Ezra's POV
Day 5
Aria's still not waking up yet, the doctors say it could be a couple hours, a week, or even a month, who knows. I've come to visit her everyday she's been here. I talk to her and hope that she can hear what I'm saying. I tell her the reasons why I'm on the –A team and that I never meant to hurt her and how I never meant for it to go this far. I always used to imagine Aria and I together in a place outside Rosewood. Far enough that people didn't know us for our mistakes; but close enough that her friends could still visit us, and we could visit them. We would live in a neighborhood where our kids could ride their bikes in the streets, and the park would be the next block over. We would have a dog and a big open yard. There would be a pool where we could sit out at and Aria could write and we could watch our kids play.
And the best part is no one would know who we are. They wouldn't know that she was my student and I was her teacher. They wouldn't know that we knew Allison Dilaurentis, or Maya St. Germain, or Ian Thomas, or anyone else for that matter. We would be free from all of that.
I stopped suddenly when somebody knocked on the door "Come in" I replied
"Good morning" Toby replied "Are you busy?"
"Nope" I replied as I headed out into the hall with Toby "What's up?"
"You've been up here for 5 days straight, not that that's a bad thing but, the girls are coming up and so is Jason, and I'll be here so if you want to go home for a bit and get some rest it will be fine here. You can take a shower and a nap or something?" Toby asked
"Ya ok I probably should go home for a bit. But call me if anything happens ok?" Ezra asked
"Of course we will" Toby replied
So Ezra went into Aria's room, said goodbye, grabbed his journal and left.
"Ok this is getting boring, isn't she tired of sleeping yet? Hello? Earth to Aria" Hanna said impatiently
"Hanna calm down" Spencer said
"Sorry guys but seriously I'm so bored" Hanna replied
"And you think the rest of us aren't?" Emily asked
"Guys" Spencer interrupted
They turned around to see Aria starting to wake up, she rubbed her hand across her face and blinked multiple times before completely opening her eyes. She looked around the room confused. "What, what happened? Why am here" she asked very quietly as Emily came back into the room with Wren and Det. Holbrook came in after the girls left the room.
"Is everything ok?" Toby asked as the girls came into the hall
"Everything's fine" Spencer said with a big smile on her face
"Well then why are Wren and Holbrook in there" Toby asked
"Because she woke up" Spencer said
"Geez Spence way to scare me" Toby replied before sharing a kiss with Spencer
"Can we go see her?" Jason asked
"Ya as soon as there done" Hanna replied
"Hello Aria" Wren said
"Hi" Aria murmured
"Do you remember anything that happened?" Holbrook asked
"Not really" Aria replied
"Ok we'll start off with last Friday, do you remember it?" Holbrook asked
"You're good to go, I'll have someone come check on you again soon" Wren replied and quickly left the room.
"Ok, um I remember leaving school and going back to Toby's Apartment and I remember I left and I was going to go to Spencer's lake house. But I don't remember if I ever went" she replied
"Ok that's good for now" he replied "Let me know if you remember more ok?" he asked
"Ok" she nodded as Holbrook left the room
"Can we go in and see her now?" Her friends asked
"Yes go ahead" Holbrook replied
So the girls went in first and sat down around Aria's bed awaiting any sort of answers she could give them.
"Do you remember anything?" Emily asked
"A little" Aria replied "I told Holbrook I didn't really remember anything though because well some stuff has to do with our secrets"
"Like?" Hanna questioned
She pauses for a second as tears begin to trickle down her cheeks "Look guys I need to tell you something" she says
"It's ok Aria" Hanna says
"He's A" she pauses before repeating "Guys he's A, Ezra's A"
"Wait as in e-z-r-A Ezra?" Hanna asks
"Most times when people are asking a question like that they say A as in like Apple to make sure they're saying the right thing" Emily replies
"Well you know what Em sometimes you poke the bear and other times the bear pokes you" Hanna replies
"What" Spencer asks?
"It's from a movie I think" Hanna replies
"Don't you think you could be a little more sensitive Aria just told us she thinks her boyfriends A" Spencer replies
"Why am I the only one who gets in trouble for this stuff" Hanna asks
"Because you don't think before you speak" Emily replies
"Why? I never do that" Hanna asks
"Because…never mind" Spencer replies looking back over at Aria who's in a stage between laughing a crying.
"I love you guys" she replies "But seriously that's what I was on the way to the cabin to tell you, that I found out Ezra was –A. That's why I came back to Toby's that one night crying, and why it was awkward at school."
"I'm so sorry Aria" the girls said almost in sync "Is there anything we can do?"
"I guess not, I'm sure he's already been in here, and if he's not at the hospital now I know he'll come back, I just don't know if all talk to him" she said before a knock came on the door and Jason walked in
"Hey can I talk to you?" Jason asked
"Of course" she replied "I really need to talk to you too"
So the girls left and she began to talk to Jason
"How are you feeling" Jason asked
"Sore" she replied "I really don't remember much about what happened at all"
"Ya I heard it was pretty bad, so I came back from New York to see you" he replied
"Well thank you" she said "Look I need to ask you a very serious question"
"Shoot" he replied
"Is there any way you can, never mind it's a crazy question" she replied
"Ask it" he said
"Is there any way you can get Ali to come here?" she asked
"I think I can do that" he replied
A few minutes later Jason returned to the room "She's going to come tonight but she can only stay for a little while ok? Everyone else will go home I'll be the only one here to make sure it goes as planned"
"Ok" she replied
"Are you going to talk to her about Ezra?" he asked
"Maybe, why?" she asked
"Give her a chance to explain it to you before you jump to conclusions, I know for a fact that it's not as bad as you think" he replied before kissing her on the forehead "Rest up she's coming around 2 am"
"Ok, I will" she said "and thank you for doing this"
"No problem" he replied before leaving the room, it was going to be along night.
A few hours later
She sat down next to Aria in bed and stroked her hair softly as she slept. Of course I would come back to see you I was worried you weren't going to be alright. I should really do something about A that bitch is constantly getting on my nerves.
"Ali, is that you?" Aria asked
"In the flesh" she replied
"You really came" she said with a smile
"Of course I did, you have questions and I've got all the answers" she replied "But I only have short time so I brought you this" she said
"What is it?" Aria asked
"Don't worry about what's inside it until you leave the hospital" she replied
"But what…"
"Trust me when you leave the hospital open it and you'll know exactly what do" she replied before looking over at the clock "I have to get going" Ali replied
"But I have questions" Aria replied back
"I know you do that's why I gave you that envelope, I'll see you when you get out" She replied "Oh and by the way ditch Wren as your doctor and don't exclude Ezra from your life, you actually need him more than you realize" she replied "but most of all feel better so you can get out of this dump" she said before leaving the hospital room.
Aria smiled as she began to fall back asleep but she still had a million questions running through her mind "Why should I get rid of Wren as my doctor? And why do I need Ezra? And what's in this envelope? She thought as she stared up at the dark ceiling.
2 hours later
The door to Aria's room opened and a person walked in. Thinking his patient was fast asleep he turned on a dim light near her bed so he could see what he was doing.
"What are you doing" she asked
"Its ok Aria, this will just make you go to sleep for a little bit" he replied
"No its not ok" she said "What are you doing"
"Just giving you your medicine to help you sleep" he replied
"Well I'm sleeping just fine" she replied
"No, your actually not I really need to give you this" he said bringing the needle toward her arm
"Wren I swear you better back the hell away or I'm going to go all Mona 2.0 on your ass" she said
"There's nothing you can do" he replies as he attempts to stick the needle in her arm. But she slaps him away making him more fueled than before. Again he tries to stick the needle in her arm.
"I warned you" she said with a smirk before screaming so loud I'm sure the whole hospital heard. Wren attempted to flee the room but Det. Holbrook, and Jason showed up first.
"What going on in here?" Holbrook asked
"I was just in here sleeping and then he comes in here and tries to stab me" Aria replied in tears
"Wren" Holbrook said
"She slapped me aren't there any rules against that" he asked
"Self-defense" she replied
"Wren" Holbrook repeated
"Since when was it a crime to give someone medicine" he asked
"At 4 in the morning" Holbrook asked
"Ya, I was making my rounds" He replied
"We'll discuss this further in the morning, in the meantime Det. Berry will be outside if you need anything. Wren you're coming with me." Holbrook replied
"But I have to keep making my rounds" Wren replied
"I'm sure someone else can cover them, let's go" He said taking Wren with him.
"You want me to stay in here tonight?" Jason asked
Aria nodded with tears rolling down her cheek
"Ok I will" he replied "Did you talk to Ali?"
"I did" she replied "She gave me this so we can talk when I leave"
"Is that all" Jason asked
"No" she replied "She also warned me about Wren and told me to talk to Ezra."
"Are you going to, you know talk to him?" he asked
"I think I will" she replied "Has he been here at all?"
"He's been here every day" he replied
"Really" she asked
"Yes, he feels terrible about everything that happened" he replied
She let out a sigh before admitting "I do too"
