Chapter 8

Legend

"So these notes will help us create the stone?" Renee asked Edward after he finally finished explaining to them about Dr. Marcoh's meeting with them. Edward nodded his head before turning the corner in downtown central and dropped his bag.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" Edward screamed as he saw the entire military libary nothing less than a pile of black ash.

"Kimblee! You have visitors," The guard shouted before entering the cell where Zolf J. Kimblee was held. His hands were encased in a wood plank but the tattoos of his alchemy symbol was still noticable. Kimblee smiled and his chains clinked against his bed. He never had any visitors. His smile grew even larger when he saw the glimpse of his old so called 'friend' Roy Mustang underneath the small rays of the setting sun.

"Why it's Colonel Roy Mustang! To what do I owe the pleasure?" Kimblee snickered before turning his attention to Renee who was hidden behind Roy; his attempt of protection for her. "Is that a new member of your squad or one of your many girlfriends? I don't have time to meet girls,"

"We want some information," Renee replied to Kimblee's remark and she walked forward to show her face to Kimblee. His eyes grew wide and he looked over at Mustang.

"What would I know that you don't, your highness? So, Mustang caught the princess in his web? Ha, I never thought I would get a chance to meet you."

"Save it Kimblee. We're here about the stone that you refuse to give up so you murdered all those men to keep it," Mustang said coldly.

"What stone? We were forced to turn all the stones in after the Ishvalans made a agreement with Bradley."

"By the way your mouth is looking, you're keeping something underneath your tongue and I'm sure the guards here aren't so lean on passing out gum and extra food to murderers," Renee replied coolly. Kimblee threw a dirty look at her and turned away.

"I'm not saying anything, princess," Kimblee mumbled and Renee laughed.

"What's the matter, Kimblee? Afraid to play with a little fire." Renee cackled. Kimblee's ears pricked up and his desires awoke within him. The screams of thousands rung in his ears and he smiled before looking at them.

"Who made the stone for you?" Mustang asked.

"Oh I'm not talking to you, Mustang. I only want to talk to Renee," Kimblee replied and Mustang pushed Kimblee against the wall.

"I'm ordering you to tell, Kimblee!"

"Oh look... I have nothing to say. What are you going to do? Light me on fire for not saying anything? Either you leave and I'll talk to your pretty girlfriend or I keep my mouth shut. Your chouce," Kimblee replied and he fell silent with a grin across his face. Mustang glared at him and looked over at Renee.

"Five minutes. That's all he's getting," Mustang told her and Renee nodded. He left with Kimblee's guard in tow and slammed the cell door closed.

"It's so easy to play with fire when you have the right tools to manupliate it with," Kimblee grinned and he fell back on his bed and stared at the ceiling, his raggy hair falling in a pool around him. "My apoligies for looking like this, my advisors hardly let me out of this cell."

"Well, Kimblee, if you tell me what I need to know maybe you'll get a larger cell than this," Renee barginaed him with. His ears pricked up. A new cell? This shabby ten by ten foot cell was not his first but it would be his last until his death day as what Bradley told him. The thought of a more comfortable cell was pleasent and a wonderful feeling.

"The stone was created by doctors within the military, one of them was actually Dr. Marcoh. I can't be sure what happened to them but I can tell you that many of them started to vanish after the end of the war. Who really knows what happened to them," Kimblee said and Renee moved closer to him and smiled at him.

"Thanks, Kimblee. Now tell me what I really need to know. I want to know about the homunculi that are running around causing damage to this country," Renee replied in a whispered tone that only Kimblee could hear. He could smell her scent, lilacs; the only flower that Kimblee called beautiful in this ugly world. Her face had a tinge of red and her eyes had the sparkle of gold. Her face had a tinge of red and pink from the nasty wind outside but those eyes made her look defiant, determined and breath taking. Kimblee looked away to keep his senses in tact. How dare a simple minded girl distract him like this.

"I don't know much about them but one of them is has a lot of power within the military," Kimblee told her.

"Who told you this?"

"General Raven. After I was finished with my duty in Ishval he asked me if I wanted to learn more about imotality and of course I said yes but it was just before I killed all those officers to keep the stone. General Raven said someone within the military with the ability to control an entire army is also in charge of the homunculi thus proving that he or she is a holmunculus."

"Anything else?"

Kimblee smiled at her question. What else? He could talk to her all day about what they did to this country. However, Renee looked smart. Much smarter than Mustang and her research would lead her to a certain death. He couldn't have his only chance of survival slip between his fingers.

"Like I said, I don't know much since I was only a major and my time in this cell lost me of any news from the real world." Renee stood up and paced back and forth, her mind buzzing with facts and potential truths. Who could be so high up and have the homunculi in control as well. This required abusing her power to research this dark information and may lead her into a death path. She must take it slow and trend carefully to avoid being caught. Kimblee's information was useful but not useful enough.

"Thank you, Zolf. I'll put in word about having your cell changed," Renee said and shouted for the guard.

"Renee." Renee turned to look at Kimblee. "They're always watching from the shadows." The guard opened the door and Renee stared at Kimblee before leaving him and following Mustang out the cell block.

"Did you get what you needed?" Mustang asked her.

"I got enough to start off a good research night," Renee replied. "How about getting a tattoo?"

"So this girl was once a Princess but fled here to join the military as a dog? HA!" Father replied to Lust and Envy as Gluttony sat in a far off corner eating leftovers. The capture of Dr. Marcoh was a success and the last bits of their plan was coming into place. Judgement Day was finally within their reach.

"She seems valuable. She's the only ice alchemist alive and she keeps that damn Colonel in his place!" Envy replied with a grin on his face.

"She has potential, but we need to watch her more and wait. Until then we have the doctor, Edward Elric, Alphonse Elric and their father..." Father replied and set three pieces on a smaller version of a transmutation circle.

"A weapon?" Renee asked her military trainer, Zach. The two of them stood in a large room with pratice dummies and weapons of various kinds surrounding them.

"All alchemists should always carry a weapon they can use with their alchemy. Look at Major Elric! He uses his arm to transform into a shield and blade. When you were back home, did you learn how to use any weapons?" Zach asked her. Renee thought back. It's been awhile since she had her hands on a weapon.

"Well... my dad taught me how to use a bow," Renee replied and Zach clapped his hands and grabbed for a sterdy bow and a few arrows. He gave them to her and stood aside.

"Let's see how you shoot and if you're good enough I'll have a special bow made for you," Zach replied. Renee placed the arrow on the bow and aimed carefully at the dummy in front of them. She fired and the arrow shot through the dummy's chest. Zach clapped for her and she grabbed another arrow from him. "Now see if you can use your alchemy on the arrow." She looked at him and then at the arrow. She set up the bow and arrow and let her fingers slide over the cool metal arrow, her nerves buzzing with excitment. She could feel the arrow grow colder with her touch and the metal started to turn a light blue. She fired the arrow and it soared into the dummy's head, leaving icy spikes surrounding the arrow. She handed Zach the bow and walked over to the frozen arrow and pulled it out of the dummy. The entire arrow was covered in a sheet of ice and left the sharp tip surrounded by tiny sharp spikes to make the hit more damaging. Zach was clapping happily for her and she showed him the arrow.

"Well done! I'll have this weapon ready for you to use in a week. That was simply amazing!" Zach cried and walked out of the room. Edward walked in and clapped Renee on the back.

"It's good to know that I have a quick shot of a partner," Ed replied.

"Yeah..." Renee replied, her mind still fixed on the horrible weapon her alchemy just created.
