Ana
"... yes, Darlene... no... of course... no we told you we are going to Aspen this year and we asked you to come with us, but you didn't want to... no one would say that... Darlene, I have to hang up now. See you soon. Bye."
Anya puts her phone away, takes one of the sofa cushions and screams into it.
"I hate her, Ana. No kidding, this woman is out to drive me insane. Last week she came to visit and after she used the bathroom, she called me out, because apparently the toilet paper we use is not fluffy enough for Barney's tushy. Honestly, he would wipe his ass with paper towel if that's all we had." She fumes and I can't help but laugh.
"It's not funny, Ana. I mean you have Grace as a mother in law, it's just not fair that I end up with that she-devil!"
"Did Barney say anything?"
"Yes." She says and starts to laugh. "He told her it doesn't matter, because he likes to wipe his butt with the ugly socks she gave him for Christmas last year."
For a second I stare at her, not quite believing that Barney would speak like that to his mother, but just imagining her face when he said that to her does it for me and soon Anya and I are howling with laughter.
"Wow, did you two had one too many glasses of wine." We both hear Christian's voice and I turn around to find my husband looking sexy as hell in his navy blue three piece suit.
"You are home early; and no, we did not drink. Anya just told me something Barney said to his mother and it was hilarious. Anya can tell you..." I tell him when I hear Nicky over the baby monitor. I quickly give Christian a kiss and hurry up the stairs into Nicky's nursery.
Inside the nursery, I find Nicholas sitting in his crib and crying.
"What's with the tears, darling? Mommy is here." I coo softly and he looks up at me.
"Mama." He sobs and I pick him up and inhale his unique scent. God, I love my baby boy and I still feel guilty because of the way I reacted when I first found out that I was pregnant again.
I was just already so exhausted with two little kids and the thought of going through a third pregnancy in as many years seemed like a nightmare to me. Still, I couldn't imagine life without my little sunshine. Like Teddy he has my usually calm nature, where as Phoebe has Christian's temper. Boy, I love my daughter to death, but I knew the day she was born that we would have our work cut out with her.
If she wants something and doesn't get it she throws a fit unlike anything I have ever seen before. She screams and cries to the point where I am scared she is having a seizure and the only thing that helps is to completely ignore her when it happens. Christian of course worries too much to do that and usually gives in to her demands, which in turn gets him in the doghouse. What he doesn't realize is that she has stopped this behavior around me and Molly, and is only doing it when he is around... but we are working on it.
Teddy, he is a just my perfect little boy, always happy and he has the most amazing imagination. Sometimes at bedtime, he tells me about the stories he has made up during the day and somehow I believe that one day he is going to write novels. I was worried that he would have a hard time adjusting to first Phoebe and then Nicky, but he has taken to being a big brother like a wish to water.
While musing about my three beautiful children, I have managed to change Nicky's diaper and clothes, and just like that, my little sunshine is happy again. He really is an easy baby, he rarely cries and both Christian and I were surprised when at just nine weeks he started to sleep through the entire night. Out of our three kids, he is the only one who inherited my pale skin, dark hair and blue eyes, while Teddy and Phoebe both have copper colored hair and beautiful grey eyes, just like their Daddy.
"Mommy looked." I hear my daughter's voice behind me and gasp when I see her covered in mud from head to toe.
"Phoebe, what happened to you darling." I ask and kneel in front of her with Nicky in my arms.
"Me jumpted in pwuddle." She tells me with a huge grin. Oh boy, she really is something else.
"And are you allowed to jump into big muddy puddles?" I ask and gasp again when I see Molly coming up the stairs and she too is covered in mud.
"I'm so sorry, Ana. I was trying to stop little Miss Piggy here from rolling around in the mud and slipped." She mutters embarrassed.
"It's alright, take a shower, I'll get this little piggy here cleaned up. I'm sure somewhere beneath all that mud and dirt is my beautiful daughter."
"Thank you, Ana." She says and hurries into her room that is at the end of the hallway.
I press the intercom and ask Christian to come up and take Nicky. When Nicky is taken care of, I take my daughter into her bathroom, quickly draw a bath and strip her down.
It's a good thing we have so many toys for the kids to play with in the tub, because Phoebe has huge chunks of mud and dirt in her hair and I have to wash it twice until it's all out, but she just keeps playing with her little sailboat. In the end, the water is so dirty that I have to drain the tub and refill it and after what feels like ages, my daughter is clean again.
"Mommy, me out pway 'gain?" She asks and looks up at me with her beautiful grey eyes.
"Not today, darling. Besides, your Daddy is home and he told me that he wants to play with you and your dollies again." I tell her and she squeals. Just like I am, Phoebe is a daddy's girl and Christian loves it. I never pictured him to play with dolls for hours on end, but if it makes his little princess happy then he is all for it.
"Mommy dwess quick, me daddy pway dollies!" She giggles and I dry her with a fluffy towel, blow dry her hair, which has turned out as quite a challenges with an excited toddler who is bouncing all over the place and finally get her dressed.
Once downstairs she runs right into Christian's arms who is sitting on the floor playing with Teddy and Nicky.
I leave the kids with Christian and walk into the kitchen to make an afternoon snack for the kids.
"Hi Lauren, has my sister already left?"
"Yes, Mrs. Sullivan had a call from your father that she was needed at the office, Mrs. Grey."
"Okay, thank you Lauren and sorry about the muddy mess in the hallway."
"Don't worry, I'm right on it, I was just finishing the shopping list for tomorrow, it's over there if you want to add something."
"I'll look over it as soon as the kids had their snack." Once Lauren is out of the kitchen, I look around and quickly open one of the cupboards where I am hiding my secret stack of Hershey's Kisses and eat three of them before I continue to make the snack for the kids.
I know I shouldn't have chocolate, but I just can't help it, if I want to be able to keep up with three active kids I need some sugar and it's not like I don't burn it off during the day. Since I had Nicky, I have given up my efforts to ever fit into my old clothes again and I am now proud to wear a size six instead of my old two or four. I like my new curves and I know that Christian does too, so that is all that really matters to me. Of course, some of the gossip blogger and magazines wrote some mean spirited articles about me. Mostly that I obviously have no self-discipline, because instead of being seen in my workout clothes on the way to the gym, all they get is pictures of me having lunch with friends, dinner with Christian or on the playground with my children wearing old jeans and sweatshirts.
I still like to dress up and wear sexy clothes to please my husband, but honestly, why would I wear six-inch heels and designer dresses on the playground? Whoever wrote these articles has obviously never been to a playground or is way more coordinated than I am.
The other thing that has changed about me is my hair. I loved to wear my hair long and I didn't cut it like really short, but my formerly waist long hair is now cut in layers which reach my breasts. I love my new haircut, but Christian was pouting at first. He loves my hair when it is really long, but even he had to admit that taking an hour each morning to blow dry it into some sort of style was just wasted time. Time I can now devote to him and lots of morning sex, so by now he really loves my shorter hair as this new haircut has been quite beneficial to him.
As soon as the snack is ready and I call the kids. Teddy and Phoebe come running into the kitchen. Out of all meals of the day, they love their afternoon snack the most. Mainly because it's always something they can just eat with their hands. Teddy already uses his little spoon and fork like a pro, while Phoebe often goes back to using her hands, but we are getting there with her. After all Christian has promised her that once she has mastered the skill of using a fork and spoon to eat, he will take her out to dinner like a big girl.
Teddy on the other hand never needed any kind of bribery to use cutlery, once he figured out that most foods are easier to eat with it, he was all for it. However, in Phoebe's defense I have to say that she is only two years old and she is left handed, which sometimes seems to make things a little more difficult for her. Christian's grandma wanted us to teach her to use her right hand, which was often done back when she was a child, but neither Christian nor I thought that was a good idea and we've found many studies that backed our opinion on the matter up.
One thing that really surprised me was how easy it was to get Phoebe potty trained. By the time she turned two she didn't need diapers anymore, while with Teddy it took us until he was three years old to get him out of his diapers. Grace says girls are often faster and easier when it comes to potty training, so I am curious if Nicky will need longer too. Though I suspect that he will be quicker than his older brother when it comes to potty training. He likes to take his diapers off already and isn't too happy when I put a new one on him, so maybe he will be more like his sister when the times comes to get him out of his diapers.
Honestly, I'm looking forward to that day. I have changed so many diapers in the last for years, at one point I was sure that we would all drown in shitty diapers.
While Phoebe and Teddy are munching away on their snack, I feed Nicky his snack and put some blueberries on the tray of his highchair, though he usually only plays with them, but sometimes he manages to eat some of them.
"Hi Ana, can I help?" Molly asks when she enters the kitchen.
"Yes, could you please go to Phoebe's room and take her dirty clothes from the bathroom, with a little luck all the mud and dirt will get out in the laundry.
"Okay, do you mind if I wash my dirty clothes with Phoebe's?" She asks and I roll my eyes.
"Molly, you've lived here for over a year now, you should know that I don't mind that at all."
"I know, but you know, it's your home."
"It's yours too as long as you work here." I call after her when she makes her way upstairs and I sigh. I can't even imagine that Molly is going to move back to Brisbane next year. The kids are really going to miss her, but I know we can't keep her here. She wants to study and I know she will go far; still I am going to really miss her.
In the evening long after the children are asleep Christian and I are enjoying a glass of wine in front of the fireplace.
"Mrs. Roberts called, all of the Christmas presents have arrived and she has stored them in our walk in closet for us." Christian tells me. We've decided to send all the presents to Aspen a week early. This way we don't risk Teddy or Phoebe finding them before Christmas. Last year Teddy nearly caught us putting the gifts under the tree and I don't want him to find out that Santa isn't real yet. I want all of our kids to believe in Santa as long as possible, because it makes Christmas all the more special to them.
"That's great." I yawn and nuzzle his chest. Hmm, he smells so good...
"Are you tired?"
"We have three kids under the age of five; I'm up since six in the morning, now it's ten in the evening. Please tell me that wasn't a serious question." I mutter.
"Careful with your smart mouth, Mrs. Grey or I have to spank you."
"Maybe a spanking will wake me up." I grin against his chest.
"Really, you want to risk getting on the naughty list this close to Christmas?" He asks while his fingers trail up my leg.
"But I have been naughty all year, Mr. Grey. Just for you." I add and he chuckles.
"Oh Anastasia Grey, what am I going to do with you?" He asks amused and I gaze up at my too-handsome-for-his-own-good husband and remember the wild ride that has been the beginning of our relationship. I would go through all of it again in a heartbeat, just to be here right in this moment.
"Do you remember the first time you kissed me?" I ask and he smirks.
"Yes, it was at your parents place, you had just returned from Europe and after a rather heated argument between us you called me gay and I showed you just how straight I am." He recalls the day of our first kiss.
"Maybe you need to do that to me again, only this time I think I need a more thorough demonstration of how straight you are." I tell him in a challenging tone and squeal when he gets up from the floor with me in his arms in one fluid movement.
"Well Mrs. Grey, we aim to please."
I look at his lovely face as he carries me up the stairs to our bedroom and I just know that Christian and I were always meant to be... because he is and always will be my happily ever after...
THE END
So, this was the last chapter of The Wild Ones ... I really can't thank each one of you my dear readers enough for reading this story. I was asked quite a lot in the last couple of weeks if I would consider to write a sequel to this story. I have given it much thought, but I think I have put A & C through enough drama in this story and while I enjoy to write fluff, I am a sucker for drama, so that would mean putting these two through more drama... and I do believe that they really deserve their HEA. HOWEVER, while thinking about it, I came up with something else.
A lot of you have told me that you enjoyed the little tidbits of Ana and Christian growing up together throughout the story. So, I have decided that whenever I have the time, I will add a one shot of A & C while they were growing up. It won't be a full story, more like a series of one-shots in no particular order... If you have any ideas or requests for a one shot you would like to see, just let me know...
For now however, this story is complete and I am now officially taking a hiatus from FF until baby Hannah is born and things have settled down...
Again thank you all so much for you support of this story!
Lots of love,
Sunny
