Bella's Pov

I held EJ close to me hoping he didn't hear the gun shooting.

"Mommy what is daddy doing?" EJ asked me, I set him down and we walked in his pace even though I just wanted to carry him and run away from Edward.

"Daddy…just….he just had to talk to someone in there don't worry about it" I faked a smile for my son to protect him.

"Bella!...EJ!" Edward's voice rang clear through the silence of the forest, "daddy!" Ej yelled back and made me stop to wait for Edward.

After a few minutes Edward came into range and once he saw us he ran towards us smiling…how could he smile after what he did.

EJ ran towards Edward and he picked him up and walked towards where I was, "what now?" I asked him, he looked at me and sighed, "We walking until we see a car or town or city or something" he answered innocently.

I nodded, Edward and I kept it silent while EJ talked to Edward at just about everything, and they were having a father-son bonding moment.

We reached a town by midday I had some money on me thank God and stayed in Bed n Breakfast. I closed the curtains so no one could see us, "Come on EJ let's get you showered" he groaned but did as he was told.

"I'll call Emmett tell him we're on our way there" Edward told me heading towards the phone I just nodded I couldn't look at him not since the Dinner massacre.

"Mommy where are we going?" EJ asked me, as I put him into bed after Edward finished his phone call with Emmett he went to go find food for us, "we already told you, Sweetheart where going to see an old friend his name is Em" I answered him while holding onto his baby cheeks and then tickling him.

"Hey I wanna get tickled too" Edward said laughing, "Daddy!" EJ jumped off the bed and ran towards Edward who had laid down on the bed right next to him and started ticking EJ.

I smiled Edward looked like a father and not a criminal, "alright buddy time for bed come on" Edward told him, EJ whined but once Edward laid him on his chest and rubbed his back and hummed my lullaby he fell asleep instantly.

Edward turned to look at me and smiled I hadn't realized that I was smiling looking at them, he gently put Ej on the bed, "we should head to bed as well" he informed me. I didn't speak I just nodded, he held out his hand and I couldn't help but hold it.

We lay on the other bed and I placed my head on Edward's chest just like when we were teenagers, "so what did Emmett say?" I asked breaking the comfortable silence. Edward huffed, "He's coming to get us and arrive sometime tomorrow morning" Edward told me I nodded once more.

We fell into another silence but none of us slept until I asked him the question that was on my mine since the day it happened, "Edward" I whispered to him looking at him in his face, he looked down and stared into my brown eyes, "yes, love" he whispered back.

I almost didn't want to ask the question but I had to know, "Why did you kill my parents?"
