Welcome Home - Fluffy addition pt 3

"Is that…a chicken?" Sanji asked, staring at the limp, feathered body in Zoro's hands.

"Yeah," Zoro replied, setting the dead bird up on the counter, next to the cutting board Sanji had been working at.

"Don't set it there!" Sanji reprimanded. "That's unsanitary! Who knows what kind of diseases that thing could be carrying!"

Zoro ignored him, leaving the bird where he left it and heading for the closet to take off his coat. Despite his bitching, Sanji didn't move to follow him, instead he remained in the kitchen, staring at the offending fowl. When Zoro returned, he fixed the man with a questioning look.

"It's a gift. I thought you'd be sick of cooking the same thing every day," Zoro shrugged. He looked slightly uncomfortable. "I thought...you'd like to eat something other than my usual kills for once."

Sanji sighed but made no other sounds as he picked up the cutting board. He slid the hunk of meat he'd been preparing for their dinner aside, laying it on the plate with the finished pieces, and rinsed the blood from the cutting board.

He looked at the chicken again. It was small, and with Zoro's appetite it would barely make one meal. He sighed again, turning back to face his lover. Zoro wore an anxious look, and Sanji's face softened. He moved closer, wrapping his armed lovingly around the green haired man's neck and placing a gentle kiss against his lips.

"I'll cook the chicken tonight," Sanji said to him, his voice soft and his expression gentle and loving. "But just for the record, I enjoy cooking and eating your kills. I've developed a taste for them even," He said with a smile. "So don't worry about my getting bored with it. Human meat suits me just fine."

Zoro pulled him closer for another kiss, reminded once again of just how perfect Sanji was for him.
