Ch. 6
Obsidian studied the screen, his Absol was level ten with the moves Scratch, Incinerate and Feint Attack. He saw Electrum and Aqua doing the sand for theirs. Electrum's Mudkip knew Water Gun, Tackle, and Mud Slap. While, Aqua's Piplup knew Peck, Steel Wing and Bubblebeam. The woman patiently waited, her Arcanine even sat and scratched itself, she noticed that their team cohesion was completely gone.
"Absol use Feint Attack!"
"Piplup try Steel Wing!"
"Mudkip hit 'em with Mud Slap!"
The Arcanine easily dodged all of their moves, but there was no counterattack, it just sat down and it's trainer smiled.
"Keep trying." Was all she said from her side of the field. Their team cohesion had totally fallen apart, she noted.
"Mudkip, Water Gun!"
"Absol, Scratch!"
"Piplup, use Steel Wing!"
After ten minutes of throwing themselves uselessly against it, Obsidian assessed the situation. He realized that they needed to work together. He sighed at his stupidity.
"Guys! We need to coordinate our attacks!"
They looked at him, and realized he was right. Electrum spoke first.
"Well what we do?" He asked while Obsidian assessed he situation. Aqua spoke up.
"Obsidian, you distract and we'll hit him on both sides." Obsidian nodded, they had the advantage but the needed strategy.
"Right, follow my lead. Absol! Use Feint Attack again!"
"Mudkip, Water Gun!"
"Piplup, try using Bubblebeam!"
The Arcanine was focused on dodging the Absol so it didn't see neither water type move. Water Gun hit first, then Bubblebeam, finally Feint Attack hit. A buzzer sounded.
"Well done you three." The woman said as she closed the gap between them. They turned towards her. Electrum asked first.
"Can we ring the bell now?" He asked. The woman nodded.
"Please do. But, I have a question for each of you to consider... What are these pokemon to you? Are they tools, a means to an end or are they teammates, friends even think about it." With that she made to leave, Obsidian stopped her.
"I feel like I know you ma'am, who are you?" She turned to look at him and lifted her sleeve revealing a tattoo of a blood-red Rayquaza curling around a black rose that had its thorns appeared to latch into her skin along her forearm. Obsidian whispered her name.
"Scarlett. Is Purple here too?" He asked but she had turned and the door had closed.
Scarlett handed the Arcanine's ball back to her father.
"How did they do?" The Colonel asked as he leaned back in his chair. She chuckled.
"Good, but they rely on teamwork maybe a little too much. If Obsidian didn't take charge none of them would've landed a hit. But they are the first to make it. They show promise." Her father nodded.
"Think they have what it takes?"
"If they work together, yes but if the reports are true, this whole platoon has what it takes to work with Luna and Sol. We're tracking a Resistance naval convoy, with your approval father, my squad and Purple's will take them to hit it." Her father nodded his approval and she took her leave, opening her comm, she called Teams Luna and Sol.
"Get Whiskey Platoon briefed in the next few days, their coming with us."
The Colonel looked at his monitor, Team Comet had made it, Tungsten was arguing with Pyrite over who was in control, while their third teammate, Bisque, was flirting with Pyrite, eventually though they got it together and Pyrite established her dominance. Pyrite's Charmander distracted his Seviper as Tungsten's Aron Headbutted it into Bisque's Minun. The Colonel smiled, they were coming along.
His view screen switched to Team Eclipse, Crimson was the obvious leader with Topaz seemingly content to just be led, the same with Supaki. Their pokemon, a Fletchling, Turtwig, and Eevee respectively were throwing themselves against his Alakazam and were slowly gaining ground. He noticed they weren't hitting the same area twice, testing the Psychic's abilities to the max.
Satisfied, the Colonel turned off the monitor, he knew who would win. He quickly pulled up his private emails. He checked the newest one, marked Urgent and Password Classified.
Overlord,
RE: Projects REBIRTH and EON
Concerning REBIRTH, the experiments aren't fully going as planned, all but one subject have died, suggest aborting project. Last subject in critical condition, predicted to die. Concerning Project EON, our experiments are proving a little more fruitful, but if we had more equipment, maybe the Eevees could achieve the desired form. It is proving difficult to recreate both Lunar and Solar Eclipses. That is the report, I will send another one pending your request.
With Regards,
Mangler.
The team went to the bell cautiously, they didn't trust the silence. The bell hung there, it's brassy surface covered with ornate carvings and whorls, Obsidian rang it first, followed by Electrum and Aqua. The sound rang through the tower and something clicked deep inside Obsidian's head. Change was on the wind.
A/N: Well, I lied again, sue me, it's out huh? Still I apologize for the wait, I kinda got sidetracked. -eyes flit to tv with Skyrim main menu on it.- On a totally different note, I'm thinking of starting a small fanfic taking place during the missing twenty-five years, what happened to the world before Our Story begins. Tell me what you think. I am also upping the team limit to eight, if you can, send me your chosen extra two, if not, I'll do it, I'm still excepting OCs if their parents are one of the following: Sapphire, Pearl, Platina, Black, Touya, Cheren, Bianca, Calem, and Serena.
As always Nightmares and Horrors delight!
