Ezekiel P.O.V.
"This isn't happening! We have to find another way!" Stone had finally released me from his grasp when we reached a jewelry shop.
"What other way? Do you think there's anything else that'll stop Dulaque from coming back? With more of his guys? With stronger weapons? He isn't gonna stop 'till he gets her. The only way to stop him is to take away the only value she has! If she can't marry Darren cause she's married to you, she becomes worthless!" If that was Stone convincing me, he wasn't doing a great job.
"She's never been worthless." I shouted at him angrily. People around the shop started to stare.
Stone pulled me into a corner and placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Look, do you love her?" He couldn't be serious. As far as I knew, she was the only person I ever loved. I wouldn't have even called it love if Jenkins hadn't defined it like that. Before I met her, there was so little that mattered. Now, she mattered more than anything. Nothing could ever hurt her. No danger could get near her. There isn't anything I won't do to keep her safe. I threw his hand off my shoulder.
"What kind of a question is that?!" I had just about everyone's attention now, as I stormed towards the exit, stopped only because I bumped straight into a couple leaving.
"If you want her to stay with you, you don't have a lot of options!" Jacob yelled after me as I walked outside. He followed me out and chased me to the corner.
"Grow up, Ezekiel. You have to decide right now! You marry Jade, or you run away again. I won't try to stop you, but you need to make up your mind. For once in your life, commit to something!" He was so angry it was comical. I flipped my fingers around to reveal the ring I'd stolen from the couple exiting the jewelry store. The look on his face was completely worth it. I patted him on the back and started walking away.
"Good distraction, mate. No way they'll know I took it when they go looking." I could almost feel him ready to kill me and I broke into a run before my words sunk in all the way.
Marry Jade or run away? Who says I can't do both?

Du Lac's P.O.V.
Finally back in civilization, I sat at my desk, staring at a small piece of paper like it was my death certificate. The Librarian was much more clever than I gave him credit for. If Jade married his pet thief, it would take a lot more than brute force for her to be available again. Widows are not available for marriage by the law of mermaids. She would have to willing sign divorce papers! It's as if they sent me the invitation to mock me!
I threw the card across the room and slammed my head on the desk. I can't let this happen! And then it came to me. The simple solution to my complicated problem… If I kill Ezekiel Jones before he marries my daughter, there won't be anyway to stop her wedding to King Darren and she should have not more deluded reasons to resist. Laughing, I left my desk and picked the invitation off the ground. And they've been so kind to set up Jade's wedding for me. I would kill Jones and Jade would marry King Darren in his place…
I walked over to my desk and pulled out Lumia's dagger. Jade refused to follow in her mothers steps once already. Refused to kill her precious Ezekiel. I'll show her how it should be done. I will kill Ezekiel Jones with the dagger she betrayed me with. And then she will know exactly what love is. And then she will know that I'm only doing what's best for her. And with King Darren's support, The Librarians won't even be able to put up a fight.
There's nothing they can do to stop this now. It's their fault for crossing me. They started this when they took Jade, now I have to end it. It's time for the thief who stole my daughter's heart to pay for his crimes…
