Heart of Fire Chapter 6: The Final Battle: Part 2
Inkanikron's third turn then began. He drew and sniggered. "Don't think your card is safe Weevil" he said, then activated the Firestorm spell card. "WHA?"Weevil yelled. "Weevil, your DNA Surgery will be destroyed by this card's effect. And if it turns out that I have declared the right Trap Card, you take 1000 points of damage" But when Inkanikron's Firestorm was fired from Fire Dragon Anzar, it instead destroyed Rex's Fake Trap, which then triggered Weevil's trap. "Uh, Inkanikron, that didn't work" Flaronza said.
It was not Weevil's turn to snigger. "What's so funny?" Inkanikron asked. Weevil replied with "You triggered my Type Torrent Trap card. Now I select 1 Attribute of monster, and all monsters on the field of that type is destroyed" Rex then added "And we select FIRE" Fire Dragon Anzar was destroyed. "Not quite guys, remember we can select an attribute also. And I select EARTH" "WHAT? NO! MY QUEEN!" Weevil yelled as Insect Queen, all of Weevil's Ant tokens, and Rex's Crawling Dragon #2 were all destroyed. Inknaikron then said "It's not over. I summon Great Angus in attack mode (1800/600). I then set a card face-down and end my turn"
Weevil's fourth turn then began. "It's time to end this for both of you" Weevil said. "I summon Giant Flea in attack mode (1500/1200)" "Uh oh" Flaronza said. "Don't worry, we can still win this" Inknaikron replied. Weevil however had a counter. He said "Don't be so sure. I activate the Spell card Insect's Crushing Bite. And when I have a level 7 or higher Insect-type monster in the graveyard, I can banish it to select and destroy 1 Spell- or Trap- card on the field. And I choose the card on the right" Insect Queen came up from underneath, and tore the card in half, revealing it to be Magic Cyllinder.
"My plan's ruined" Inknaikron said. Weevil then said "Now Giant Flea, attack Inkanikron directly" the attack succeeded, lowering Inkanikron's life points to 0, however Inkanikron activated the Fire Bomb trap. "Now I will end the duel with everyone losing" Inkanikron said. "You're a psychopath" Rex yelled. "Maybe, but I can ensure my continuation inside this human" Inkanikron replied. But he found himself vanishing, and Rex, seeing what was about to happen, made a split second descision.
Rex runs across the field as Inkanikron vanishes and the bomb goes off. "Rex what are you doing?" Weevil yells, but Rex isn't listening "She's going to be incinerated if she gets hit by the bomb" Rex called back. Stopping on one foot, he puts every ounce of his weight into his foot, and, taking Flaronza in his arms, gets out of the immediate radius of the bomb, the force of which sends everyone flying, that is the last thing everyone but Alexis and Damien, who hid behind statue, remembers.
Chapter 6 complete, but the fanfic isn't finished.
Epilouge:
It was several hours before Rex woke up at the local hospital. "Rex, thank god you're alright" came a loud voice, which made Rex wince as his head was hurting and his ears were still ringing. "Too loud" Rex said, clasping his hands to his ears. "Sorry" the voice said, much more quietly this time. "Thank-you" Rex replied then, looking around, saw Flaronza was missing. "Where's Flaronza?" Rex asked. "She's in the emergency ward" the nurse replied. Rex immediately swung himself over the side of his bed, and managed to get on his shoes and socks before the nurse attempted to hoist him back onto his bed. "Look, if there is anything you need to do, wait until I have talked to Flaronza first, OK?" Rex said determinately. "I have to do them now and we haven't gotten your test results back" Rex replied with "Look, I need to talk to my girlfriend and I will not be interested in my results until I have talked to her, now where, specifically in the emergency ward is she?" the nurse, feeling defeated, said "she's in the Kanikon ward, which isn't far from here" Rex, gently moving the nurse out of the way, said "Thanks for everything, I'll be back" then departed.
3Weevil, Damien and Alexis, along with several doctors and nurses meanwhile were waiting for Flaronza to wake up. When Rex entered the ward, they turned to face him. "So you're awake Rex" Weevil said. "Yes I am, now can I please talk to my girlfriend?" Rex said. "She's unconscious, I don't think you will be able to get much out of her" Alexis replied. One of the doctor's said "Actually, she wants to talk to her 'boyfriend', and she will fake sleep until he arrives, that what she tells me anyway" the doctor nearest to the door said, then the nurse added "Now is Flaronza, and your 'girlfriend' the same girl?" Rex nodded, and said "I would like to talk to her in private" the nurse opened her mouth to argue but the doctor said "let him, I think Flaronza is referencing Rex when she said that she wants to talk to her 'boyfriend'" the nurse, recognising defeat, said "OK, we'll give Rex and Flaronza their privacy" and Damein, Alexis, Weevil and both the nurses and the doctors left.
Conversation between Rex Raptor and Flaronza Wildfire
Rex Raptor entered Flaronza's room and asked"Flaronza, can you hear me?" Flaronza opens her eyes slightly, then recognising Rex, opens her eyes fully, then says "Yes I can hear you Rex, are you OK?" Rex Raptor replied "I'll be fine, it's you I'm worried about" Rex Raptor sits down on Flaronza's bed. Flaronza Wildfire attempts to sit up, but falls back onto her bed when she feels a sharp pain in her ribs when she put her left arm down. Rex Raptor said "I'll help you" Rex supports Flaronza up, then sets her pillow vertically to maximise support, then asked "There you go, now, what is it that you wanted to tell me?" Flaronza replied with "Well, it's hard for me to say this but, when you destroyed Inkanikron, you didn't just extinguish the demon possessing me, you, and only you Rex, opened up another door" "Another door?" Rex asked, then said "Wait a minute, you don't mean.." Flaronza interuppted with "Yes, you Rex, opened the door to my heart"
Rex replied with "Well that's nice to know. So if that's all I'll be off now, my tests should be ready and the nurse taking care of me will be annoyed if I don't return". Rex Raptor goes to leave but Flaronza grabbed Rex's hand with hers and pulls him back. When Rex turns back he sees Flaronza blushing heavily. Rex Raptor, blushing asked: "Flaronza?" Flaronza replied with "Rex, I, I love you" Rex replied with "I love you too Flaronza" Flaronza and Rex kiss, then embrace tightly. After a few moments they break apart. Rex then asked "So this is what you meant by 'opened up another door'?" Flaronza Wildfire nodded and said "Yes, that is what I meant". Rex then said "Well, I'll probably have to stay overnight for observation but I will stay with you every night until you are released" Flaronza then said "Thanks Rex" Rex then kisses Flaronza on the cheek, then departs.
Rex, sill blushing slightly, said "Well, now you guys can come back in now. (turns to Weevil), I told you so" Weevil Underwood asked, looking puzzled "What do you mean 'I told you so' (notices Rex blushing), Do you love Flaronza or something?" Rex nods. Weevil punched a fist into his other hand and exclaimed "GAH! I can't believe I lost the bet". Alexis then asked "Bet? What Bet?" Rex turned to Alexis and said "We had a bet on from about a year ago, where the first person to get a girlfriend gets something of their choice from the other, Flaronza's my girlfriend, so Weevil has to accompany me to the Dinosaur expedition that's on this weekend at the museum" Damien said. "OK. So I guess it will be a family affair if Flaronza wants to come along" Alexis then replied by asking "Why don't we ask her?" Flaronza then said, having appeared as part of the group said "Ask me what?" Damien turned to face Flaronza and asked "Would you like to come to the Dinosaur expedition at the museum this weekend?" Flaronza smiled and replied with "Wherever Rex is going I'm going too" Alexis replied with "Well that settles it then, we will be going to the museum together" Rex, then had a devilish idea. "Oh and that's not the best bit. Weevil has to dress up as a Dinosaur for the whole trip" Weevil exclaimed "WHAT? THAT WASN'T PART OF IT!" Rex smiled menacingly and said "Yes it was, I decided that if I got a girlfriend first you would have to dress up as a dinosaur for the trip to the dinosaur museum" Weevil replied with "Grrrr. Can I borrow your Dinosaur outfit?" Rex replied "Sure, you can use mine" "Thanks" Weevil replies. Rex then sits down next to Flaronza. The nurse from Rex's ward then appears and said "Rex, your tests are back, and everything cleared. We will be keeping you in overnight just as a precaution" Weevil sneered "Well I do have some consolation, at least I will be leaving here tonight" But Rex, smiling, said "I was going to stay here with Flaronza anyway, I mean she is my girlfriend after all" Weevil grisled and said "Grrrrrr. Ruining my moment again" Alexis, checking her watch, "Well we had better get going, visiting time is almost over" and Alexis, Damien and Weevil said "Good Night Rex, Good Night Flaronza" Rex and Flaronza replied with "Good Night" and after that, Alexis, Damien and Weevil leave.
