I was sitting alone at the archery area, thinking about my first day at camp.
Almost everyone in camp heard what happened in the bathrooms and everyone who was talking about it. I had a girl, with curly blond with a gray steak hair and gray eyes come up to me and told me I'd be playing in her team...what every that meant.
I wasn't even in camp for a day and I'm already a punching bag a team player for something I don't know about, and the talk of camp. I've had Greek and Latin verb classes, monster 101, sword fighting, which I suck at, and archery lessons and I got a killer backache!
Does every new camper feel so...so overwhelmed?! i would never have come if I knew it would be this hard. If you don't do your homework, you will literally die. There are too many Greek and Latin verbs my head feels ready to explode, and it doesn't help that I have dyslexia either. I also have to learn about the Greek/Roman gods, their symbols, how to spell that names and who their parents are! I can't hold still during any of the lessons because of my ADHD, and just about every time I'm called on, I couldn't give an answer.
"Feeling overwhelmed?"
I jumped when I heard someone speak. I looked up to see Chiron. I nodded my head. Chiron laid down beside me, so he was somewhat my level.
"Hard first day child?"
"You could say that again. I didn't know it would be so hard. I've mad an enemy, I'm the talk of camp and I've been recruited for a game I don't know!"
"It appears I forgot to explain capture the flag."
I couldn't help it, I started to cry. Chiron put a comforting hand on my shoulder.
"I understand this is difficult to handle, Raven. Being a demigod is never easy. In time, you will except your heritage."
"But I'm still unclaimed, how can I possibly except my heritage, if I don't know who my mother is?"
"I don't know, my dear, I'm sure you will be calmed soon. The gods are expected to clam their children now. "
Hours have passed since Chiron's and mine's little talk, and the campers were standing outside of the forest, in armor of red and blue. I was on the blue team, which was Athena, Nike, Hephaestus and Hermes cabin; the girl from before, who is Annaebth Chase a daughter of Athena was captain of the blue team. Luckily for me, Hector was on the red team, which was Ares, Aphrodite, Dionysus, Demeter Apollo and Zeus cabin; it may sound unfair, but Hephaestus and Hermes are the biggest cabin, so the odds are even.
The huntresses were put into two groups and split into red and blue team, I was over by War and Love, who weren't playing because they were gods, getting help with my armor and some last minute tips.
"Do you have a job yet?" Love asked.
"Um flag guard by myself." I said.
"What was Annabeth thinking, you're not experienced enough yet." War said messing with my sword belt.
"Who knows, where's your breastplate?"
"I din't bring it..."
"What why?!" War asked angrily.
"It hurts my back. My back has been bugging me lately..."
War and Love looked at me, as if I had two heads, but didn't say anything more about it.
"Blue team, move out!" Annabeth ordered.
"Good luck." Love said.
I'll need it. I ran to catch up with the other blue team members as they entered the woods. From the corner of my eye I saw Hector and Annabeth talking, I also saw Hector looking at me and smirking.
"What in the world did I get myself into?" I asked nobody.
About five minutes into the game, I was at my post, when I heard wrestling in some bushes just north of me. Taking out my sword, I held it up, trying to look like I know what I was doing; trying being the key word here.
The wrestling got loader and loader then silence, I walked over to the bushes and flinched as a raven flow out of the bush. I felt a little better knowing it was a bird and not another camper. I put a hand on my chest and took a deep breath.
"Ahh, Little Birdy all by herself."
I jumped and turned to see Hector, with a big smirk on his face.
Oh I'm in trouble.
"Hector...w-what do you want?" I asked slowly.
Hector just laughed and lightning suddenly surround him.
Oh yeah, I'm in big trouble.
Hector walked up, close to the flag and I was worried about letting the blue team down, Then I remembered the lightning. Hector's lightning suddenly left his body and shoat at me. I wanted to move, but I wasn't fast enough; lightning hot ,my left eye. I screamed as I backed away holding my left eye as I did.
"You messed with the wrong demigod." Hector said laughing.
I looked up and saw Hector coming closer. I clenched my hand tightly and the ground started to shake beneath his feet.
"What the-"
Suddenly the ground split open and giant vines grew, tangling Hector up as they did.
"Let me down!"
I ignored him and fell to my knees and let out a load scream. My back was hurting again, but it felt like something was ripping it apart.
"Raven!" Someone yelled.
I kept screaming and I felt something taring out of my back and black feathers were on the ground. Gasping for breath, I heard once again someone yell my name, before I passed out.
"Raven!"
