Lilly sprang out of the car and before she could even smash her fists into Kenny's front door, her eyes darted to the neighbors front lawn, where she saw him emerge. By the look on his face, he was surprised to see her. "Christ, what is it this time?"

She glared at him, "Putting your goddamn garbage cans in my driveway."

"Now listen here-"

"No!" Lilly snapped with a wave of her finger, brow creased, eyes narrowing. "I come home after a nice, long, relaxing cruise, and the first fucking thing I have to deal with when I get back is your garbage cans damaging the exterior of my car." Lilly caught sight of Lee emerging from the house that had been for sale the last time she was there.

"I see you've found yourself another drinking buddy." she sneered, rolling her eyes. "I swear to god, Kenny–"

"Will you calm the fuck down?" Kenny hissed. "You'll wake the whole goddamn neighborhood at this rate!"

"I'm sure your trash cans got that job done." Lilly snapped.

"It ain't my fault your eyes are worse than Duck's great grandfather." Kenny shot back, crossing his arms. "You weren't even supposed to be back until next week."

Lee had been watching the dispute from afar and remained silent but finally made his way over to them. "Hold up now, I'm sure something can be worked out here."

Lilly shook her head and shot Kenny a menacing glare. "This guy has been giving me hell since the day I moved in. I'm not expecting a miracle anytime soon."

Lee blinked and exchanged a glance with Kenny, expecting a retort but got nothing. "Let's just drop it for now, alright? No need to cause a commotion at this hour."

Lilly scoffed, "Oh, Mr. Kenny Hawkins here always finds a way to cause commotion."

Kenny's lip was curled, mustache scrunching with agitation. He looked at Lee and gave a curt nod. "I don't have time for this. Night Lee. Good to know we'll have some normalcy in this goddamned neighborhood."

"HA." Lilly mocked. Kenny let out a growl and turned, retreating to his house.

Lilly turned to the dark man standing several feet away. "Guess you're new here. I didn't catch you name."

"It's Lee. Lee Everett."

"Lilly." she glanced downward. "I'm sorry you had to see that…it's just been a rough couple of days for me."

"I understand." Lee responded with a solemn nod.

"Well…it's getting late…and I've got to pick my dad up at the hospital first thing tomorrow morning."

"Is he sick?"

"Just a heart condition. Nothing too serious if the doctors keep him medicated on the right stuff."

"Well, he's lucky to have someone like you looking after him." Lee remarked, attempting to lighten the mood after such a tense confrontation between Lilly and Kenny. Lilly managed to form a small smile. "Hopefully, we'll meet again under less contentious circumstances." Lee added.

Lilly gave him a doubtful glance. "Not in this neighborhood."
