Chapter 19 – Sibling Required
An hour later, Diggle started to tend to the injuries that Oliver had sustained in the fight with the thief as they waited for the last member of their team to arrive.
"Oliver!" Felicity's frightened and guilt-ridden voice travelled clearly through the lair as soon as she touched the top stair. Catching sight of his torso covered in bloodied grazes, she literally kicked her shoes off to run down the stairs to him. "Oliver!"
"I'm alright." He said quickly, suppressing his smile as she literally pushed Diggle out of the way so that she could continue the job of caring for him. "Ow!"
"I'm sorry." She whispered pressing a kiss to his bare shoulder before she helped him pull his grey jacket up over his injuries. She then leant against the table beside and behind him as he gingerly rested against her leg, her arm going around him so that her hand rested on his right shoulder.
"Tell me it isn't what I think it is, Oliver." She rested her head on his for a moment. "Please tell me it's not to do with that submarine."
"I can't do that." Oliver squeezed her hand. "You know some of the things that serum can do but after you were rescued and that year reset, things went to hell and it's all down to Ivo and that serum."
"Why do I get the feeling this is one of those things that I'm really not going to like, at all." Diggle folded his arms. "Oliver, this serum... what do you know?"
"The serum was designed to make human weapons."
Diggle scoffed, "Human weapons, what next, aliens!"
"This is real John." Oliver looked up. "Those five, six years I was away, I came across things that defy explanation. Ivo was a doctor that came to the island to test the serum on people. The ones that survived, their endurance, reflexes and strength were all enhanced."
"And I really wish I couldn't remember some of them once again." Her fingers almost dug into his shoulder and Oliver winced slightly.
"And you think this doctor is here in Starling City." Diggle commented, hands moving to his pockets as he stood at ease.
"He can't be he's dead as is everyone injected with the serum, the last of which I burned." He said firmly as he ran his hand down Felicity's leg on feeling her tremble again.
"So you're thinking someone has found the formula." Diggle sighed, digging his hands even deeper into his pockets. It was clear to him that both Oliver and Felicity were decidedly unhappy with the information being revealed.
"It certainly looks that way." He turned slightly and picked up the arrow, handing it to Felicity.
"I know, the components might reveal the next target." Felicity took the arrow before resting her forehead against his. "If it wasn't for the fact that's where we met, agapi mou , I really wish you had been shipwrecked on Aruba sometimes!"
He couldn't stop his slight laugh at that and pressed a kiss to her lips.
"I better get back to Barry and start looking into this."

Even as Oliver and Diggle discussed the mystery that was Barry Allen, Felicity found herself, much to her quiet amusement, facing the very thing that Oliver was jealous about.
Even as she put together the sample for testing, she watched as the younger man literally clambered up and down the ladder as he sorted out the chemicals in the lab that they were using – well up until she mentioned the vigilante.
"The vigilante shot the thief but how did you get it?" He shot across the room to stand in front of the bench.
"Oliver has a lot of connections." She said simply as she sealed the test-tube she had just put a sample into.
"Wow, pays to be a billionaire sometimes." Barry's tone was almost overwhelmed, continuing to watch as she put the sample into the small centrifuge.
"He still puts his pants on one leg at a time, Barry." She replied almost absently. "And believe me, he's nothing special, and I should know as I am with him almost every night."
"Oh, I had noticed that..." Felicity looked up quickly once she had pressed the button to start the test as Barry continued her gaze a little disbelieving. "I hadn't realised that you and he were together!"
Her eyebrow rose at that and she tilted her head to the side as she considered the young man opposite her. "You don't seem an unobservant man, Barry, quite the reverse in fact."
"I just put my foot in it, didn't I?" Much to her amusement, he actually blushed.
"Don't worry about it; I'm flattered by your interest but yes, Oliver and I are together." She suddenly considered something that had come across her desk that morning. "However, I see no reason why you can't use my invitation to a party Queen Consolidated is holding for Oliver's mother tonight, you are currently working for us. Consider it a thank you for the work you are doing for us."
"Oh please tell me that there isn't going to be dancing because I'm telling you, I really have two left feet." Barry was still blushing furiously, confirming Felicity's personal opinion that he really needed a big sister in his life.

The following morning, unaware of the secondary undertones of the case as a certain Mr Harper had still not chosen to send a message to the Arrow, Felicity stood next to Barry in her office discussing the particle accelerator in Central City having stayed the night at her own apartment the previous evening.
She was therefore a little startled when Oliver walked into her office and pulled her away from the screens to his side, separating her from the younger man.
It was also clear that even being put in his place where Felicity's relationship with Oliver was concerned, Barry still felt more at easing in looking at her in telling them the story about his father and the death of his mother.
"I'm sorry Felicity, but I won't need your invitation now. I have to go."
"Barry wait..." Felicity turned to Oliver, "Oliver... I told you he needed mothering but did you need to do this, like this. Couldn't you have found some other way?"
"He lied to us, Felicity." He tightened his hold around her waist.
"Everyone lies, Oliver, we do it every day." She replied as she reached up to caress his cheek. "It still doesn't dismiss the fact that you handled this wrong and I'm not happy with you."
"Felicity..."
She covered his lips with her fingers. "Not now, I will still see you tonight but right now, I think I need to be elsewhere." Removing her hand, she reached up on tip-toe and pressed a kiss to his lips. "Just remember, I love you." With that she walked away
He was still regretting his actions when he caught sight of her standing in the foyer of Queen Mansion with her hair down and no glasses. "Felicity..."
"Good evening Queens." She replied, smiling as Thea caught her hand on passing her, their silent signal to say hello – especially as Moira merely smiled coolly at her son's partner. "Oliver, I need a word."
He allowed her to pull him to one side before pulling her into his side, his arm around her waist as he cupped her cheek. "You look beautiful tonight, Felicity. I'm also genuinely sorry about this morning, you were right and I was wrong, I could have handled it better."
Looking into his blue-grey eyes, she finally smiled back at him before it faded. "You better join your mother because this party, I'm sorry Oliver but it's another thing you were wrong about."
He closed his eyes for a moment and then rested his forehead on her's, sighing. "Just once, just once can't something go right for us?" He raised his head again and caught sight of someone over her shoulder. "But I did do one thing right." He turned her so that she was facing Barry. "Your motherless puppy is here."
It earned him an elbow to his stomach followed swiftly by a kiss to his cheek before a beep from her purse interrupted them. Sighing herself, Felicity pulled out her tablet only for her eyes to widen. "The results are in; I'll take Barry and get back to the lab." She raised her eyes to his. "And you be careful, the Russian she-wolf is here."
She started to move away before e found herself being pulled back into Oliver's arms in a quick dance move and being thoroughly kissed. "I may not be able to dance with you tonight but there is no way I am not going to show you my appreciation for the way you look." He murmured against her lips. "You looked the princess you are, Felicity."
She smiled back at him in silent thanks, raising her hand to wipe away her lipstick and then moving across the foyer, she grabbed Barry's arm to pull him out of the mansion, noting as she did so that Roy was also leaving extremely quickly, mentally noting that she would need to check the post near the club as well.

As she ran through the A.R.G.U.S warehouse later that night, her heart pounding almost as if it would jump out of her chest, Felicity was severely wishing that Oliver had not invoked Murphy's Law earlier that day.
It was almost as if this day had started out so wrong and had been determined to stay wrong.
First there had been the news that the sedative was being held in an A.R.G.U.S warehouse on the edge of the Glades. That had been followed by the sight of Roy's information arrow in the post and hearing Oliver shoot the young man to stop him getting into trouble (something she still hadn't had the chance to yell at him about). It had not been helped by the picture that Roy had forwarded to the anonymous email account she had set up for him.
Before her thoughts could go any further, she caught sight of Oliver crumpled on the ground with two vials sticking out of his leg. "Oliver!"
She was at his side in a flash as Diggle quickly checked the area to make sure that they were alone - he was a little astounded by the how Felicity had jumped to Oliver's side so agilely – before he turned to find her checking his pulse. "Oliver, wake up, Oliver!"
"Is he alive?" He asked as he holstered his gun.
"His pulse is weak but it's there." She cupped his cheeks and looked into his eyes, trying to get him to respond to her. "His pupils are dilated, Digg..." Out of the corner of her eyes she noted the vials were coded and her sense of panic grew.
"What the hell was that?" Diggle growled as she pulled the vials out of his leg and pushed past him to the computer console.
"I don't know, it's coded," She shot back sharply as she dived for the computer she could see only to find it had been smashed, making her uncustomary swear. "I can use the dispensary's records to find out what he was poisoned with."
Diggle pulled out his phone and started to dial. "What are you doing?"
His answer managed to set her into an unnatural calm and she pushed his phone down. "No, you can't, it's too dangerous for Oliver." She closed her eyes for a moment and started to pull a plan together. "There's only one thing that we can do..."
Diggle stared at her, unsure and proud of the way that she was taking control.

Barry Allen in some ways was not surprised that he missed his train back to Central City – it was par for the course for him to be late for everything.
He most definitely did not expect to be hit in the neck with something that felt like an insect bite or to fall unconscious. He most definitely did not expect to wake up in an area that seemed to be underground, with a cabinet full of arrows and a bow.
He most definitely did not expect to see Oliver Queen dressed in green leather lying unconscious on table being watched over by the bodyguard.
And he most definitely did not expect to find himself facing the worried eyes of Felicity Smoak, running her hands together.
"Please save the man I love."
No this was not what he had expected when he came to Starling City to investigate an unexplained break-in.
