Chapter 2: Hanging out at the Beach!
It was the ideal day to go out for a swim. The sun was out. The clouds were shining white. Luckily, that is exactly what our three lovely couples were doing at the beach. Well, some.
"Dawn, get in already." Paul said, irritated at how Dawn was acting. She had kept insisting she was going to go in the water any minute. It had been two hours and she still insisted she'd get in eventually. Her constant answer being 'I'm going!'.
Yeah. Right.
So far, only May and Dawn were the ones out of the water. May commenting she needed to get a tan. Drew giving her a look and calling her crazy. Dawn stood at the dry end up the ocean. Once in a while, she'd go close and stand on the wet sand. Although, she immediately ran away as soon as the water made contact with her feet. Paul growled in annoyance. Dawn was being childish and he was going to put an end to it.
"Get. In. Here!" he punctuated each word. Dawn shook her head. He sighed for what seemed like the hundredth time. He had to resort to the hard way. He got out of the water (much to his disliking) and went toward Dawn. Dawn kept her eyes on him wondering what he was up to. Paul stood in front of Dawn, while she cutely, even sweetly smiled at him, hoping it would make him have some sympathy. The smirk that formed on his face made it clear he as having none of it.
"You're not planning on going in anytime soon are you?" Dawn fidgeted.
"No...I'm going in...just not now."
"You said that hours ago." Paul pointed out.
"Did I?" Dawn responded, acting as if she had no idea what Paul was talking about.
"Yeah, but I'm tired of waiting. So," before Dawn could ask what he was going to say, she felt herself lifted off the ground and thrown over Paul's shoulder. She also noticed Paul walking back to the ocean. The freezing, salty, horrid ocean. She started to struggle.
"Paul!Put me down, put me down, put me down!" she yelled frantically. Paul stood a few centimeters away from the water. He continued to make his way further in before answering Dawn's frantic cries.
"If you insist." he dropped Dawn in the water. She yelled as the water made contact with her entire body. Her head popped out of the water. She coughed and shivered all at once.
"P..P..Paul." she stuttered, glaring at her boyfriend. Paul gave his 'What did I do?' look, which made Dawn even angrier.
"Don't give me that look! You are so going to pay! Look at me! I'm wet W-E-T wet!"
"Dawn, the whole point in us coming to the beach is to get wet." Dawn scoffed and pointed toward May's direction.
"Well I sure don't see May in the water!" May happened to hear Dawn and shouted back,
"Hey! Don't involve me in this! Besides I will go in...eventually."
"Ha! That's what you said hours ago, but noooo you're still sitting your ass on the towel!"
Paul sighed. He splashed water on Dawn's face. She blinked several few times before processing what happened.
"PAUL!" she screamed. She started to chase Paul, but with the waves it was impossible to get near him. He was already far away from her.
Ash and Misty were oblivious to the situation. They were too busy playing who could hold their breath longer underwater. That was until a huge wave hit them and they both drank too much salt water. Misty swam upward and gasped for air. She violently coughed. Once she was stable, she noted Ash had not come up.
"Ash!?" she yelled. She searched for him and spotted him coughing. He went over to her.
"I thought I died!" he said, still regaining his breathe. A sudden thought crossed his mind and he placed his hand on Misty's stomach.
"Misty! Are you okay? Is the baby okay!?" Misty swatted his hands away,
"Ash! I told you I'm not pregnant!" Ash nervously chuckled.
"Right, forgot about that."
Drew grew tired of being in the water. He preferred to spend some time teasing May. He got out of the water and walked to her location. May had her eyes closed, the sun shining on her, until it was blocked. She opened her eyes and saw Drew.
"Drew!" she smiled, but soon remembered what Paul did to Dawn. She quickly shot up and backed away. Drew gave her a puzzled look.
"What?" he asked, May looked at him suspiciously.
"You're not attempting something are you?" He chuckled, it was indeed fun to see May looking cautious. He grabbed both her wrists and tugged her toward him.
"If I was going to do something, then I would have done it already." May's eyes widened and she struggled to get free from his grasp.
"Drew! Don't you dare!" he laughed.
"I'm not going to do anything. I'm only messing with you." May huffed, but didn't stop tugging on her wrists.
"Well even if you did do something, I would have killed you."
Drew attempted to look offended.
"You'd kill me?"
"In a heartbeat." she replied.
"That breaks my heart!"
May giggled at Drew's pout. He had let go of her wrist and for that she was relieved.
"And what's so funny?" he remarked.
"You're acting like a baby!"
"Am not."
"Are to."
"Am not."
"Whatever you say Drew." May said as she started to walk away.
"Hey! Don't walk away from me!" he said, running after her.
May began to sprint away until she bumped into someone. She fell on her behind and groaned in pain.
"Sorry, I didn't see you."
"May? Is that you?" May looked up at the voice and broke into a smile.
"Brendan! Hiya!"
Drew caught up to May and noticed Brendan. He frowned as he observed the scene. Brendan had helped May stand and was now conversing with her. He walked over to stand next to May. She hadn't noticed his presence, she was busy chatting away with this random stranger. He coughed loud enough to get both of their attention. May smiled.
"Hi Drew."
"May, who's your friend?" asked Brendan.
"Oh he's-"
"May's boyfriend." Drew finished. Brendan had a look of doubt. He also had a small frown forming.
"Really?"
"Yeah, really."
"May, is this true?"
"Yup!" May said in a cheery voice. Brendan frowned further. Drew noticed this and smirked.
"What's wrong?"
"Huh? Oh, nothing." Brendan answered. He decided to ignore Drew and faced May.
"We should hangout sometime. I haven't seen you in over two years."
The gesture angered Drew. Brendan dared to ignore him? As if that would be okay with him. He wrapped an arm around May's waist and pulled her toward him.
"I suggest you leave my May alone."
"Why should I? I was merely suggesting to meet up."
"Over my dead body."
"We should get that arranged." Brendan answered.
May gaped at Brendan. She was about to scold him before Drew spoke up.
"You're asking to get punched."
May stood there. Slightly confused. Slightly scared.
"Look, let's not be violent. All I want to do is spend some time with May. Talk to her and catch up on things."
"You can do that right now." Brendan glared at Drew.
"In private."
"In your dreams."
May tugged Drew.
"Drew, come on let's go. It was nice seeing you Brendan."
"Wait! You're not seriously going, are you?"
"Yes, like I said, nice seeing you. Come on Drew." Drew reluctantly let May take him away from Brendan.
"Didn't know you needed to be protected, Drew." Brendan said. Drew pulled away from May and went up to him. May protested.
"Say that again."
"With pleasure. I said, can't believe you need protection." Brendan smirked.
In an instant he found himself on the ground, his nose bleeding. May gasped and went to Drew.
"That hurt!"
"I warned you."
Brendan sat on the ground. Sniffling sounds could be heard. May crouched to his level.
"Are you crying Brendan?"
"No!" he shouted and ran off.
"Drew, I think you made him cry."
"I barely hit him."
"Well, if the cops come by my house while you're around…we know nothing. Okay?"
"Agreed." Drew lifted May bridal style. She yelped in surprise and started to panic.
"No! Put me down Drew!"
"Ok." he said, dropping May. She once again landed on her behind. It hurt just as much as the first time. She saw Drew walking away and shouted.
"DREW!"
"Oh crap." he started to sprint, May in pursuit. He ran inside the ocean and was surprised May went in as well (he also noted he had successfully got May in the water on her own free will).
"Hey!Forgetting someone?" everyone turned to see Barry. They smiled at him and all of them carried him to the water. Barry struggled as he was in the air.
"This wasn't suppose to end this way!"
