Kagura watched Shigure leave, then Kyo, then Kazuma. Everyone was filing out, but Kagura was too scared to leave. What if Kyo didn't love her, like Akito had said? What if everything hurt?

"Kagura, it's time to go," Hatori said when he returned from giving Kiri to Kana. Kagura looked at the dragon strangely, but Hatori only smiled.

"You have nothing to fear, Kagura. Akito wasn't lying," he reassured. Then, he went back into the back rooms to prepare for the funeral.

Heartened by this, Kagura clutched her cat bag and left the building, her heart seizing up when she saw Kyo on the roof, waiting for her.

It was so hard, resisting the urge to hit him. She loved him so much, but he rejected her! It was worth it, though.

They grew older, and she struggled more when she hit puberty. She met Tohru, who had been so caring and nice. Kyo avoided her still.

Master came to visit, and in the process saved Kyo from hiding. It was painful, sitting in Shigure's house, waiting to find out if the girl could save her Kyo. Painful to realize that she herself couldn't help the man she loved more than anyone else in the world.

That realization lead her to kiss Kyo, and, to her amazement, he kissed back. Her temper was more under control, now that Kyo had accepted her, and Kyo spent more and more time with her. Hatori noticing and cautioning them against allowing Akito to find out.

A pattern forming between the two of them; Kyo was horrible when it came to expressing himself and, for Kagura and Kyo, "I know" came to mean, "I love you, too."

"I know that you can't say 'I love you' the way I do," Kagura had told him early on, "But that's okay. I know what you mean."

Kyo had looked at her with surprise and relief. "I love… I love that you know stuff like that about me," he'd said, blushing as he changed what he said at the last minute, unable to follow through.

"I know," Kagura said, kissing his cheek.

Hearing that Akito was calling in the Inner Circle to prepare for his death, knowing that she should be hurting about it more than she was. She was a bit relieved, truth be told, that now she and Kyo could love openly.

"Kyo?" Kagura called, "Come down here! Tohru will want you to come home with us!" Kyo obeyed, smirking as he towered over Kagura. "I love you," Kagura said softly.

Kyo leaned down and kissed her hair. "I know."
