Heyyyyy. I'm so bored. So I thought "why don't I update?" So here is chapter…I can't even keep track anymore…but…here it is!
"Dad." I sighed, relieved to see that he is safe. I walked over to him and was quickly wrapped in his embrace.
"Hey sweetie. How's it going?" He said this with a chuckle gripping my tighter to him. "I'm so glad to see that you're alright." I pulled away and looked at him. He's aged a lot since I left the first time.
"I'm alright. I'm home, I'm safe. Everything is fine." I forced the best smile I could. The truth was, I didn't know what was going on with me, ever since I got back something has been off.
"Good. On that note, start packing and we will get you home as soon as possible." He ran his hand over the top of my head to smooth my hair.
"What? Why?" I look over at Derek and he looked tense, like he was going to interfere at any moment.
"You're coming home." He said slowly, making sure that I understood every word.
"I am home." I said with the same tone of voice. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying here."
"Chloe, I understand why you want to stay here, Derek is here, Simon and Kit are here, and you probably feel safer here. But you need to be home."
"I'm not leaving. I just got back." I felt like I was arguing with my dad when I was little. I crossed my arms over my chest and stared at him.
"Exactly. Now you're coming with me." He tried to grab my arm but I jerked it out of the way.
I looked over my shoulder to see Derek coming up behind me. When he got to my side he put his arm around me, pulling me closer to him.
"Mr. Saunders, I don't think that that is the best idea. Chloe would be better off here, she'd be safer with all of us here to protect her." I looked up at Derek and felt proud. His eyes were telling my dad to back off because he wasn't letting me go anywhere with out him again.
"I understand that, but she needs her father." My dad was giving Derek the same stare he was receiving.
"Oh now you think I need a father." I said breaking the tension.
What is that supposed to mean?" My dad settled his gaze on mine.
"My entire life ever since mom died has been being raised by house keepers and babysitters. You have never been active in my life. So why start now?" I was on the verge of yelling. The louder my voice got, the tighter Derek held onto me.
"I'm sorry for that, I am. But I'm here now." Dad started to reach toward me but Derek pulled me as close to him as possible so I was barely out of his reach.
"I don't care, I'm staying here." I turned my head to the side so I wouldn't have to look at him, wouldn't have to see the hurt in his eyes.
"Fine, but I'm always here, you always have a home." He said, surrendering. I looked up at him to find that he was staring at Derek again.
He turned towards the door and walked out. As soon as the door closed I started crying. Derek pulled me into his chest and I wrapped my arms around his neck, burying my face in his neck.
He let me cry for awhile. Eventually he picked me up and moved to the couch, setting me in his lap. He didn't say anything, just stroked my hair and whispered sweet things into my ear.
Once I stopped he picked my up again and carried me to our room. He must've seen that I was too tired to anything, because he just sat me down on the bed. I didn't realize what he doing until I saw that he was going to the dresser.
He got out one of my tank-tops and shorts and came back over to the bed. He set the clothes on the bed. And instead of walking out like I thought he did he started to take off my shirt.
I didn't object, just stared at the wall straight ahead while he put on a new shirt, and did the same thing with my pants.
Once I was changed, he laid me down on the bed and kissed my forehead. "Goodnight beautiful. I'll be in soon ok?" I nodded and turned on my side just wanting to get some sleep.
I heard Derek walk across the room and out the door. I waited until I could no longer hear his footsteps to try and fall asleep. And when I did fall asleep, it was hard.
