with me… you would bring a weapon… and shoot me."

"I wouldn't do that to anyone."

"How was I to know? I've been frightened of you ever since Opening Night. Worried that you would kill me because I lost."

"You knew you lost… at Opening Night?"

"Yes." Another pause. "Goodbye Mitch. Hope you and Ray live a happy life with your child."

I gasped. "How do you know about the…?"

He hung up and erased memory of his number before I could call back. I leaned back in my chair and stared at the screen, taking in everything that I'd been told, promising myself to tell everyone what had truly happened. Especially Ray and Preston… My wife and new brother. I was now their family… their only living family… It was my job to keep my family safe from harm's way.
