Epilogue: The Larger Frame of the Story; or, Hot Summer Night
Disclaimer: I do not own El Cazador de la Bruja; Bee-Train does. I do, however, make up original characters, yet I still derive no monetary gain from them.
Also, I do not own the music of Meat Loaf or Jim Steinman. They are the appropriate masters of their work.
After arriving back to the town where they started form in Mexico, both Ellis and Nadie were questioned as to what went on during the whole several days. After about three hours of this (and a box of tissues), the girls were led back to their own vehicle, already packed with the belongings they took with them into the Hotel de la Luna.
"It was a pain in the ass, but I was able to get my refund on one of the nights I booked, seeing how the three of you got abducted on the first night." Ricardo later commented.
"Un!"
Lirio was not all too eager to see Nadie and Ellis go, and held onto Ellis' skirt.
"I'm sorry, Lirio, but Nadie and I have to go now. I'm sure we'll meet up again."
Lirio reached into the bag she was carrying and produced her animal picture book. She turned to the page with the Hornbill, and showed it to the girls.
"Hey, Nadie. Doesn't this bird look familiar?"
"Yeah. It was the same damn type of bird that Gyrfalcon owned."
"Really? Let me take a look at that again, Lirio."
Ricardo took the book and looked at it, and then to the back, where he found some photography credits.
"Gazth-Sonikan Grey Hornbill… Gazth-Sonika… hey, didn't you mention, Ellis, that Gyrfalcon was a part of Enfant?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, Gazth-Sonika is where they were based. Fractured after the death of their leader."
"Friday Monday?" queried Nadie.
"Yes, I think that's him. Something's telling me that the Hornbill is significant."
"Significant? How?"
"Just call it a gut feeling. I'll bring it up to Jodie before she leaves back for her office. Speaking of leaving, it's time to go, Lirio."
"Aww… good-bye!"
"Hey, she actually said a word!"
"Good work, Lirio. Now let's go get you that sundae I promised."
"Waaa… sundae, sundae!"
Ricardo laughed the laugh of a proud parent, and with Lirio in hand and his bag in another, he went off, presumably to that restaurant form the night before all hell broke lose.
"Well, let's go, Ellis."
"Nadie."
"Yeah?"
"…can we get a sundae, too?"
Meanwhile, back at the Witch Compound, Dido was pitching a fit.
"What do you mean, he never reported back?"
A red-headed demon was going over the results from the night before.
"Well… yeah. He just kinda disappeared."
"Do you understand how dangerous this is to our plans? He could kill Nadie at any point in time! Then half of all our effort would have gone to waste!"
A little bit earlier than that, the cloaked figure and L.A. made their way through the southern French countryside, L.A. being led to a place the figure referred to as "The Land that Time never touched".
"So what you are telling me is that your Lady may be able to grant my wish, with no catches? Just granting me the wish? No period of servitude or anything? No enslavement… I see."
They reached the top of a hill, and saw before them a vast plain, at its heart an old cathedral with a large vineyard.
"Well… this sure looks like that it promises to be interesting."
After traveling some distance, Nadie and Ellis arrived in a quaint seaside village, where they then planned to stay the night by camping on the beach.
Ellis got out and walked to the edge of the water.
"The ocean is pretty."
"It sure is, Ellis." Said Nadie as she joined her.
"It's pretty… because it reminds me of Nadie's eyes."
"Ah… heh?"
Ellis simply turned to look at Nadie and gave a small smirk, to which Nadie could only smile in return.
Kokopelli stood atop his hill in the sea of grain. He heard footsteps behind him, but did not turn around: he knew who it was.
"So my little plan turned out quite good, didn't it?"
"If 'Costing 100 lives for a result that could have been provided in a better way', then yeah."
"Psssh… you and your easily-bruised moral-center."
"At least I have one."
Just then, the both of them stood still as they heard another pair of footsteps approaching.
"Greetings, great spirits! It is an honor to meet you at last!"
It was none other than Juan Luis.
"Wait… how did… even I have trouble getting here… huh?"
"Well, it's a long story, let me tell you that, but I essentially am using the magical artifacts of the ancestors to project my image into whatever dimension I please."
"Okay… and you're here, why?"
"Well, just to provide a warning, perhaps."
"A warning?"
"Yes. Things are about to get very… interesting. Especially in Europe."
"Hm? And why is that?" asked Kokopelli.
"Several years ago, a woman who sought to purify the world of sin died there, but a part of her was left behind, ion the very land itself. She's getting ready to do something spectacular!"
"And what would that be?"
"Well… if I told you, they'd probably kill me."
"Who?"
"Oh, various groups… but that's all for now. Until next time, gentlemen."
Becoyo turned to stare at Kokopelli.
"I feel… that our 'game' is also about to get complicated. Well, it was fun while it lasted."
At the ruins of Grey Rock, an unusual soldier was sifting through the debris. She wore camo pants, but the top part of her outfit resembled a maid's uniform, and a black, ragged skirt hung over her camo pants. She was looking through the files. She did this for some hours before coming upon the ones she was looking for, and quickly stuffed them into a folder that she was carrying.
"Soon, I'll be with you, Miss. Soon."
Back at the Witches' Compound, the three witches were preparing yet another trap.
"This time, we are sure to succeed! Now that Gyrfalcon is out of the way, we must simply just implement our plans, and then victory will be ours!"
"So what is it this time?" asked Maria.
"Simple, yet brilliant! I have rigged a toy speedboat with several explosive missiles, which when launched will result in the deaths of our targets once and for all!"
Kennedy just stood there, not even bothering to snark (outwardly, at least).
"Dear Sister, would you have the honor of pressing the firing mechanism activation button?" she asked as she proffered it to Kennedy.
"Um… sure."
Just then, several of the demons came in, wheeling a large, radio-like robot with them.
"Great Sisters, we have created a new device: the JukeBot 2000! It has a very simple function, and that is this: when it sees a situation or particular circumstance, it'll access its vast musical library and play a fitting piece of music!"
"Hmm… sounds great! Brilliant! Set it up; I was hoping for some music with these fireworks."
Meanwhile, our girls just sat in their car, looking out at the sea form the beach. The moon was barely half-full, thus resulting in very dim lighting.
"Nadie?"
"Hm?"
Ellis leaned into Nadie, resting her head on her shoulder.
"I've been thinking… what were you going to say a few nights ago in the church?"
"Huh?"
"Even though I have a pretty good guess, I would just like to hear it fully come out."
She turned so that she was facing Nadie in the face.
"Well, um…"
"Here, I'll even try replicating our conversation" she grabbed a hold of both of Nadie's hands and held them close.
"Nadie, why do you stay with me? What am I to you?
"Well, uh…"
At that moment, Dido began her countdown.
"This is beyond stupid…" muttered Maria to herself.
"Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, fire, Kennedy!"
The rockets exploded, and made ready to seem like that they were to explode in your face, when the rockets raised elevation, and then exploded like fireworks.
On the beach, the girls saw this and momentarily distracted them.
Well… you can't say nothing, forever…
"Ellis."
"Hm?"
"Ellis… what I've been meaning to say… is that you're my best friend, but more… Ellis… Ellis…"
"Nadie."
Just then, back at the compound, the JukeBot 2000 began playing a track: Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman's You took the Words right out of my Mouth (Hot Summer Nights)
And you took the words right out of my mouth, oh it must have been while you were kissing me! You took the words right out of my mouth, and I swear it's true, I was just about to say I Love You!
"Ellis, I lov-"
Nadie didn't finish, as Ellis' mouth closed over her own. They stayed like that for a moment before parting.
"So that's what it feels like…" said Ellis.
Both girls were now blushing violently, with goofy looks on their faces.
"Alright… I'll let you finish it."
"Yes… Ellis, I love you."
"Nadie…"
Ellis proceeded to fling herself in a giant embrace onto Nadie, and the two girls spilled out of the car and onto the sand.
Meanwhile, back at the compound, wild cheering broke out among many of the demons present.
"Wha… what… what is this? What the hell are you doing?" spoke Dido.
"I believe it is the NadiexEllis fanclub, Dido. I think they've been waiting for this." Answered Kennedy.
"Blegh! Yuck! This is sickening! I'm going to bed! Goodnight, losers! And to think, I stayed up for this crap…" spoke Maria as she made her way to her room.
"Cheer up, Dido. There's always next time."
"Yeah… next time."
And so the demons, the two witches, and the robot bore witness to the at-last blossoming love of Nadie and Ellis.
And that, for now, is the end of that. Thanks for reading! As before, leave reviews! As mentioned waaaaay back, I intend to make a sequel to this. This story came out more awkwardly than I planned mostly because most of the stuff I pre-planned involved things that had to be set up first.
So, expect a (hopefully) better sequel in the future, and yet again, thanks for reading!
