This chapter is a little on the cheesy side, but enjoy anyway.
Part III, Chapter three: Mama, I'm a big girl now!
As we arrived to my aunt's house, I said,
"I'm back. Come over here. I want you to meet a new friend that I have since I moved here."
Tracy said,
"I'm Tracy Turnblad. If you haven't seen the Corny Collins show, I am on it."
"Mom,
Dad," I began, "I've decided that I don't want to live in the
huge city or with the boarding school. I want to stay in Baltimore
with new friends."
"You can't. You're only seventeen
years old. Don't tell me anything like that."
Then, to my parents, I had a song for them to see.
"You're going to go Crystal, and for we're your parents and it's a lot of money."
Well, I have something to say," I said.
Stop Crystal!
Stop tellin' me what to do
Don't start singing!
Don't treat me like a child of two
No!
I know that you want what's best
Please!
But mother please, give it a rest!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Mama, I am big girl now
Once upon a time when I was just a kid
You never let me do what the older kids did
So lose that laundry list of what you won't allow
'Cause mama I'm a big girl now
"Oh, Crystal," my mother said.
Once upon a time I used to play with toys
And now I'd rather play around with older boys
So, if I get a hickey, please don't how a cow
'Cause mama I am big girl now
Ma, I gotta tell you without a doubt
I get my best dancin' lessons from you
You're the one who taught me how to "Twist and Shout"
'Cause you should non-stop and you're so twisted too!
Wo-oh-oh-oh-oh
Once I used to fidget
'Cause I just sat home
And now I am just like Gidget and get to Rome
So say, arrvederci, toodle-loo and ciao!
Tracy joined in
'Cause mama I am big girl now
Oh
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Mama, I am big girl now!
Then, I sang solo again
Once upon a time I was a shy young think
Could barely walk and talk so much as dance and sing
But let me hit that stage I wanna take my bow
'Cause mama I am big girl now!
Ma, you always taught me from right from wrong
And now I just gotta give it a try
Mama, I've been in the nest for far too long
So please give a push and mama watch me fly
Watch me fly!
Tracy added,
"Show off!"
Oh oh oh
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Stop! Don't! No! Please!
Mama, I am big girl now!
Tracy and I smiled, but we knew maybe it wouldn't work.
"Crystal, we can't-you see, it's non-refundable. We've paid the tuition. I thought you wanted this. When you came here you were all, 'Why do I got to live in Baltimore?' Now you want to stay here?"
"Yes, and I don't want boarding school anymore."
"Maybe if you find someone who could like goin' to boarding school. Maybe you won't have to."
