Hey Guys. Sorry it's been like ½ a year since I've decided to write the second chapter. Oh, that sounds really bad. Anyway, I totally forgot I wrote any of this before I was cleaning out my email and found that someone favorited it. Thank you to Kiwiikeh and Yoruko Rhapsodos for reminding me! Here we go! (Oh my gosh, my shift keys are sticking!)
I sat on the light green couch quietly sipping the bitter drink that Mrs. Cake had attempted to make for me. It was all I could do not to cringe and spit it out. I leaned forward setting the tea on the coffee table. "Mrs. Cake, this tea is quite wonderful, thank you."
She turned around from the sink to look at me. "No, thank you. Are you sure you won't take pay for helping Fionna?" She asked glancing at her little adventuress sitting in a plush chair and glaring at her hot pink cast.
I smirked, knowing that more pain was going to come to Fionna and her friends soon enough. "Of course I won't. Not after you're letting me stay here while I work at the infirmary."
Fionna's head snapped up. She gave Cake an extremely bewildered look. "He's staying WHERE?!" Cake smiled sweetly.
"Well of course. Dr. Torrin is a very well respected doctor where he comes from. I was delighted when he emailed me 2 weeks ago. Apparently Gumball had told him about us."
I saw Fionna out of the corner of my eye grumble something like, of course he did. I smirked. Fionna looked up. "And where exactly do you come from?"
I smiled sweetly. "The land of Ooo of course." Fionna looked at me like I was one of the most idiotic people on the planet.
"That's a fantasy world that Ice Queen made up. How can you come from there if it's fake?" She squinted her eyes suspiciously.
"How do you know she didn't just write a fantasy story in a real world? You'd be surprised what the universe hold for us, my dear Fionna."
Cake glanced in between the two of us clearly sensed the disturbed rays that Fionna was sending me. I gave her my best smile then smoothly glanced at my watch. "Oh, I must be going now. My shift is starting. I promise you won't even notice me, Fionna. I'll be at the office most of the time. Thank you again, Mrs. Cake, for taking me in. It really is had been a pleasure talking with you." I headed out and began walking in the direction of the castle.
Fionna's P.O.V
"I don't like the looks of that guy one bit." Fionna said glaring at Cake. How could she possibly let a stranger as creepy as him in the house?
"He's one of the best Doctors we've had in a long time Fionna. You must treat him nicely. He's a good guy, and I'm not going to deprive the Kingdom a good some actual help on your behalf. I don't want to hear about this again. Do you hear me young lady?"
Cake almost never got angry like that. "Yes Cake" Fionna said. She stood up and was surprised by how heavy the cast was. Damn Doctor. Fionna though grabbing her sword-disliking the hard feeling of her hard cast against it rather than her hand-and stuffed it in her backpack, then slid the backpack on and headed out the door.
Fionna walked immediately to the cave where Marshall lived, knowing she could rant about the Mystery Doctor there. As she trudged up to the door, grumbling while she stared at the ground, and was stopped short by the yelling she heard inside. She peeked through the window, seeing Gumball and Marshall inside having a heated argument about something.
She hesitated, wondering if she should go in. She usually just walked in without knocking, but she felt that this wasn't the right time to do that. She lazily banged her hard cast against the door. The yelling stopped for a second then the door opened. Marshall looked at her for a second, then smiled gratefully, and gathered her in his arms tightly.
"Oh Fionna," he said. "I'm so sorry. I was so worried. Is everything okay?" He asked pulling away, and she saw the tears in his eyes. He really did care. She nodded. His eyes swept over, but stopped short when he saw the giant neon cast and he couldn't help but burst out laughing. Fionna smirked and swung it at his, the weight increasing the velocity, and nailed him in the arm.
"Ouch!" He said still laughing. She smirked, and that's when she remembered Gumball standing there. She pushed her way around Marshall and glared at Gumball. "And YOU." Gumball held his hand up in a surrendering way.
"What did I do?! It's not like I broke your arm!" He exclaimed.
"I don't care that Marshall broke my arm! It was an accident. But you told a freaking Doctor that he could stay with us! What's wrong with you?"
"Oh! Dr. Torrin? He's very well respected, and he needed a quiet place to stay, so he couldn't stay in the castle, so I gave him Cake's email." He smiled innocently like he didn't know what the problem was.
"Oh my glob! You sound exactly like Cake! There's something wrong about him! I can't believe you! Come on Marshall. Let's go somewhere else before I do something I'll regret."
Fionna look Marshall's arm pulling him out the door.
"Fionna. Where are we going?" Marshall Lee exclaimed letting himself be pulled by the petite girl.
"Somewhere quiet and closed off. Come on."
She continued to pull him through the woods for a while until they came to a clearing. By then she had cooled off a little. She walked over to a bush and pulled out a quilt. She laid it out, and sighed laying down on it. She stuck her hands behind her head and propped her knees up. Marshall came and laid down next to her.
He waited a bit before talking. "What was that?" He asked quietly.
Fionna sighed and slowly began to explain the whole situation with the creepy Doctor. She finished with "and now we're here."
Marshall propped himself up on one elbow so he was leaning over Fionna. "You could always come stay with me while he's here." He said smiling.
Fionna smiled gratefully. "Really? You wouldn't mind?"
Marshall smiled. "Of course not. We'd have lots of fun."
Fionna blushed deeply. "Doing what?" Fionna propped herself up on her elbows so she was very close to his face. Her gaze searched his eyes. He smirked.
"This." He mumbled leaning in and kissing her gently but deeply. Fionna let herself fall into the kiss, slowly reaching her arms up so she was hanging on to him. She ran her hands through his hair as he supported them both.
That's when they both heard the snap of a twig in the woods they'd came out of. They broke apart and Fionna searched for her sword before she remember she'd left it in her backpack which was still at Marshall's. She looked up to see what they were facing as it came out of the woods.
The familiar pink clothing appeared through the leaves. Gumball's eyes looked hurt as he walked towards them. "I guess that settles it then." Gumball said coldly and then she noticed her back and sword in his hands. He dropped the items at their feet and slowly walked out of the clearing again and out of sight.
Let me know what you guys think! I had fun writing this, sorry if there are typos, I tried to proofread the best that I could. I know my computer picked up a lot of the slack too. Thanks for reading. There's more to come. Love you sexies! 3
