A Sith and her Slave Chapter 5

Veme Tabirs was pacing around the cockpit of her Fury-class ship. Anger boiled beneath the young Sith-warrioress' relatively calm exterior as they approached the space battle that was raging in front of them.

The Republic capital ship was in a pretty bad condition and it this point not much more than a defenseless wreck. Some republic fighters were still trying to fend of the overwhelming amount of attackers but their ultimate defeat was close at hand. Not far away the imperial ship, which was undoubtedly responsible, loomed triumphal.

"Try to contact the bridge of the imperial ship", Veme addressed Vette, who was co-piloting the Fury with Quinn: "I want an explanation from them why they think they can just disobey orders that came from the Wrath of the emperor."

"Right away", replied the blue-skinned Twi'lek with rather unusual seriousness. After a few moments she finally reported: "They are answering." True enough the holoprojector in the cockpit came to life and the image of a young woman with some cybernetic implants on the right side of her face appeared before Veme.

"Imperial Destroyer "Roaring Fury" picking up your call. What is the reason for contacting us? As you might be able to see, we are in the middle of a battle here." Trying to stay calm the redheaded woman answered: "My name is Veme Tabris and you might have heared of me before." The woman on the other end of the line became visibly nervous as soon as the name of the young warioress fell. She regained her composure very quickly however and immediately bowed before Veme: "My Lord Wrath it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Don't worry my Lord, we have everything under control here. The Republic will be defeated shortly. For the empire!"

"Are you trying to take me for a fool?" the young Sith snapped at the other woman: "I'm well aware that your target is a Ship full of force sensitive children that you intend to slaughter in spite of the fact that I've explicitly told the dark council to stop acts like this. Many neutral parties already aligned themselves with the Republic because of such wanton slaughter on our side. If the Empire keeps committing war crimes all we'll accomplish is to make our enemy appear more sympathetic. So I'll give you exactly one chance to stop this madness and retreat without any repercussions and you better take it unless you want me to lose my temper."

The woman on the holoprojector gulped uneasily and nervously replied: "My Lord, believe me, if I was in charge I would gladly accept your offer. My boss however will see this quite different and to be honest I fear her wrath much more than the one of the emperor. So I'm sorry to say that we won't stop our attack."

"That is unacceptable", retorted Veme in a low but threatening voice: "If you refuse to obey my command I could very well see that as treason against the emperor and then I'll have to resort to more aggressive methods."

Her counterpart just smiled sadly and said: "Very well, do what you must. I'll give you a warning though: turn around and fly away. There is nothing to be gained here for you. If you stay my boss will take delight in destroying you. Captain, end the transmission."

With the last word her holographic form flickered out of existence. "Well, she sure has confidence in that boss of hers, I'll give her that", claimed Vette: "We are going to ignore her warning though and go kick some ass instead, aren't we?" Her Sith-girlfriend gave her a smirk and answered: "Of course we are. I'm not going to let them get away with this. Bring us to one of the hangars of the republic ship. We need to delay a boarding party.

Neiya Chault felt nothing but pain. Just this moment Zarka's steel-clad fist once again slammed down on her already bruised face. She let out a low whine and unsuccessfully tried to straighten her composure in the iron grip of the battle droid that forced her to stay on her feet.

"I'm asking you again my dear girl", said Zarka, the bounty hunter, cheerfully: "What is the combination for the bridges security lockdown?" Neiya, her blonde captor and a good dozen imperial soldiers and battle droids were situated right before the tightly sealed door to the command bridge where the Jedi-younglings were gathered when the attack started. An impenetrable force-field was as well as a locked security door were denying the attackers entrance for the moment though. One of the tech specialists was still trying to slice the defensive systems via a security terminal. So Far he had been unsuccessful.

Unforunately for the poor padawan her captor had decided that some torture on Neiya might speed things up. Or maybe she just wanted to keep herself entertained that way. Neiya wasn't too sure about the bounty hunters motivations herself. The young girl defiantly stared at Zarka, her face bruised, battered and wet from blood and tears but still unbroken. "I won't tell you anything you monster. Never!" she managed to spit out between sobs and gasps of pain.

The blond bounty hunter snickered then surprisingly started to slowly caress her victim's cheek and whispered: "Oh my dear, of course you will. Eventually everybody breaks. There is only so much pain you'll be able to withstand before you'll tell me everything I want to know and more. This was merely the beginning. I will show you whole new dimensions of pain you coulnd't even imagine now. Before another hour is over I will have all the information I need and you will beg me to kill you, which will be a mercy at the time. How does that sound my dear girl?"

Neiya couldn't do anything but try to suppress her ever growing terror as a frightful whimper escaped her throat. Zarka, obviously enjoying the pain of the Padawan in an almost perverse way, chuckled darkly.

The Tech-specialist at the security terminal cleared his throat and the blonde woman turned her head to face him, raising an eyebrow. He hastily said: "Actually it shouldn't take much more than a couple of minutes now for me to crack their security algorithms, Ma'am." The bounty hunter nodded and turned back towards her captive with a malicious smile and proved that the torture was just for her own sick entertainment after all by saying: "It looks like might not get to spend much time together unfortunately. But don't be upset just yet, I'm sure I can at least show you some new dimensions of pain before I'll have to attend more important business."

Neiya braced herself for further agony but all of a sudden a beeping sound emitted from Zarka's belt. Frowning the blond woman grabber her holo-communicator. And answered it. Another young woman with short spiky hair and cybernetic implants in her face appeared in shades of blue.

"Yes, what is it Mako?" asked the blond bounty hunter seemingly annoyed at the interruption. Mako replied: "Well, sorry to interrupt whatever needless violence you are indulging in at the moment boss, but I think I should inform you that no one less than the Wrath of the emperor herself just contacted us. From what I've understood she is not too pleased about my refusal to stop this operation and retreat." Zarka's Eyes lit up: "Veme Tabris is here?"

Her subordinate answered: "Yes, she just landed in hangar two of the Republic Ship, presumably to stop you."

Zarka nodded and said: "Thanks for the warning Mako." Then she switched of her holo-communicator andturned her attention back to her unfortunate captive.

"Sorry little girl, but it seems like I've found myself a much more interesting toy to play with." Before Neiya could react the blond woman hit her in the face with full force, finally letting her escape into blissful unconsciousness.

Veme and her crew exited the Fury after they had just successfully landed in the Republic hangar without trouble. The redheaded Sith warioress looked around. The hangar was a mess. The walls, the floor and the ceiling were blackened from blaster fire, multiple burning wrecks of mostly republic fighters littered around and the corpses of imperial and republic combatants were strewn all over the place.

Unfortunately their arrival had not been unnoticed. A dozen imperial soldiers were approaching them already. "Orders are to kill everyone that interferes. Open fire!" one of them barked. The men obeyed immediately and the sound of blaster-fire echoed through the hangar. Vemes superhuman reflexes kicked in and her two lightsabers practically flew into her hands. The red blades flashed up and deflected the incoming balser-shots. Besides her Jaesa's yellow double-bladed lasersword flashed up as well. In the first first second four of the attackers already met their fate when their shots were directed back at them.

Then the rest of the Sit warioress' crew went into action as well. Vette dropped to her knees, dodging enemy fire, drew her blasters and fired a volley at the imperial soldiers. Proving once again that she an extremely skilled combatant no less than three of the opponents dropped to the floor motionless. Quinn who stood behind Veme in order to profit from her shots-deflecting lightsaber quickly dispatched one of the attackers with a perfectly aimed headshot while Pierce did the same from behind Jaesa.

Realizing that they were hopelessly outmatched the remaining imperial soldiers turned around to flee. They didn't make it far. Broonmark jumped after them and into a flurry of white fur, deadly claws and a shimmering vibroblade tore into them. Moments later they joined their comrades on the ground.

Veme looked around for further dangers in the hunger and after finding none said: "Good work everyone. Malavai, where is the Bridge situated?" "If this ship uses the standard layout for republic vessels it will be in this direction." the ever dutiful Captain replied and pointed to a security door that had obviously been opened forcefully by explosives not too long ago. "Let's get moving then." Veme ordered and led the way.

The team entered a corridor through the ruined gate and started their way to the bridge. They didn't come far undisturbed however. A few turns later they were walking around a corner and suddenly came face to face with a pair of hulking, silver battle-droids. The insect-like robots reacted immediately. Their red shining optics fixated themselves newcomers and simultaneously the two droids started firing. A merciless storm of blaster-fire broke loose. Veme and Jaesa jumped in front of their other companions and did their best to deflect all shots before they could cause any harm.

"Stay back!" the young redheaded Sith shouted while reflecting laserbeams right back at the droids. They bounced right off the machines' armorplating without causing much harm. Vette and Quinn were shooting at the droids from behind their force sensitive friends but their weapons were just as ineffective.

The robots continued their incessant assault and started to march forward coming ever closer to the group which also had the unfortunate effect of their shots getting harder to deflect. "Pierce, Now!" Veme cried out and the Lieutenant acted. He threw the grenade he had been readying for the past few seconds between the two droids. Shrill sounding warning signals were the only reaction the two machines could muster before the grenade exploded with a deafening bang. The young Sith warrioress and her companions shielded their faces from the flames and debris that was launched in the air. When Veme opened her eyes again nothing but two burnt husks remained of the hostile droids and the way was clear.

"Let us move on. All the noise we made can't have gone unnoticed", Vette urged. Her Sith girlfriend was about to agree when the Twi'lek's assessment was proven right straight away. Suddenly the sound of footsteps echoed through the corridor behind them. The sound of many footsteps that marched in step. "Shit, turns out you are right. Looks like they decided to respond to our meddling with excessive force," growled Pierce while turning around.

Just as he finished these words the first line of imperial soldiers came in view at the end of the corridor. The Lieutenant quickly shot in their direction, forcing them to take cover. Veme cursed while her crew did the same. "We don't have time for extended firefights", she shouted over the sound of the battle that started to break out between her team and the ever growing number of hostile soldiers down the corridor: "The life of those younglings the Jedi was talking about are on the line." "Yes and if we don't save them we can't uphold our part of the deal that will free high ranking imperial leaders from Republic custody." Quinn added. Jaesa agreed: "Yes master, it could be too late any minute if it isn't already. You must go and save them. We can distract the soldiers for you in the meantime."

The young Sith warioress eyed her apprentice uneasily: "Are you sure you can manage this without my help?" Suddenly Vette chimed in between shooting down approaching soldiers: "Yes we can handle it. Just go. I mean when have we ever let you down?" With a last worried glance at her girlfriend and friends Veme sighed and retorted: "Very well, take care though." Her gace lingered tenderly on that of her blue-skinned lover for a few moments then she started to zigzag down the other direction of the corridor away from the fight and toward the bridge while her crew continued to hold the position. Over the sounds of battle she could hear Vette shouting after her: "Hey, don't get that cute little ass of yours in too much trouble without me by the way." The young woman couldn't help but smile.
