Johnathan, along with his daughter, didn't try to talk to Paige at all as they followed aimlessly around the area. Neither did the people around them who would only glanced towards the trio occasionally. Since there were so few people in their country many, if not all, knew each other. The majority could tell when it was best to ignore Paige.
However after a few minutes Jonathan noticed her stop altogether. With some hesitation he had opened his mouth to finally talk to her but almost immediately closed once again for his answer was now only a few yards away. Everyone was looking at Prussia as he marched forward, talking and occasionally yelling at what seemed like nothing to them.
Their nation seemed so immerse in what he was doing that it wasn't until Paige's hand clamped down on his shoulder did he noticed the three of them. "What are doing, Prussia?" The nation was surprised to hear a faint sound of concern in her tone.
His eyes glanced back once towards the little boy that had stopped talking upon seeing Paige approach. When he looked away again he lightly pushed her arm off him and took a step back. "Just walking around and admiring the beautiful scenery that is me." The growing irritation that had been evident on his face had changed almost instantly upon speaking. Now it was a forced look of carelessness accompanied by a sarcastic tone.
She snorted at that response. "To me this place is something that god decided wasn't worth the time to give something as beautiful as plants and people to."
"Then move somewhere else." His voice wasn't harsh and cold, as one would expect, as he told her this. It was actually somewhat cocky.
"There's no better place to go." She however had become unamused by this.
A smirk now played on Prussia's lips. "Right because the rest of the world is even more lifeless and unlivable." He ignored the little boy who had begun tugging at his clothes. "It doesn't get any better than me."
"No," She took a few steps forward and gazed directly into his eyes causing the nation to stumble slightly backwards. The little boy by now had backed away from both of them while Johnathan held Agatha by her shoulders to keep her from going up to her mother. "The only reason any of us stay here is because the nations that lie beyond you believe that anyone coming from these lands are outcasts. From what Aldo and the others have told us is that outcasts that try to leave this place are killed."
"Paige, maybe we should go back to Aldo." Interjected Johnathan.
She, however, ignored him and continued speaking to Prussia. "This may be the only place I can live for the rest of my life and I hate it."
There was a silent pause between all of them. "Come on where's your sense of patriotism?" Paige groaned in frustration, knowing very well that nothing she said fazed him.
"I'd tell you to go to hell if you weren't the physical representation of it." With that said she turned around sharply. "Let's just go back to Aldo, there's more you need to hear from the both us."
. . .
Aldo didn't consider at any point going out to find Paige and Prussia after they left. He knew that it wouldn't be long before they came back so why go out in the hot sun to look for them? Why walk aimlessly through dirt 'streets' while unseen gazes judged him, wondering the motives of their great leader. It was hard for Aldo to look ahead toward the horizon and pretend he wasn't seeing their smiles or frowns as he entered their line of view. If he had the choice he would seldom come out of his tent at all.
"You didn't even bother cleaning up when we were gone." A small smirk tugged at the edges of Aldo's lips as he lifted his head slightly off the ground to see both Paige and Prussia staring down at him from the doorway. Since they had left, Aldo had done nothing more than lay down on the ground.
The Dirt on the floor rubbed into his scalp as he shook his head. "Cleaning isn't my problem."
Paige rolled her eyes before surveying the mess. She guessed it would've only taken ten minutes to clean up the small space. "Of course because cleaning is manual labor and manual labor should only be done by commoners,"she sneered.
Aldo's lips widened as she said this. "Yeah commoners like you," He pushed himself off the ground, grunting at the slight pain in his back. "And as your king I command you to clean up this mess."
Prussia found himself unable to stop the grin forming on his face at the sight of Paige's reaction. It reminded him of the exasperated look Austria would have whenever he had done something to get the piano player's panties in a twist or the look Germany had when Prussia embarrassed him in front of his allies. Luckily Paige didn't bother to look back towards him as she stomped her way to Aldo. It was obvious to tell by the way she clenched her fists to the point of bleaching them of color that this wasn't the first time Aldo teased her. That or she was an extremely sensitive person - but Prussia thought that was highly unlikely.
Paige's inability to hit the man everyone but her called king only made both men wonder if she would actually comply with Aldo's demand. "We have . . . . More important things to do at the moment." It sounded as if took more willpower to say that then to stop herself from assaulting Aldo.
Instead of further encouraging her desire to harm him, Aldo only nodded in agreement. "Right," With that said the two of them once again focused their attention on their nation, rather than each other. "We only have a few other things to tell you. After that I'm not quite sure what we're going to do with you."
After noticing he was once again the object of attention in the room, Prussia finally moved from the entry way and towards them. To be honest not even he knew what he was going to do after everything was said and done. It was clear to him that he wasn't the richest nation in town but he was still alive or at least he had been for a week. "Go on,"
Clearing his throat, Aldo continued. "If you haven't noticed we live close to a large body of water," Prussia knew he was referring to the Baltic Sea. "It provides fish for us, not water though since it's not digestible. The water we get is from the weekly rain, however it won't be enough." They all knew that this land lacked any other resources other than what they caught from the sea. Eventually it clicked in his mind that without any other food than fish his people would surely suffer if not die from the lack of vitamins.
"We can't live like this forever, Prussia." This time it was Paige who spoke up. From the soft, pleading way she sounded it was apparent that most of her frustration had already died down.
Prussia's gaze flickered back and forth between the two of them, trying to understand what they wanted from him, what they expected from their nation. "Don't look at me like that." He mentality cursed himself for saying that out loud. "How the hell should I know what to do?!"
Aldo briefly looked towards Paige before looking back to Prussia. "The closest place we can get the resources we need to survive from is the Itravokian Republic." He paused, shuddering as if the temperature had dropped twenty degrees. "We need to send men over to sneak into their country."
