Last time on Power Rangers: Dino Squad
"You rangers think you've won? Well you haven't seen anything yet! I don't care if I die for my father, I just want you people dead! The Deboss army can survive and will take over this earth once you eight are dead!"
The rangers saw him light a match, and then they saw what he was aiming for. A gasoline tank in the middle of the shack and the rangers. "No!" Matt screamed, but Will run forward as fast as he could, and threw the whole box of matches on the tank, and it exploded.
Seven of the eight rangers morphed at the moment, to protect themselves, but Spencer was already morphed, but the force of the explosion demorphed him as it threw them all back. After it was over, Spencer opened blurry eyes to see the shack was on fire, and he was burned. None of the rangers were. Their suits were, though. He tried shakily to get to his feet. To help his brother and Nathan, but he lost that battle and fell back down.
He was in and out of consciousness for a while and saw various things. The others rangers were okay, Mason talking to Kyro about something important, Aria showing up, and the infirmary. But he soon lost his fight with consciousness and fell in unconsciousness.
~PRDS~
Later, Mason sat in a ship as he cruised through space, trying to get to Urau in time for his homecoming. He had Kristi asleep beside him and had Aria as his replacement. He felt good.
His mother had lied to him. Told him that he was normal, but he wasn't. He was Kyro's son, and he wasn't human. He was an alien and he was immortal. It was safe for him on Urau.
He had taken Kristi with him. It was difficult to explain to her, but she loved him, and decided to be with him instead of not.
He smiled to himself as he looked out at the vast expanse of space. "I think I'm gonna be okay, and I think the rangers are too. At least, I hope they are." He whispered under his breath.
Now
Spencer awoke slowly, coming to with a low moan. His eyelids were stuck together like glue, and his mouth felt very dry. He didn't feel like he could move at all.
But then he remembered, and forced his eyes open one at a time. He immediately shut his eyes and covered his face with his arm when a harsh light assaulted him, but soon opened his eyes once again and adjusted. He was in the infirmary.
The first thing he thought of was the fire and if everyone else was okay, when he was suddenly tackled by a mop of blonde hair. "Spencer! You're awake! Thank God!"
Alice lifted off of him and gasped. "Sorry, are you alright? I didn't mean to do that too hard."
Spencer cleared his throat a bit. "Alice?" He rasped. "Are the other rangers alright?"
"Oh, Spencer! Always worried about us!" Alice smiled. "Everyone else is okay. We've been waiting for you to wake up! It's been like three days!"
"Really?" Spencer rubbed at his eyes and sat up in bed slowly, looking around. His eyes landed on a curtain next to him and he stared at it for a second before turning back to Alice. She had a sad expression on her face. "Everyone is okay?" He asked, more emphasis this time.
"Spencer, you don't need to see that right now. You just woke up. Maybe you should come to the kitchen to eat something. Everyone wants to see you." She grabbed his hand and squeezed it, a look of desperation in her eyes. "Come on." Spencer, however, shook his head and pulled away from her.
He swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up. He was a bit shaky from not standing for a while, but soon regain his bearings and slowly walked over to the curtain. He heard nothing from the other side. He was about to open the curtain when Alice grabbed his wrist and shook her head.
"Spencer, please don't. For me. It's not something that will make you feel any better. Especially not after what happened." Alice pleaded, her eyes full of begging as she looked into her boyfriend's eyes.
Spencer wrapped his arms around her and held her close as she wept silently into his chest. "I was so scared." She whispered and he kissed her on the top of her head and the pulled away, but had his hands remaining on her shoulders, looking her in the eye.
"I'm sorry, Alice, but I have to know. Is Reese behind there?" He asked, gesturing with his head to the curtain. Her eyes watered and she nodded. "And Nathan too?"
Alice's breath caught in her throat and she launched herself back at Spencer, sobbing loudly. "What happened?" He asked gently.
She took a few deep breaths and pulled away wiping her eyes though she continued to cry. "He's gone, Spence."
"What do you mean, 'gone?'" Spencer asked, his heart racing.
"We pulled him out of the fire and when we brought him back here, the damage to his body was so extensive he died.. in Scott's arms." She added quietly.
Spencer felt his chest tighten. "Is Scott okay?"
Alice looked down. "He might want to talk to you; it might make him feel better." She didn't answer the question, and Spencer didn't push her.
"Is Reese...?" He couldn't bring himself to say it. If it was true, Spencer didn't even know what he would do.
"He's alive." Alice said with a small, sad smile. "But he's pretty beat up. Nathan turned back to normal before the explosion and pushed an unconscious Reese out of the way, but he fell in the water. He almost didn't make it. But he's still not awake."
Spencer's mind shut down for a moment before he regained his bearings. "I need to see him." He said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Please." His voice cracked.
Alice nodded and was about to pull back the curtain for him, but Spencer shook his head. "Alone."
Alice put a hand on his shoulder and nodded in understanding. "Alright. I'll be right outside if you need me." He nodded quickly as she walked out and closed the door quietly behind her. He then pulled back the curtain.
Kyro was standing over Reese, feeling his forehead. Spencer felt like he couldn't breathe. That wasn't good.
Kyro sensed someone behind him and turned around, a smile lighting up on his face at first glance of the blue ranger up and around, but then frowned, realizing who he was staring at.
"Spencer, are you okay?" Kyro asked, not wanting to bring up his brother just yet.
Spencer looked at him as if seeing him for the first time and shook his head. "No." Tears were streaming down his face. His brother had scrapes and bruises on his face, bandages wrapped around his head, and an oxygen tube running through his nose. He was pale and wrapped in blankets, though sweating and shivering slightly at the same time. He was also wheezing.
Spencer looked back at Kyro. "Is he gonna...?"
Kyro shook his head and put his hands on the boy's shoulders. "No. He will be okay. He has shown signs of awakening soon, but he is very injured and very ill."
"Ill? What are talking about?" As if to emphasis the point, Reese coughed harshly, attracting both of their attentions, however, the silver ranger did not stir. Spencer immediately moved closer to his brother and sat beside the bed, grabbing his brother's hand, which had an IV tube in.
"The water he fell in was extremely cold, and as a result, has developed pneumonia." Kyro told him sadly. He looked around a bit awkwardly. "I supposed Alice told you about Nathan."
Spencer nodded, massaging his brother's hands. The muscles felt tense and strained. "How is Scott doing?"
"Not well." Kyro sighed. "But he will be happy to see that you've awoken." There was another awkward moment of silence before Kyro spoke up again. "Mason left."
Spencer finally looked up at him. "What? Why?"
"It's a long story." Kyro said. "I'll tell you another day, but Mason is not of this Earth. He is my son, and he is needed on Urau now. Thankfully, we have a new ranger: Aria."
"Aria? Reese's girlfriend?" Spencer asked, glancing from his brother to Kyro.
Kyro nodded. "She's not very happy about what happened."
"I wouldn't think so." He turned back to his brother and reached out a shaky hand to touch his cheek lightly. He was burning up. "When do you think Reese will wake up?"
"Honestly," Kyro said. "I'm not sure."
Spencer glared at him. "Well, make a guess!" He demanded, louder than needed, and Kyro stepped back a bit.
Kyro sighed. "Maybe today or tomorrow. Like I said, I'm not sure."
"Kyro?" A voice said from behind him. It was Aria, with her long brown hair, green eyes, and short stature. Her eyes locked on Spencer and she was overjoyed to at least see one of the Morgan boys up. She immediately rushed forward and hugged Spencer, who let go of his brother and hugged her back.
"You're okay!" She cried. "I'm so glad."
"I'm glad to see you too." He smiled softly. They pulled away and he stood up. "Aria, can you watch Reese for a bit? I need to see the others."
She nodded. "Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
"Thanks." He said, and exited the infirmary with one last glare at Kyro.
~PRDS~
"Chaos!" A loud, booming voice yelled. Dogold, Aigaron, and Candelilla all smirked when they came in, with Chaos and Endolf in lead, and saw who was in the throne.
"Deboss." Chaos said, taken aback by the sudden appearance of his master. Deboss was a average size, green alien with the design of an insect. He had a staff which had all of the emotions on it: sadness, anger, happiness, and resentment. The boss didn't look like more than the average alien, but he could easily defeat a whole army without hardly trying. "You have arrived."
"I had to." Deboss sneering leaning forward in his chair. "Because I had a general in a position he couldn't handle. And now he's going to pay for it."
"But, master, please..."
"Take him away!" Zorima surrounded the head general, dragging him out screaming for a second chance.
"Oooh! Master, are you going to destroy him?" Candelilla smiled with glee, but Deboss glared at her.
"I should destroy you for even asking that question!" Deboss yelled, and Candelilla took a step back in horror. "Chaos will be locked away until I feel he is fit to actually do something against the rangers! Now, where is my son?"
"Sir, you know...?" Aigaron started to ask.
"I am aware of what he is and what has happened? Is he alive?" Deboss asked, staring at the general of sadness.
"Technically, yes. But barely. He has sustained severe burns all over his body. He may never be able to fight again."
"What?" Deboss exclaimed, even louder than before.
"I do have an idea for Will and Chaos, if you'll hear me out. In the meantime, sir, I would like to send a monster down." An alien came up next to him, and Deboss seemed slightly intrigued. "Akidamonne will send those damned rangers to another dimension, the Autumn Zone, if you will, which will make them depressed and slowly destroy them."
Deboss smiled sadistically. "Excellent. Now, tell me about your plan."

After eating, and sitting with all but one of the other rangers, Spencer knew it was time to talk to Scott. He opened the door to Scott's room quietly and saw him sitting in the corner of his room, tears streaming down his face, and holding a teddy bear Nathan had gotten him. He had declared it silly at the time, but now it seemed to be his lifeline.
"Scott?" Spencer asked quietly as he sat down on the floor in front of him.
Scott looked at him and didn't seem to process that he was there for a moment. "Hi Spencer." He whispered.
Spencer moved next to his friend and put an arm around him. "How're you holding up?"
Scott squeezed his eyes shut and turned his head into Spencer's shoulder. "I miss him so much." He sobbed.
Spencer rubbed his shoulder and nodded. "I know. It may not be the same, but I know how you feel right about now."
"How is Reese?" Scott asked, hoping for some good news.
"He's uhh... Well, not good. But, I have hope for him, and I have hope for you too. Come on, you can pull through this, Scott. I mean, we're the freaking power rangers, miracles can happen. Maybe you'll see Nathan again one day, and if not, well then you'll probably have another boyfriend who will be just as great."
"How can you be sure?" Scott asked.
"I can't." He replied, shaking his head. "But I can hope."
"You know, Spencer, you've come a long way since a few years ago." Scott commented, and Spencer nodded. "Definitely."
Then, the alarm rang out, and Scott and Spencer exchanged looks. Spencer stood up. "You don't have to come if you're not ready." He said.
Scott wiped the tears from his eyes. "Yeah I do." He put the teddy bear down gently on his bed and the two ran out of AD and to the battle scene. They fell into position beside the others.
"You guys don't have to do this if you're not ready." Robin told them, mirroring Spencer's earlier statement.
"We're good." Spencer assured them.
Matt nodded to him and turned towards the monster. "Ready?"
"Ready."
"Dino Squad, Power Up!
"Power of the Tyrannosaurus!"
"Power of the Parasaurolophus!"
"Power of the Stegosaurus!"
"Power of the Velociraptor!"
"Power of the Triceratops!"
"Power of the Pterodactyl!"
"Power of the Ankylosaurus!"
"Power of the Plesiosaurus!"
"Power Rangers: Dino Squad!"
Seven of the eight rangers took out their blasters and ran them down the length of their right arm, making armor appear. Spencer followed in suit. He immediately felt a surge of power and was glad Kyro came up with a more powerful mode for their powers to be in.
"Zorima!" Akidamonne called, and Zorima appeared, rushing at the rangers.
With a cry, the rangers ran forward. Matt, Jesse, Robin, James, Aria, and Alice took on the Zorima, but since Spencer and Scott were extremely upset with the Deboss army, they ran through the Zorima and made a beeline for the monster. However, before they could get there, they were blasted by a ray from the top of Akidamonne's mallet and disappeared.
"Spencer!" Alice cried, shocked by what happened.
"Scott!" Jesse exclaimed. "Where did you send them?"
He ran through the Zorima, destroying all of them in his path and went for the alien, slashing him multiple times before blasting him back. Akidamonne recovered quickly and ran at Jesse, swinging his mallet. He swung upwards and sent Jesse flying into a pile of Zorima, who proceeded to kick the green ranger.
"Jesse!" Robin called, running from her battle to help him.
She pulled one of the Zorima out of the group and swung him back, making him fly into a group of Zorima who ran forward to attack her. She blasted the ones opposite of her, then flipped over Jesse to where they once were and blasted the others into boxes nearby.
Jesse groaned as he finally got a break from the beating and smiled as he saw the pink ranger above him. "Are you alright?" Robin asked, helping her boyfriend to his feet.
He nodded. "Yeah. Thanks." He put a hand on her shoulder.
"Hey!" Matt called, slashing a Zorima and turning to them. "You might wanna stop the love fest and get the monster!" He cried as more Zorima piled in near him and attacked.
Jesse and Robin nodded and ran after the monster, who was running off. Robin and Jesse flipped over a fence and jumped off of a box. He ran a bit ahead of her so she could jump onto his shoulder and up onto a crate, which she helped him onto as well. They ran along the crates, watching the monster below, and when they closed in on him, Jesse jumped down and tackled the monster, while Robin waited from above.
Jesse punched and kicked the monster around violently. "Where are my friends?" He demanded.
The monster chuckled. "You'll never get your friends back. Not even if you destroy me!"
Jesse growled and made a move to kick the monster once more, but Akidamonne had a trick up his sleeve. He threw a chestnut at the green ranger, making him stumble back a bit and pick it up. He laughed.
"You think this will hurt me?" He couldn't stop himself from laughing. It was too ridiculous.
"I do." Akidamonne smirked and hit his mallet on the ground, not only knocking the green ranger off balance, but making the chestnut explode in his hand, throwing him back into another crate and demorphing him. He cried out in pain, staring at his hand which was burnt and bloody.
Robin knew this was her cue. She jumped down, shooting lasers out of her blaster at the monster and kicking him before kicking back off of him and landing gracefully on the ground. With the alien on the ground, she ran back to Jesse, who was on the ground, clutching his hand and crying out in agony through clenched teeth.
"Let me see." Robin told him and he let go of his hand slightly. She cringed. His hand was completely covered in third-degree burns and was bleeding heavily from the side. She didn't wait to ask him and immediately ripped off his sleeve on the opposite arm, wrapping it around his forearm to cut off the bleeding, as she could tell Jesse was going to pass out if he bled too much longer.
She heard Akidamonne get up and felt her blood run cold. She turned around to see him fire the same blast that sent Spencer and Scott away at her. But, the blast never came. To her shock, the gray ranger stood in front of her, with a darker suit than before, and absorbed the blast. He did not disappear.
"What?" Akidamonne cried out in anger. "You were supposed to be teleported to the Autumn Zone!"
"You can't do that to a ghost!" Nathan's voice came through and Robin and Jesse stared in shock.
"Nathan?" Robin asked, looking up at the gray ranger who turned and nodded at her.
"Hey Robin." Nathan said, confirming his identity. He then turned back to Akidamonne, angry. "Give me back my boyfriend, freak."
"And Spencer!" Jesse added weakly. The blood loss was starting to affect him.
"Even if I wanted to, I can't." Akidamonne laughed. "Their trapped, unless, of course they find a way out."
Nathan growled and rushed forward, bringing out his blaster, and blasting him until he got up to him, and then he brought out his sword and stabbed the alien through the middle, twisted the sword and pulled in out, turning around as Akidamonne exploded behind him.
Nathan quickly ran over to Robin and Jesse as the others ran over, seeing Akidamonne grow back. The others were shocked by Nathan's appearance, but needed to focus on the task at hand.
"Robin, get Jesse to safety. I have to save Spencer and Scott."
~PRDS~
Spencer and Scott sat back to back, thinking about all of the failures and horrible times in their lives from failing a test to failing a battle to wanting to die.
"Dr. Parker's dead." Scott spat. "Nathan's dead. My mom's dead. Why can't I take their place?"
"My brother is going to die. You don't think I wish I could take his place." Spencer growled, both of them turning around to face each other angrily.
"You shouldn't." A voice said, and they turned to see Nathan standing there.
"Nathan?" Scott asked, his voice cracking.
"Yeah." Nathan nodded. "It's me." He looked between the two. "Look, you don't know it, but this place is causing you to be depressed and angry until you destroy each other. You need to stop. I know right here it may not seem that there's any hope left, but in the real world, hope is everywhere. The rangers are beating an alien right now and giving hope to everyone who was ever attacked and hurt by one.
I know it's hard being a ranger sometimes, and I know its hard just living life sometimes, but you have to take the good with the bad. Not everything may turn out the way you planned, but it doesn't mean you should give up. It means you should get back up, keep going, and make your way through life as a stronger and better person because of it.
Spencer, do you really think Reese would want you to be unhappy? And he's not gonna die. I would know. I'm a spirit, and I can't sense his coming to this side anytime soon. Shit, he's probably awake right now wondering where you are. And Scott, I sure as hell don't want you to act this way. Especially not if I'm gonna be around.
Now, are you guys gonna get out of here stronger then you were before? Or are you gonna die here and leave behind everyone that loves and cares about you?"
Spencer and Scott looked at each other and nodded; they stood up and smiled at Nathan. "We're gonna leave."
And suddenly, the three were transported away. They landed outside of AD, and they heard ruckus inside, which meant the battle was over and everyone was home.
Scott turned to the side and saw Nathan was still there. He reached out and touched him and let out a sob. "You're actually here?"
Nathan smiled and pulled his boyfriend in. "I am."
"But you died!" Scot exclaimed, pulling away from him. "This is impossible!"
"No, Scott. It's not." Nathan put a hand on his shoulder. "I'm still dead, Scott. My heart doesn't beat, blood doesn't flow through my veins, and I don't need to breathe. I'm a spirit. A tangible one, thank god. The spirit realm needed me to come back. There's no replacement for me. They said I may have to go back when this is all over, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there." He put a hand on Scott's face. "We need to enjoy the time we have now."
Scott nodded and the two leaned in for a soft kiss.
Spencer, however, felt uncomfortable watching them and went inside. The others were very happy to see he got out, but he didn't care in that moment. He went into the infirmary. Only Kyro, Jesse, and Reese were in the room, and Reese was blocked off by a curtain still. Jesse was unconscious and Kyro was stitching and bandaging his hand.
Kyro didn't even look up as Spencer walked in, but he had a small smile on his face. "He's asleep now but he'd love to see you. Just make sure he goes back to sleep soon, he's still very ill and injured and needs his rest."
Spencer couldn't contain a large smile on his face as he quietly slipped past the curtain to see his brother already stirring from sleep. Spencer immediately sat next to his brother's bed and took his hand, just in case Reese was disoriented and didn't even know he was there.
But it seemed that this was not the case. Reese took a while to fully come to, but when he did, he turned to Spencer with weary, slightly glassy eyes and gave him a very small smile.
"Hey Spence." His voice was hoarse and raspy and quiet but in that moment nothing would've made the blue ranger happier. Until Reese coughed harshly. It was a loud, wheezy cough that took the smile right off of both of their faces, and made Spencer realize that he could feel the heat radiating off of his brother's skin just from his hand.
"Hey." Spencer said worriedly. He kept his voice low, not wanting to disturb his brother too much. "How are you feeling?" He asked, bringing a hand up to feel Reese's forehead again.
Reese smiled tiredly. "Are you always this worried?" He asked.
Spencer smiled softly and squeezed his brother's hand. "You almost died." His face then changed into that of a somber one. "I don't want to lose you, bro. That really scares me. Your condition right now scares me. Hell, if you even have a single scratch from a monster it scares me. Promise me that when you get better you'll be more careful."
Reese turned his head back towards his brother. "I promise, Spence." He tried to squeeze Spencer's hand back, but a wave of pain overcame him and he moaned, which then turned into a coughing fit, in which Spencer had to hold him still to keep him from aggravating his injuries.
Afterwards, he was winded and exhausted and in pain, and turned to his brother. "Thanks." Was all he could say, frustrating him.
Spencer nodded and gave him a few sips of water to cool his burning throat. "Get some rest." He put the water bottle back down on the nightstand near Reese's bed and sat back down, once again reaching for Reese's hand. "I'll still be here."
Aww, wasn't that cute? I thought it was. And I hope you don't think I made the brothers too touchy-feely, but if you could imagine being in a war against evil space aliens and your brother got stabbed, then got attacked once again, then got captured and turned evil because it turns out that he was a ranger all along and also having your brother have to know and sit back and watch from the sidelines as he waits for the right time to finally help, then I think you can see why they would be that way.
Next time on Power Rangers Dino Squad: Robin made a mistake when she teleported away from her mother, leading the world to become a bit too close to finding out the rangers' secrets. Meanwhile, Scott is frustrated with certain things that Nathan doesn't do now that he's a spirit. Also, the rangers finally face off against another general.
