A/N: Maybe this chapter needs a bit of explanation. Logan is starting to suffer again and is already feeling very insecure (in this fictional story of course). His friends already notice this, but he still doesn't tell them what's really going on. So this chapter is only the start of things going all wrong with him again. I just wanted to start really slowly … I hope you don't mind ;-)
Thanks a million to all of you readers, followers and reviewers out there. I do appreciate your support a whole lot.
Chapter 10
Everyone else was ready and was waiting for the young couple.
"Where is smart dog?" Gustavo barked. "Is he taking a shower or trying to drown himself. What's taking him so long?"
"Well, he's got Camille with him," Carlos responded innocently.
"Please. I don't need to know that," Gustavo said snapping at the poor boy.
"But there soooooooooo in love," Carlos went on.
"Carlos!" The other band members said in unison as they hit their friend.
Right at that moment, Logan and Camille came walking by hand in hand.
"What's going on?" Camille asked getting all curious.
"It's about time you arrived," Gustavo yelled loudly at Logan. "What's gotten in to you? You're always supposed to be on time. They won't hold my reservation forever, you know."
Logan didn't know what to say and instead just looked down at his shoes. He didn't seem to get the negative comment on Twitter out of his mind. He was hurt. So hurt already and Gustavo's reaction only made things worse. He tried to swallow his upcoming tears. Camille looked at him and immediately noticed that something was wrong.
"Are you gonna answer me or not?" Gustavo yelled some more. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"Do you mind?" Camille said angrily. "In case you don't remember, he is still recovering and it's hard for him as it is. There's no need for you to yell and snap at him all the time. He is exhausted. This concert took all of his mental strength. Can't you for once take that into account?"
Logan was still trying to gain control, but had hardly paid attention to what his girlfriend had said.
"Camille is right," Kendall said. "Logan did a great job out there today and it still is emotionally very hard for him. Right, bud?"
He playfully punched Logan's shoulder and he flinched straight away.
Everyone immediately noticed the strange reaction. They all looked at their friend worriedly and noticed his tensed body and his pale color. Camille very gently tried to lift his head by cupping his cheek and even then Logan flinched.
"Baby, it's just me," she said tenderly. She softly rested her hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright?"
Logan looked up at her with glossy eyes. Camille's heart nearly broke. She hated to see her boyfriend like this. He desperately tried to act normal, but it was too late already. He knew that when he looked his girlfriend in the eyes and when he looked at his friends. He had to try and convince them that he was doing fine. Right? What was wrong with him? One negative comment and he was depressed once again. He couldn't let that happen. Not after the huge support everyone gave him. He would look like a total loser and a wimp if he would cry now. He had to somehow stay strong. But maybe they already thought that he was just a weak crybaby that needed to be pampered all the time. Even Gustavo was starting to yell at him again. Logan had zoned out completely. A sudden slap to his cheek brought him back to reality.
"Aw." His hand went up to his sore cheek.
"Logan, answer me when I ask you a question," Camille said. Her voice trembled. "What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing," he answered his voice barely above a whisper.
"Don't say that," she said. Her hand went up to cup his face and he flinched a second time. "Please, Logan. Don't do this. Just let me in. Let us help you." Her voice was trembling even more and tears were running down her cheeks.
"It's … It .. It's just too much," Logan stammered. His dark eyes were filled to the rim with unshed tears he so desperately was trying to stop from falling. "All this tonight .. I-I-It was just s-s-so e-emotional a-a-and I'm s-s-so t-t-tired." A single tear escaped his eyes.
"Oh, baby," Camille said as she pulled him in for a hug.
Logan buried his face in her long curls and his tears were now flowing freely.
"I'm here for you. We all are. We all know it's hard for you, but you did it. The concert was a huge success and that's partly because of you. You may not know it, but you're a strong boy. You didn't give up. We're so proud of you. And it's normal to be exhausted, because it was a very emotional rollercoaster for you tonight. You shouldn't shut us out, Logan. We believe in you. Just let us help you get through this. You need to believe in yourself like we believe in you, baby. And don't be afraid to show your emotions. You're only human. It's okay to cry every now and then. We're all here to comfort and support you."
She felt his body shudder as he was still trying to suppress his tears.
"Let them out, bud," Kendall said. "It will do you good!"
That was all it took for Logan to start crying full out. He couldn't hold back any longer no matter how hard he tried. Kendall gently squeezed his friend's shoulder.
"I know just what you need to make you feel better," Carlos said suddenly. "A group hug."
Nobody needed another word as they all hugged their best friend. A little while later, they all let go. Logan shyly wept away his remaining tears.
"Thanks," he said softly. "I really needed that."
Gustavo had watched everything from a distance and he too had grown very worried about Logan's well-being. He walked up to the boy. Logan held his breath afraid that his boss would start yelling at him all over again for being such a crybaby.
"Look, Logan. I'm sorry," he started. "You know I love to yell at people, but that doesn't mean I don't care. Because I do! I care a lot about you. I know performing is still hard for you emotionally, but I just want you to know that you're a very good performer. You have learned so much already! I must say that I love to work with you and that I'm proud of what you've established. You are a really strong boy, Logan Mitchell, even though you may not believe that yourself. But like your girlfriend and your friends say: you need to open up to us if things go wrong. We're all here for you! Each and every one of us. Do you understand me?"
Logan nodded his head and a small smile appeared on his tensed features. He softly padded Logan on the shoulders.
"Are you up to this dinner? I've asked for a small room away from the crowd, so you wouldn't be bothered by fans. What do you think?" Gustavo asked him.
"Yes, that's fine," Logan managed to say. "And thanks for everything."
He slowly started to relax again thanks to all the support he got. He was even able to smile again.
"I love to see you smile," Camille whispered in his ear. "You're so adorable when those cute dimples of yours appear."
Logan blushed. Camille pulled him closer and tenderly kissed him.
"I love you so much, Cami," he said softly.
"I love you too, Logie Bear," she whispered back.
They all went out to dinner and had a wonderful time. Logan decided not to think about the bad Twitter message too much. Maybe it was just a onetime thing. Kendall had told him there would always be haters and that he should just try to ignore them. But that was easily said than done! He wasn't the strong, fearless leader Kendall was or the handsomest man alive like James nor was he the biggest daredevil like Carlos. He was just plain, smart, shy and insecure little Logan. The one who had always needed his friends to keep him safe. He was indeed the weakest link, he thought to himself. Lucky for him, the guys put up with that. But for how much longer? They were all getting older? Wasn't it about time he took care of himself?
They were all laughing with random jokes and wild stories and Camille was laughing just as hard. Logan looked at his girlfriend sitting right next to him. Gosh, she was just so beautiful. He could stare at her beauty forever. No doubt she was successful as an actress. She was so good! He was lucky to have her. She could do so much better! He was always worried who her co-player would be and even tended to get just a tiny bit jealous, but she would always comfort him and tell him that she didn't want to be with anyone else. She also took care of him like his mom or Mrs. Knight would do and he absolutely loved it. But maybe she wanted a man that would take care of her for a change.
Camille looked at him and winked playfully. Logan merely smiled at her. She put her hand on his thigh and locked eyes with him.
"Are you okay, baby?" She asked him tenderly.
"I'm fine," he reassured her.
"Are you sure? You've barely touched your dinner?" She asked him.
"I'm not that hungry," he confessed. That's probably because I'm exhausted. That's all!"
"Do you want to head back to the tour bus?" Kendall asked his friend. "I'm sure you can go, right Gustavo?"
"Yeah, sure you can," he replied.
"Don't worry about me. If Cami is staying over, I'll share the bus with Carlos and James," Kendall said.
"Yes, he'd hate to spoil your fun," Carlos teased.
Logan blushed deep red while the rest of them all burst out laughing.
"Um … Yes … I guess I wanna go," he responded shyly.
"Sure, bud. You still do look a little pale and tired," James said. "Some rest will probably do you good."
Logan and Camille said their goodbyes to the group and headed back to the tour bus. The couple held hands as they walked enjoying the fresh evening air. They walked in complete silence. Logan so badly wanted to ask his girlfriend to stay with him during the rest of the tour, but he knew he couldn't ask that of her. She had her own career and she couldn't jeopardize that for him. He wondered whether he should come clean to her about the hurtful Twitter message, but he also didn't want to upset her. They had finally arrived at the bus and Logan opened the door for her as a true gentleman.
"Are you sure you're okay, baby?" Camille asked him looking intently into his eyes.
"I'm fine," he said. "Don't worry! I just want to get to bed and get some rest."
"Sure," she said. "I'll take the bunk on the other side and let you …"
"No!" Logan hated the fact that his voice sounded desperate. "Please, stay with me tonight. I just want to be close to you and hold you and cuddle with you. I really need that right now."
"I'd love that," she answered him.
She disappeared into the bathroom and got ready for the night. Afterwards, Logan did the exact same thing. They both climbed into the bunk bed and cuddled close into each other's arms. Logan closed his eyes and buried his face into her curls.
"Do you like me to stay a little bit longer?" Camille whispered in his ear.
Logan looked up at her all surprised.
"I had a hunch you would need me for a while on tour," she said smiling tenderly. "I still have a few days off and I would love to spend them with you."
"Would you do that for me?" Logan asked.
"I sure would," she answered.
"So please do," he said his eyes darkening all of a sudden.
He pulled her closer in his arms and kissed her passionately. Camille kissed him back just as eagerly. Logan's arms snaked around her waist and he softly rubbed her back. His fingers played with the hem of her tank top.
"I thought you were exhausted," Camille said laughing in his ear.
"Oh yes, but this will help me to sleep better," he whispered seductively in her ear before attacking her lips fiercely once again.
