Hello! I am so sorry I haven't updated in forever! So much has been happening in my life and I was too overwhelmed to write anything! Thankfully I am on break right now so hopefully I will be able to get some creative literature conjured! Enjoy!

Astrid jumped onto her suitcase in an attempt to close it. Even though she would only be in Amsterdam for a few days, she wanted to be prepared for anything. Another side effect of cancer.

After successfully zipping the suitcase shut, Astrid rolled it out to the front door. Her mother had already packed so now they were just waiting for Hiccup to show up in the provided transportation from the genies. She walked into the kitchen where her mother was making homemade biscuits with eggs. Picking up her biscuit she had filled with eggs, a thought struck her.

"Who decided that eggs solely serve as breakfast food? If I just took my eggs off my biscuit, it could be a sandwich for lunch. But since I put eggs on it, society declares it as a breakfast sandwich."

"Would having breakfast for dinner when you come back make you happy?" Her dad asked with his mouth full.

"No it wouldn't. I want to have eggs for dinner without society thinking I am dysfunctional and have no sense of the standard meal times." Astrid declared. After breakfast was over, Astrid's father wheeled the suitcases out to the edge of the driveway to wait for Hiccup. As soon as they stopped they heard a car horn and looked to the end of the road. They saw none other than Hiccup, a cigarette in his mouth, with his arms spread out like he was flying, standing half out of the sun roof of a long black limo. The limo slowed to a smooth stop in front of their driveway.

"Like I told the genies," Hiccup said. "I travel in style or I don't travel at all."

"We're going to Amsterdam!" Astrid couldn't contain herself and began to jump up and down, something she couldn't remember the last time doing. Her parents held on to her shoulders to steady her but she ignored it. She turned and hugged her father to say goodbye then slid into the door of the limo that had been opened for by the driver. Her mother climbed in next to her and they drove off.

….

Astrid and her mother had taken two seats at the gate waiting for their plane's departure time. Hiccup had walked off to seek out a suitable milkshake leaving Astrid to re-read An Imperial Affliction. She still couldn't come to grips with the reality that she would finally get her long held answers. The one answer she had to know… was what happened to Abby's mother after her daughter's passing…

"What's in your nose?" A young boy's voice interrupted her thoughts. Astrid looked up to see a boy about nine years old in front of her with curious eyes. She remembered seeing him at the security gate.

"Gustav!" A woman who was probably his mother exclaimed in shock at her son's boldness. "I'm so sorry" she apologized as she began to pull Gustav away.
"No no no it's fine." Astrid held her hand out in affability. "This is called a cannula, it helps me breathe." Astrid explained pointing to the tube then she pointed to the oxygen tank. "My little friend right here feeds oxygen through the tube."

"Would it help me breathe better too?" Gustav questioned.

"Maybe," Astrid chuckled lightly. "Would you like to try?"

Gustav nodded eagerly. Smiling at his eagerness, Astrid took a deep breath before unhooking the cannula from her ears and turning it around. Gustav stepped closer as she hooked it over his ears and put the small tubes into his nostrils.

He giggled. "It tickles," he said with a smile. He turned around for his mother to see. Her eyes widened a bit but she smiled as well. "Yeah, that's really something."

"I think I'm breathing better." Gustav concluded as he turned back to her.

"Well I would love to give it to you, but I kinda need the help." Astrid said. Gustav took off the cannula and gave it back to its owner. Astrid skillfully put the cannula back on.

"Thanks for letting me try it." Gustav said.

"You're welcome," Astrid said smiling warmly.

"It's time to go Gustav," his mother stood up placing a hand on his shoulder. "Thank you, have a nice flight." She smiled and waved good bye.

"Goodbye Gustav," Astrid waved. Gustav waved goodbye before following his mother. Hiccup, holding a chocolate milkshake, walked up just as Gustav walked away. He glanced down to Astrid curiously.

"What'd I miss?"

….

Astrid leaned her head back against the seat and closed her eyes to relax. The plane would be taking off any minute now. The sound of nervous fiddling caused her to open her eyes. She looked and saw Hiccup, who was obviously very apprehensive about the near ascending. Her eyes widened at his shaken confidence.

"Have you never flown on a plane before?" She asked.

Hiccup seemed to snap out of his jittery fit at her voice. He looked to her with wide green eyes. "No." He confessed and double checked his seat belt. The plane moved and started its takeoff. Hiccup gripped onto the seat. "Oh gods…" He breathed.

"Hiccup now you know what it's like to be in a car with you." Astrid laughed. "Hardy har, very funny." Hiccup said with his voice dripping with his famous sarcasm. The plane picked up speed at a substantially accelerated rate. Hiccup fell back against his seat. Without either of them realizing it, they reached for each other's hands. Lacing their fingers together tightly they felt the plane leave the ground and ascend into the air.

Hiccup looked out the window. "Oh my gods, we're flying!" He exclaimed. "We're defying gravity!" He looked like an ecstatic young boy with wide excited eyes. Astrid smiled at his adorable attitude and leaned over and pecked him on the cheek. Hiccup's eyes lit up even more as her lips touched his cheek.

"You two are so cute," Mrs. Hofferson said, who had been watching the whole scene unfold.

"We are just friends," Astrid stated firmly. Hiccup leaned over.

"Well, she is, I-I'm not." Hiccup clarified.
