Now Drew wasn't one to get surprised easily nor was he one to not notice strange behaviors, but that didn't stop him from wondering why he ended up in the schools most secluded area.
Paul and Ash stood before him. Ash wiping the sweat off his face and scowling at Paul.
"You suck Paul! I was the only one who ran and snatched Drew." Ash shouted, complaining to the male.
"Can it Ketchum."
Drew watched as they argued back and forth. He noticed a few chairs and sat on one.
"Guys, mind telling me why you kidnapped me?"
"It's not kidnapping." Paul answered, turning away from Ash. He went and sat on one of the chairs. Ash followed suit.
"Okay, then mind telling me why we're at the most secluded area of the school?"
"Because the girls would join us if they saw as at the ones in the cafeteria!" Ash stated.
Drew quirked an eyebrow, "So you guys got tired of seeing your girlfriends?"
Ash shook his head, "Of course not! I'd never get tired of seeing Misty!"
"That's corny Ash."
"No it isn't!" Ash argued.
Drew smirks, "Whatever you say Ash. So, are you finally going tell me the reason?"
Paul nudged Ash.
"Well go on."
"Quit nudging me! Ok, when are you going to ask May out?"
Drew nearly fell from his seat. He did not see that coming. He looked at Ash with an odd expression.
"What makes you think I want to date May."
Ash tugged his hair, "Don't play those games Drew! We all know you like May!"
"Of course I do. She's my best friend." Drew's smirk widens at seeing Ash frustrated.
"As more than a best friend!"
"A sister?" Drew smugly asked.
"No! Ew that's gross! I mean as a woman!"
"Oh? Now you're being specific. Let's see, what if I don't see her as a woman?"
Ash looked at Paul with pleading eyes, but he was having none of it. Ash was on his own.
"Thats impossible! You get jealous when guys approach her, you pamper her, you're overprotective of her! Heck, you're a lot nicer to her then other girls!"
"And?"
Ash slumped in his chair.
"You're an asshole. I give up. Fine, don't admit you love May."
Paul looked at Ash and then at Drew. If he didn't intervene now, they wouldn't talk for weeks. He did not need that sort of idiotic tension.
"Alright Drew, enough beating around the bush. Why haven't you asked May out." Paul asked, noting the green haired tense at his sudden voice.
Ash continued to be slumped in his chair and muttered, "You two are practically a couple just unofficial."
Drew managed a crooked smile.
"Guys, you're not going to pester me about this right? You never cared about my love-life."
Ash groaned in agony, he animatedly sat up.
"That's because I prayed you'd eventually confess, but we're graduating soon!"
"So? We'll be going to the same college.'"
Paul narrowed his gaze, "Drew are you scared?"
Drew stared at Paul, "Scared? Of what?"
"That you'll mess things up. You've been friends since fifth grade right? Suddenly jumping from best friends to lovers is a huge step for you."
Drew's attempted smirk never occurred. He slumped in his chair instead, looking defeated.
"Okay, you got me. Dammit Paul, why did we become friends? Ash would have never guessed that."
Ash huffed but had to agree. Paul heaved a sigh,
"Because the girls are friends so it was obvious we'd eventually be too."
Drew ran his hand through his hair, "True."
"Look Drew, Ketchum and I won't force you, but it's pretty obvious nothing will change between you two."
"Heck, I'm surprised Paul and Dawn got together first before you and May!" Ash added.
"Fuck you Ketchum. I'm surprised Misty had mutual feelings for you."
Ash elbowed Paul in a non-playful manner.
Drew straightened up, "Okay boys, the bromance must stop now."
"Disgusting." Came both replies from the males. Drew smirked and flipped his hair.
"Loved this little chat and all, but let's not do it again. Agreed?" Ash nodded and Paul grunted in agreement.
Drew stood and bid goodbye to the two.
~~HinagikuAi~~
He walked down the hallway and spotted May. The brunette noticed him first and waved to him.
"Drew! Where were you? And where's Ash and Paul?"
"We had a bro to bro talk." May tilted her head.
"You guys never have those."
Drew shrugged in response.
"Hey May," May waited for him to continue. He smirked and flipped his hair.
"one day I'll confess my love to you. So don't go dating other guys."
May's face flushed red. She failed to notice Drew already walking to class. Her only train of thought was Drew's confession. Then again, would that even be considered one? She recovered from her shock and could still see Drew's silhouette.
"Drew!" She screamed, causing students to stare at her in question. Drew stopped in his tracks and turned.
May grinned, "When that day comes I'll accept your love wholeheartedly!"
Mutters and whispers were instantly spread among the students. She could hear a few. Mostly,
"Drew likes May?"
"Did he confess?"
"Wasn't that like some lifetime commitment statement?"
"They're seriously not a couple yet?"
Drew, who stood at the other end of the hallway, flushed red. He hated the thousands of stares. He hated feeling embarrassed. But most of all, he hated a certain brunette who caused a scene. He promised to get payback. He scurried into class and sat on his desk.
Ash ran up to him with a grin.
"That was something."
"Shut up."
"Aw! Drew's embarrassed! Your face is all red you know."
"Ash, I will hurt you if you say another word."
"Geez, we didn't mean confess publicly." Paul's voice appeared as he sat in the desk in front of Drew.
"Fuck you!" Drew shouted, earning him even more stares.
"May I can't believe you yelled that! I shrieked with joy! But...you totally embarrassed Drew." Dawn said, grinning. Misty couldn't stop her laughter.
"Did you see his face? It was priceless!" May fiddled with her hands.
"I didn't mean to embarrass him. I was just happy." Dawn pat her friend in the back.
"Don't worry! You know he won't be mad forever! Remember, he will confess."
