Part Five
"KAIEN-DONO!" RUKIA EXCLAIMED, HER eyes wide in shock.
What is happening? Just now, Kaien-dono was about to kill me with Nejibana...
She looked at the guard. Wait... is he...?
In a swift motion, the latter was sliced into oblivion by the real Nejibana.
Rukia's body stiffened. Kaien-dono...
He's the real Kaien-dono...
After a few moments of heavy silence, Kaien gripped his sword a little too tightly and shakily placed it back inside its sheath. After that, he slowly turned to face her, his once-lively blue eyes now dark with worry and something else she couldn't place.
"Kuchiki, I..." he began, then thought better of it and changed his expression to that of a cheerful one. "Ah, man, that guard was one hell of an impostor! He really looked a lot like me! But I'm much more handsome than he is, right, Kuchiki?"
Rukia blinked, staring up at him. "Kaien... dono..." she whispered, still in disbelief. "Is... Is that... really you...?"
Pain flitted itself over Kaien's eyes. He averted his gaze towards the ground, unconsciously clenching his fists. Rukia looked at him worriedly, then tried to stand up.
In an instant, he was at her side, helping her. "Oi, don't push yourself too hard, Kuchiki!" he scolded. "You're still injured, you idiot."
She blinked again, once, then she chuckled, startling him.
"It's you, all right, Kaien-dono."
His expression softened.
"Of course it's me, Kuchiki," he boasted. "It's your favourite vice-captain with the awesome good looks: Shiba Kaien!"
Rukia laughed for the first time in a week.

"SHOOT TO KILL, SHINSŌ."
Rangiku's eyes were closed as she braced herself for the impact.
But it unexpectedly never came.
Tentatively, she opened her eyes, and what met her vision was certainly not what she expected.
Gin was surprisingly standing just not too far away from her, Shinsō's blade extended and cut through a guard's chest.
A guard whose sword almost pierced her skin.
There was silence before Rangiku's voice was heard.
"Gin..." she said in disbelief, her pale-blue eyes wide in what he assumed to be shock yet he could not detect any hint of suspicion in them.
It was like she trusted him completely and wholeheartedly no matter what he did to her.
"Rangiku," he drawled, retracting Shinsō's length and placing it back in its sheath. He then sighed quietly, opening his eyes slightly to reveal a bit of his enchanting blue, blue eyes. "...Just how many times do I have to say sorry... before I hurt you again...?"
Her eyes widened even more at that. She had never, ever, in her whole life, heard her childhood friend speak to her like that. She had seen sides to him that he had never let others see, but the way he was acting now, sounding so heartbreakingly grieved and guilty...
It made her chest constrict with pain.
"Gin..." she whispered, going over to him slowly as if she were in a trance.
His eyes were pained. "No. No, Rangiku..." He took a step back. "Don't come near me. Please."
Something inside her snapped. "Why should I? Why should I, Gin? I have just gotten you back, and you are going to explain to me everything. Everything, Gin. Please." Tears clouded her vision as she tried very hard not to break down in front of him. "Please. Don't leave me hanging again. I—I still..."
He froze at the impact of her words, his mind reeling in confusion.
Rangiku...
"...I couldn't move on," he began, sounding unsure. "I couldn't stop thinking about the way you looked at me back then, like you haven't had a clue as to what was going on but you dismissed all thoughts of that and instead, you… you cried for me."
Tears were now flowing freely from her eyes as she looked at him; it was stinging him, the way she was staring at him like he was someone who was… actually worth it.
He smiled wryly. I guess it's time to come clean, then… "Rangiku," he said softly.
She jolted slightly at the sound of her name being called, but she waited for him to elaborate.
"You told me not to leave you hanging again. So I won't. Not anymore."
Her eyes widened as she was greeted by his beautiful, genuine smile and his blue, blue eyes.
"The truth is… I did it all… for you."
—
THE GUARD INSTANTLY BACKED away, clutching the left side of his torso as it bled heavily.
Momo stood in front of her childhood friend, Tobiume unsheathed and eyes narrowed with the intent to kill.
"Hitsugaya-kun, are you okay?" she asked softly, but the hard expression on her face betrayed her tone.
"Hinamori…" Toushirou said in surprise, his green eyes wide at the unexpected event. "What… What are you doing here?"
"Backup," she replied tersely, still eyeing the guard before her with growing distaste. "Yamamoto-sōtaichō ordered a few of us to help. Takashi-san has disappeared."
—
THERE WAS A STILL silence as Byakuya comprehended a voice from afar.
Fake Hisana growled. "What the hell is that—"
"Byakuya-sama." A strong, feminine voice rang in the surroundings, and the pair instantly turned to see Hisana herself standing not too far away from them, her eyes surprisingly narrowed which contradicted her soft features.
"Byakuya-sama, that woman is not I," she said firmly. "She, or rather, he, is someone who is sent by the seer of this world in order to—"
"Shut up, woman!" Fake Hisana instantly changed into her true form which was indeed a guard from the Otherworld. He brandished a sword out of nowhere and began charging at her. "You cannot just declare our orders like that!"
After those words left his lips, numerous cherry blossoms began to surround him in a deadly dance, speaking to him volumes about their ability.
Byakuya's voice was cold and dangerous. "Hurt my wife, and I shall take your head."
—
A KICK FROM NOWHERE sent the guard crashing headfirst onto the ground mercilessly, leaving Shinji to gape at the sudden event.
"Wh—Wh—What—" he stuttered brainlessly.
Sarugaki Hiyori dusted off invisible dirt on her clothes and hands before turning around and smirking at him guilelessly. "Man, that was pathetic, Shinji. Looks like I shoulda been captain rather than you!" she boasted.
Shinji, however, was still flabbergasted. "Y—You're the real one? The real Hiyori?!"
She frowned in response, then wasted no time in throwing her slipper right at his open mouth, causing him to gag violently. "You moron! Who else would I be?! Ain't it freakin' obvious?"
He absently threw the slipper to the side. "W—Well… I know for a fact that you are perfectly capable of just outright killing me for a random, idiotic reason—"
Hiyori twitched, then smiled sweetly and evilly as she smacked her other slipper onto her open palm. Hard. "If that's what you want, then THAT IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU RIGHT NOW, YOU SHITHEAD!"
"Oh shi—OI, HIYORI! STOP!"
"I WILL NOT STOP UNTIL I KILL YOU, YOU IDIOTIC BALDY TRENDSETTER!"
"HEY! WHO THE HELL'RE YA CALLIN' BALDY TRENDSETTER, BITCH?!"
—
WHEN RENJI OPENED HIS eyes, he saw a glowing colour of orange.
He sat up instantly. "What—Where—How—Who—?" Then his vision adjusted and he saw a girl before him, her smile pleasant despite the worried lines on her face and the beads of sweat trickling down her brow. "Inoue-san?"
"You're finally awake, Abarai-kun," she said cheerfully as a form of greeting, stopping her healing and letting him take a breather. "You've been out for about half an hour. Soul Society sent us as reinforcements."
"Wait, the guard—?"
"Ah, Tsubaki-kun took care of him," she answered casually with the same smile on her face as if she were just talking about the weather.
Renji paled a little and sweatdropped. I don't want to know how…
—
TOUSEN SIGHED AND LOOKED at the thoroughly-beaten guard on the ground, then turned towards the unconscious Hisagi and Komamura.
He could see now. But he wasn't complete. He felt as if a part of him was missing, and he intended to know what the hindrance was despite his secretly lifelong wish to see the world.
"Hisagi… Komamura…" he murmured, kneeling before them and striking his sword onto the ground. "…it's nice to see you two once again."
—
KENPACHI DIDN'T KNOW WHAT actually happened. He still felt a little disoriented and in disbelief over Yachiru unexpectedly striking him that he didn't comprehend the next thing that happened.
Before the little pink-haired girl could impale him, she was incinerated by a kidō spell, causing her to disintegrate into the atmosphere.
Kenpachi blinked. "You…" he said, his voice taking on a slightly awed tone.
Unohana gave him a sidelong glance, still wearing her trademark pleasant smile.
"It looks like you also need help at times, Zaraki-taichō," she says softly.

A/N: I'm using lack of time as an excuse, so from now on each part will be really short, only containing at least 1,000 words. It's not much, but it's a start. I want to keep on updating this fic, but that will only do if I make the parts shorter. So, since this is a movie fic, it's entirely plausible. So there. :) See you next time.
[Don't worry, I'll try to update frequently in between classes. XD]
