Oh gosh, so many people wanted me to continue this, and well.
Fuck here it is. Sorry it's a little short...
Geez you guys, I didn't even do that good of a job on the last chapter, why do you like it so much.
...
Nothing is more embarrassing than getting caught, two centimeters away from kissing the boy you're in love with. By Kankri.
"And besides that, do you even realize what Slick is going to think when he finds out about this? You know he's homophobic, how stupid could you be? Bringing another boy here like this. Karkat really, I thought you were smarter than this. Not to mention what will happen when he finds out about me. Do you understand how much trouble both of us could get into right now? I mean honestly, at least think a little before you jump head first into things like this." Kankri continued, having started almost a full half hour ago.
"Kan. We get it, please shut the fuck up." Karkat groaned.
"That's another thing. You need to watch your language. I know Slick doesn't care much for that either, so you need to be mindful of what you say. Once he finds out about you recent...activities...he won't be so understanding about you saying those foul words, either. And besides-"
"Kankri. Shut UP."
With his older brother momentarily shocked into silence, Karkat took his chance to take his leave. He shoved a confused Dave out the door and tugged him along the sidewalk.
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere that isn't here." Karkat grumbled as a reply.
Dave smiled, happy to just be with the shorter boy. Because who was he kidding? He loved this shouty Latino, more than he could ever understand.
So he allowed the shorter teen to drag him along, and only sometimes let his eyes wander too far.
The temperature was starting to rise as the days were passing by, and Dave found himself more and more content to stay indoors. Days like today, though, he didn't mind being out in the almost-summer-heat.
And it had nothing to do with the fact that he was practically holding hands with his long-time crush. Nothing at all.
Shut up, I said it had nothing to do with it.
...
Parks are good for a lot of things. Picnicking with friends, playing on the various things, messing around on the swings, climbing trees, making out in trees, picnicking with family drawing pictures on the sidewalk in chalk...
Wait.
Back up a little there.
What was that about trees?
No not the climbing part, the other one.
Right.
Safety first, kids.
Don't make out in trees, it is NOT safe.
Something neither Karkat nor Dave had to learn the hard way. Because that was not what they were doing.
The pair was currently drawing on the sidewalk. Having borrowed chalk from a small girl that asked if they wanted to draw with her.
Not being able to decline, Dave took the red chalk handed to him and began drawing. Karkat, only because Dave told him to, took the blue chalk and sat himself down next to Dave.
There needs mention that Karkat is left handed, and Dave is right handed. So when Karkat sat down on Dave's left, it made possible for Dave to 'accidentally' intertwine their fingers.
Dave decided that red looks quite nice on Karkat.
Very nice.
"What are you looking at, asshole?" Karkat growled, surprised to find that he could tell Dave was looking at him.
Stupid shades. Karkat really liked looking at those eyes.
"Now Karkat, what did Kankri say about your foul language? There are children around." Dave chided, smiling and going back to drawing.
"Oh shut up." Karkat laughed.
Dave found he quite liked Karkat's laugh.
...
The sun was starting to go down, most of the children had left, and Karkat took Dave's hand into his own.
Leading him over to a bench that had a clear view of the sunset, Karkat sat down and brought Dave sitting next to him.
"So this counts as a first date, right?" Dave asked, only half joking.
Karkat sat silent for a few moments, his face cherry colored.
"Hey I was jus-"
"Yeah, if...if you want it to..."
Karkat turned to look at Dave, unlacing their fingers so he could reach up and remove those stupid glasses.
As the suns last rays of light winked out of existence for the day, Karkat leaned over and brought their lips together in a sweet kiss.
Overjoyed to finally be kissing his stupid shorty, Dave wrapped his arms around Karkat's waist and lifted him into his lap.
Giving out a squeak in surprise, Karkat glared at Dave as he pulled back. His glare faltered at the sight before him.
Dave's eyes shone in the near-darkness, having only a nearby street lamp for light. But the smile on his face was noticeable, and Karkat pressed forward again to kiss those lips he had dreamed about for so long.
...
Star gazing was one of Karkat's favorite things to do. He loved to lay down on the roof of his house and look up at the blinking little dots that scattered across the sky.
So there he lay, side by side with Dave, pointing out different constellations and telling Dave about the first time he did this.
"I was around eight at the time, and Kankri flipped his shit when he found me. I had snuck out of my window and came up here, and when I leaned back to lay down, I saw so many fucking stars. It was beautiful. After that, I just made it a habit to come up here just whenever." Karkat explained. He looked over to find Dave staring at him again. "What?!"
"I love your voice..." Dave whispered.
Karkat flushed, and he looked back to the stars, half hoping one of them would tell him what to do.
Dave, realizing what he just said, cursed under his breath and ran a hand over his face.
"Shit, sorry. Didn't mean to say that out loud."
"I love your eyes." voice barely above a whisper, Karkat looked to the side, away from Dave.
"Uh...what?" Dave asked as he sat up.
Karkat looked over to him and shook his head, sitting up as well.
"I said I love your eyes." he repeated, slipping the sunglasses off Dave's face. Only slightly pissed off that Dave had somehow managed to put them back on after Karkat already removed them.
Resting his arms on Dave's shoulder's Karkat leaned down to press his face into Dave's chest in an almost hug.
"I love you." Dave mumbled into Karkat's hair, wrapping his arms around the shorter teen and pulling him into his lap again.
Removing his face from Dave's chest, Karkat looked up at him with wide eyes.
"Fuck. I just can't stop talking." Dave released his hold on Karkat and looked away.
When Karkat didn't move from his seat in the taller's lap, Dave chanced a look back.
Karkat's eyes started watering, and Dave froze in confusion.
"I love you too, fuckwiff." Karkat responded finally, throwing his arms around Dave's shoulders and crushing their lips together.
Smiling again, Dave silently thanked John for giving that stupid note to Karkat. Unaware that Karkat was doing the same, thanking that stupid bright red ink that he knew all too well as Dave's favorite pen.
...
THAT'S IT. NO MORE.
Eh, I tried.
Sorry it's short.
.
.
.
hah, like Karkat.
Short.
