Evening fell on Danville, as an always busy Ferb Fletcher was working endlessly on his assignment for College Level Chemistry. Chemistry was always a favorite science of Ferb's, most likely because it came natural to him.
One thing about being smart, Ferb always thought, was that he had a hard time understanding how people didn't understand things. Everything in his mind was as easy as the alphabet, but some would struggle for hours on something that took him seconds to get.
This, he thought, must've been what had made him almost mad at Phineas for not acting upon his feelings for Isabella for so long. It was so obvious: the looks of desire, the constant blushing, the picnic when they were younger, everything pointed to love. Why didn't Phineas just go for this like 5 years ago?
After about an hours work on his essay, Ferb decided to go out for a ride. His bike, which he had tricked out with LED's, light up the dark street. Ferb was never much of a fan of the dark, though his first love was a goth chick. Smiling, Ferb rode through the small town thinking about the end of his youth.
The gang was going into junior year, Candace was finishing up college with her degree in communication. Everything in life was moving fast. Even the innocent Phineas was finally growing up. The streets that he once tackled with his crazy summer shenanigans, were now appearing smaller and so routine. His nightmare was slowly being realized, this was it.
Ferb always felt a slight obligation to keep Phineas protected from the evils of the world. Maybe this was because of his brotherly instincts, or just his selfish desire to still have the hopes of an endless summer.
Ferbs ride took him to the park in the center of Danville, one the gang would play in for hours. He sat and watched cars go by for a few minutes alone, until he saw Jeremy Johnson walking his dog.
"Ferb?" Jeremy asked, squinting his eyes. "Hey man can I join you?" To which Ferb nodded, motioning for Jeremy to sit down next to him.
Jeremy, after college, came back and taught English in the local middle school. He and Candace were still dating, and would probably marry once Candance finished school. Ferb and Jeremy always had an understanding, as Ferb often did with the older people in his life.
"You look like you've seen a ghost Ferb, you alright?!" Jeremy used the right word then. A ghost. That's what everything Ferb once held dear seemed to become, a part of the past.
"The town just feels different tonight, that's all." Ferb said, lookimg up into the dark sky.
"I guess it starts to when you're older. But Ferb, remember it's still home". And in the way that he always did, Jeremy fell as quiet as Ferb, and sat until Ferb got up to say goodbye.
Ferb thought about that for the rest of the night. How everything was so different, but it was still home. And the people he loved were different now, but still he loved them so.
THERE IT IS I FINALLY REVIEWING AND TALKING
