Chapter 15: Tris

Christina screams when I tell her the news and immediately starts packing a bag for the night, she throws all of her make up in there to "help me out" tomorrow. When we finally get to the platform Cara is waiting for us and greets us with a hug and excitement, I notice she also has a bag with her.

Shauna and Zeke's apartment is larger because it's meant for a family but tonight the four of us are drinking and celebrating and acting like girls as Christina says.

"So what do you think you'll do once you're married?"

I shrug. "I hadn't really thought about it, I guess just go on training the next class of recruits."

"Are you going to do that when you decide to have kids too?"

"I don't really do any of the physical activity anyway, I can still shoot a gun when I'm pregnant and I can get Tobias to show them how to fight."

They continue asking questions and eventually we decide to plan Candor or Dauntless, the first dare ends with me getting yet another tattoo.

This time it's a vine of flowers down my spine and it hurts a lot. Christina sits and holds my hand while Bud works, Cara and Shauna look at the other drawings while he does it until Cara decides she wants a tour of the place.

"You're doing great Tris, we're almost done." I've never asked Bud to do a huge tattoo on me before, none of mine are large to begin with so I never knew really how much they hurt.

"It's gonna look great though." I want to laugh at Christina's optimism but when I do Bud hits something and instead I grunt in pain.

"Just a few more minutes," The needle is at the bottom of my spine now and I believe him but want the pain to be over. "And done."

The bandages cover the length of my spine and Christina helps me put my shirt back on. "Seriously, it's gonna look so great." She says even though I'm wincing.

"It better or Cara owes me a dare." We say good bye to Bud and head out to find the others, but we don't have to go too far because they're sitting in the Pit drinking. "All done."

Christina wipes the residual tears off my face when we sit and tells them that Bud did a great job.

"Do you know what you're going to wear tomorrow?"

Taking a drink I shrug. "I don't really have any dresses." Christina rolls her eyes but laughs. "I guess I could buy one."

"Let's go!"

We go to the store where they help pick some out and Christina helps me try them on.

"This one will show off your back tattoos more."

"Here's a few with longer sleeves."

"Try this one on!"

In the end I go with a dress that falls to just above my knees and the arms, shoulders, and part of the chest are all lace and the bottom flares out a bit. It's a beautiful dress and under any other circumstance I probably wouldn't have gotten it for myself, but I want to get married in it.

"I can hear Zeke, changes back and we'll hide it."

The boys are drunk and loud, they run over to us so Tobias and Zeke can place sloppy kisses on me and Shauna. Caleb follows close behind them and hugs me tightly hitting my back inadvertently.

"Watch Caleb, you're hurting her!" Christina calls pulling his arms off of me.

I thank her and turn towards Tobias. "We were playing Candor or Dauntless and I got a tattoo."

"Where at? What is it? Can I see?"

"Whoa there tiger, save it for the wedding night." Caleb's cheeks turn a darker shade of pink. "It's bad luck to see each other before the ceremony, we'll get her to you safely tomorrow morning."

He kisses me soundly again. "I love you."

"I love you too." We're steered apart by our friends and go about out nights.

The next morning I'm woken early by Cara who along with Christina brought breakfast, we eat and take quick showers before the girls start helping me get ready. Shauna helps style my hair while Christina does my make up, she rims my eyes with black pencil and mascara while also powdering my face. The salve Bud gave me for the tattoo is lathered on and we let it dry before bandaging and dressing.

While I slip on my black flats the others are putting on their own dresses before we leave. When we walk through the Pit there's barely anyone there but the few who are yell out their congratulations and whistle to us.

The train stops and we get on, the sun is shining and the air is slowly getting warmer. When we get off and head towards the old pier Cara runs ahead, when she runs back the girls stand in a line and push me to the back.

Cara goes first, followed by Shauna, and then Christina. Suddenly Caleb pops around the corner and holds out his arm to me. "May I?"

I can feel the heat behind my eyes but know that Christina would be angry if I ruined the make up she applied. Caleb steers me around the corner and I'm shocked to see most of Dauntless standing there in a crowd, when they see me they all start cheering loudly and when we move towards them each reaches out to congratulate me. The group parts to let us through and when the last few part I finally see Tobias standing with Amar at the ferris wheel. He's dressed in his usual black pants and boots but the shirt is one that I've never seen before, it's long sleeved but he has them pushed up to his elbows and at the base of his neck I see the edges of his tattoo peeking out.

"You look beautiful." He whispers when I reach him and he takes my hands in his.

I look out and see our friends and Evelyn standing in the front of the crowd, Christina and Shauna are already teary seeing us up here and just looking at them makes me want to cry.

Amar starts quoting the Dauntless manifesto and talking about each of us individually and how as a couple we are perfect. He recounts meeting me for the first time, how I was strong and stubborn and instantly he knew that Tobias and I would be together for a long while.

He goes on and invites our friends up on the pier to speak about our relationship.

Cara goes first and tells everyone how she only knew us because of her brother, how she grew to trust us and now counts us as some of her dearest friends.

Caleb acts exactly as we assumed he would and when I roll my eyes a few people laugh. It's nice to hear how he wants to protect his little sister and how he's glad she's marrying someone who loves her so deeply, but sickening with how he makes it seem as if he had a say in the marriage.

Shauna talks about how she met Tobias in initiation and they became fast friends, when we started dating she knew that we would be friends too, and how glad she is that we get to see each other every day.

Zeke tells jokes for a little while and even an embarrassing story about Tobias, but gets serious. "Tris, Uriah loved you like a sister and I know that he is angry for missing this day." The tears that I had held back are rolling freely down my cheeks now and there's no way to stop them. "But I want you to know that I love you like a sister too and I will always be here for you no matter what, I know that you see Uriah in me and I hope you hold on to that because he would want you to smile and laugh."

Christina is next and immediately runs up and wipes my face. "Coming from Abnegation Tris was a little wound up, so I helped her during initiation. I guarded the showers while she changed, held up towels so the others couldn't see her, taught her everything there was to know about the outside world. We are best friends and I am more than happy to be here with both of you today."

George goes last and though he doesn't have much to say it's still from the heart.

In the end, Amar yells for everyone to be quiet as he announces that we are married and everyone starts cheering and clapping so loudly I can barely hear myself think.

We kiss through all of the noise and when we pull apart I can only smile.

Everything that I thought I had lost is right there with me, my friends, my faction, and Tobias.

There is nothing else in the world that matters to me right then except for my husband.

A/N: Woo hoo! Finally married!
