Hello! Long time no see :) I have been busy in that way that you're busy but entirely not busy also. That makes sense, I promise. Anyway, I've been icky sicky so I thought I'd finish up this one which I started before Christmas. I am a lazy author :(

So this is one of those ones I was like "Should I write this? What happens next? Wamp" because Jin can be ultra hard to write sometimes because YYH, being a shonen manga, doesn't really go into the "RAWR IS DEMON FOR ILU" or whatever anyway, so if you guys have any head canons or ideas about relaciones do tell.

Ps... I forget who I've thanked for reviews so here's the last, like, 5ish:

THANKS TOOOOOOOO cherrypanda (YOU'RE TOO SWEET STOP), anonymougs (Ryan.. this was you wasn't it...), ANGLABYINOUS (ps thank you ;3 )and CeresMaria (that is a fabbity fab fab idea and I want to do that immediately).

Also also, thank you for being so patient with my lackadaisical updates :O I look forward to writing more and hearing from you :) Please to enjoy 3

It was cold outside, and Amai was particularly aware of this as she was sitting on the roof of her house. Her knees were drawn up tight against her chest, a feat considering the thickness of her winter coat. Her hands were gloved and feet snug in warm boots, and she wore a plaid bomber hat to cover her ears. Amai's nose was red and her cheeks quite pink as she stared angrily above the trees and rooftops in her neighborhood.

Winter was stupid. Indoor soccer was the worst because the turf could tear you up worse than a grass field, it was too cold to walk around and go shopping outside or get ice cream with friends. It was too cold to do anything but run from the bus to school or home and watch the snow from inside.

Today, Amai was doing all the things she hated. She'd been sitting on the rooftop for fifteen minutes, glaring at the slowly setting sun. At this point in the day, she couldn't remember what had upset her and ruined her day. Maybe it was the fact that Keito couldn't hang out because she was spending the Christmas weekend with her boyfriend. Maybe it was the she had a lot of pent up energy and couldn't run around the block without slipping in snow and breaking an arm.

Maybe it was because Jin hadn't been by in more than a week, when he'd promised he'd only be gone for a few days.

Amai watched her smoky breath float above her head and melt into the clouds. That was probably it. She seemed to get angry a lot when she thought about Jin, these days. Her parents thought it was hormones and her siblings thought she was just mopey because she didn't have a boyfriend for Christmas or Christmas plans.

It's not like she would be the only one. Plenty of people didn't even celebrate Christmas in Japan, let alone have special plans for them. She huffed, kicking some snow off the roof. Just a few days from now the New Year would arrive and then she'd be even more depressed, because she loved celebrating with friends and had looked forward to asking Jin about demon New Year celebrations.

It certainly had nothing to do with the tradition of kissing someone on New Years. No, certainly not.

Amai's cheeks became quite warm and her eyebrows knit together in a mix of horror, embarrassment, and anger. That made for two embarrassing reasons for missing Jin. The third reason smacked her in the face with the next gust of wind. Figuratively, that is.

When she thought about Jin, her heart got all warm and she felt gooey and every other hackneyed way of saying that she was in-

She coughed, shaking snowflakes off herself. She was in- now she sneezed and bit her lip, forcing the thoughts from her head. She liked lots of boys and had dated a great amount of boys, and in so many ways her relationship with Jin was no different. But there was something about the way her chest hurt whenever he came close to her, or how she exercised harder when he was away. Amai was utterly bewildered by him, though in truth she knew little about him. That's why it was so strange that she was in-

"Why're ya out in the cold, lass?"

Amai squeaked slightly, sliding a little as she turned to see the cheery demon floating behind her. She frowned at him, situating herself so that she would not fall off the roof.

"I'm thinking of New Year's resolutions," Amai replied hotly.

"Aye?" Jin floated next to her, watching her curiously. "An' what's that about, then?"

Her eyes roved over to him before she turned up her nose and said, "It's when you make a resolution for the New Year, obviously. You set a sort of goal and then you have the whole New Year to try to reach that goal."

Jin seemed to ponder this, sitting quietly by her side. Amai had noticed that he was wearing a different outfit from usual; a dark blue long-sleeved top with matching, rather billowy bottoms to match. It was strange seeing him in such a different color, but she was glad to see he wasn't immune to the cold. Except…

"Why are your feet bare?" Amai couldn't stop the question from escaping her lips. "Aren't your feet cold?"

"Nah," he replied. "Don't like shoes much- make me feet feel heavy an' hard to fly."

"Well I'm not cutting off your toes when you get frost bite."

He laughed, a loud sound that made the snowflakes swirl around them. Amai was smiling too when he quieted down.

"Now," he began, leaning towards her intently. "What's got ye bothered?"

Startled, Amai was silent a moment. Her eyebrows were raised and her mouth was slightly ajar as she stared at him. A dumbfounded 'umm' escaped her lips.

"Does that mean nothin' or everythin'?" he smiled wryly.

Instead of answering, Amai turned her gaze back to the treetops. The sky was a really pretty palette of pinks and yellows. It was unusual that she couldn't think of something snide to say or something brilliant or incisive. Well, now she was pouting again. The door below opened and shut and Amai's younger siblings stumbled into the snow, gamboling around like it wasn't even cold outside. When she breathed, her breath was smoky.

"I just wish…"

She tried to think through her words, but it didn't seem to be working. She faltered and chickened out from what she really wanted to say.

"I just wish I had someone to spend New Years with, I guess."

Jin seemed to consider this.

"Hm. Well, why can't I spend New Years with ye?" he paused. "When is New Years?"

Amai snorted, "Well I think tomorrow is Christmas, so it's coming up."

"Ker-is-moss?" Jin repeated, making Amai laugh out loud. He narrowed his eyes at her in consternation. "Don't ye be laughin' at me, I don' laugh at ye when ye say somethin' silly."

"I never say anything silly."

"Aye, yer right as always."

"Jin I wanna spend the New Years with you but you're never around anymore and I don't know where we are or what we are but I barely care because I know so little about you besides your name and that freaking sucks." Amai took a huge breath and opened her mouth to continue but Jin's wide blue eyes shut her up quickly.

Jin scratched the back of his head. "… Ah suppose we've been a bit busy of late."

Amai let out a snort once more and watched her brother and sister throw snowballs at each other. Soon they were building forts and shouting out war cries at each other. Amai stayed silent, quite a feat considering how many words were smashing against the back of her teeth. Still, she pursed her lips and said nothing.

"…Is it important to ya, to put a name on it?" they were both observing her siblings but Jin had a thoughtful frown on his face.

"I want to say no." Amai whispered. "But I'm only human."

The last part was said rather piteously and she scrunched up her face in embarrassment. Everything was bubbling up and she turned on the roof to look at Jin as she let the words spill out without censor (something she did far too often, in her opinion).

"Listen, I think you're the greatest thing that's, like, ever happened to me. My life is so crazy and weird now, but I wouldn't change a thing if it meant not meeting you. I mean, I love you, you know? And you're this crazy ginger demon who can fly and I'm just a weird human who can occasionally get a nosebleed and make something float but that's not nearly as cool."

Once more she stopped to take a breath but Jin's expression, just as before, stopped her. It wasn't the same, embarrassed stare he'd given earlier. He was looking at her intently, almost with awe as he spoke.

"Ye love me?"

Amai gazed at him like he was crazy. "What?"

"Ye jus' said it. Ye jus' said ye love me!" Jin leaned forward, his eyes searching hers.

Shaking her head, Amai's face turned bright pink as she denied it. "No! No, I didn't say that! I was just talking, I don't even remember what I said!"

Jin was silent as Amai watched him, leaning away from him as he came towards her. He was very much in her personal space when he repeated what he'd heard.

"Ye said ye love me." Amai groaned but didn't say anything. He continued. "Did ye mean it?"

Amai covered her face with her hands. A moment later, Jin had gently pulled them from her face. He was surprised to see her eyes watering. Closing her eyes she nodded once, then quickly nodded her head over and over until her head hurt.

"Even though you're stupid," she sobbed. "And you're never around. And I don't know anything about you. I guess that means I'm stupid too."

Jin leaned back thoughtfully. "Ah don't think Ah'm very interestin'."

Amai sniffed and stopped crying, looking up at him with a rather comically confused face. "What?"

"Ah don't think Ah'm interestin'." He repeated. "An' yer not nosy. So Ah don' say much about meself."

"I think you're interesting." Amai said meekly.

Jin laughed. "Ah think yer interesting."

There was an awkward silence as Amai rubbed her nose on her sleeve and swiped the tears from her face before they froze. Amai was pouting by the time she was done. Jin, however, was smiling like a school girl, which made the edges of Amai's mouth turn up.

"Stop smiling at me like that," she threatened.

Rather than listening to her, Jin simply shifted himself so he was sitting next to her, his side pressed against hers. He leaned forward a little so he could peer at her face from below. He laughed.

"Yer a right strange one, ye are."

Flustered, Amai found herself angrily pouting again. "I resent that! And look who's talking!"

Before she could retort more, he kissed her gently, not pulling back for some time. Amai was suddenly not so cold anymore. His lips stretched into a grin as he knocked his forehead against hers.

"Ye love me," he teased in a singsong tone.

Amai groaned, rolling her eyes as she indelicately thunked her head on his shoulder.

"I take it back," she whined.

"Nawww," Jin wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Don' do that."

"I just-" Amai started but Jin rested his head on top of hers and held her tighter so she shut up instantly.

"Stop worryin' so much." He said, his eyes closed and his ears wiggling. "Yer my wind."
