The world has a way of looking quite strange at 2 am. The way the pavement sparkles with fresh dew in the moonlight, the way the air feels almost abandoned-heavy, with the feeling that for a brief moment you can own the sky you're under. This was the atmosphere that Isabella sat in, on her back porch, with her laptop on the table, and Drew on Skype.

Isabellas mom always wanted to get to bed early, so Isabella went outside to talk to Drew and get some Fireside Girl work done. With Drew's face in the corner of the screen and the Fireside Girls handbook on her lap, Isabella went to work on organizing the presentation for her big Fireside Girl Cadet project.

After years of preparation and dedication, Isabella, Gretchen and all of the girls were on their ways to becoming Cadets. They all decided that they had to finish what they started together, so each girl in their troop would do one part of the assignment, and then email it to Isabella so she could edit and make them presentable for the big council at the ceremony.

Drew, a grammar wiz, had decided to help Isabella with editing.

"Well, this is looking like an interesting project. You excited for the ceremony?" Drew asked. With the ceremony on Sunday evening, Isabella had to pull an all nighter tonight in order to get the presentation done.

"I am so shocked that in a few short hours, I won't be able to be a Fireside girl anymore. I keep saying it, but until it happens I am not sure that I believe it." Isabella sighed, going through all of the patches that the girls had earned and picking which ones they felt were the most important to present was difficult.

The final project was to show how being a fireside girl had made you grow as a person, using patches to symbolize what you took away from the experience.

"Well I know you're going to kill it with the closing remarks tomorrow. You're a really smart person and I believe in you. For every door that closes, another opens." Drew said yawning.

"Drew, I think you should go to sleep. It's quite late and I think you've done more than enough to help me." Isabella looked up at the corner of the screen. She looked directly into the camera then and gave Drew her biggest smile, with her eyes pleading for him to sleep.

Drew nodded, and through another yawn said "Alright Ms. Cadet. I will see you in a couple hours at the ceremony. Get to bed soon beautiful."

"You're so sweet. I promise I will try. Sweet dreams" Isabella said, ending the call. Looking back over on the skype homepage, she saw that Phineas was online. Quickly, Isabella turned her status to invisible, just so he wouldn't try and talk to her.

She needed room to think, and that's why she had sent Drew to bed. Even though he was quiet and respectful throughout the entire process of a stressed Isabella, she still felt like she couldn't just bug out in front of him. He would get nervous.

Drew was a very amazing boy, but sometimes when it came to teenage girl emotions, he was lost. Isabella always felt bad about making him uncomfortable, which made her think.

What's the use of being with someone you're afraid to make uncomfortable by being yourself?

No, she was just being crazy. Right? This is how dating goes, least it seemed like it. She was perfectly okay. Drew was so sweet. Everything was fine. But was it? Yes. It had to be.

This back and forth paranoia plagued Isabella from working. She decided to power through the rest of the organizing. It wasn't perfect, but it was enough. She could talk her way around the imperfection. "Gosh" she thought, "Phineas would be proud. Winging an entire presentation at the most important ceremony of my life." And then suddenly, she realised.

"I didn't invite Phineas." In a panic. Isabella raced back to her laptop and saw that Phineas was still on skype. She opened up quickly and im'd him "Are you up?".

And a few minutes later, she got a reply.
