I'm back! Don't forget to Review! There are three votes for Bender and one vote for Brian!
Vasya tailed Bender closely, nerves fluttering in her stomach like a cloud of moths. "Let's go." He motioned to the others who watched them curiously, "where? We're not supposed to leave the Library." Brian asked but Bender ignored him. "We're going for a walk, feel free to tag along." Bender waved him off. "Who's we?" Clare asked curiously. "Ruski and I" Bender jerked his thumb at Vasya who waved her fingers a little sheepishly.
"You can't be serious." Andy eyed them in disbelief, "Bender it's one thing to get yourself in trouble but…"
"You coming or what sporto?" Bender cut him off and they stood in silence a moment before the others eventually gave in. They watched Vernon's back before slipping out the doors. "How do you know where Vernon went?" Clare asked Bender who led them down the hall.
"I don't"
Vasya slipped to the front to join the conversation, "Then how do you know when he'll be back?" She ask.
"I don't" Bender looked back at her, "Being bad feels pretty good huh?"
Not particularly, Vasya's stomach was turning with nerves and she felt a dull burning in the pit of her stomach. She fell back from the rest of the group and felt in her sweater pocket for the roll of antacids she kept with her. Already cursed with Hereditary stomach problems, Vasya began to suffer from a dull burning in her stomach that she treated with off the shelf antacid's from the pharmacy down the street from her family's bungalow.
Her fingers fiddled with the aluminum wrapping as Brian stopped to check on her, "You okay?" He asked and she nodded and slipped a pink, chalky tablet on her tongue. "Stomach ache is all. Happens when I get nervous." She said as she chewed the tablet and gagged a little as she tried to get the left over pounded that was embedded in her teeth. "Could be an Ulcer.." He stated.
Vasya looked at him and he blushed and began to ramble, "y-you know, one of those little sores on the inside of the stomach where overactive stomach acid eats through the lining of the stomach. They're really common I mean about 2 million Americans are diagnosed with them every year, but you know, you, you should really get like a doctor to check it out cause…"
Vasya just stared at his a little while and straightened up, "uh, alright." She looked a head, "we should… we should go." She started off and Brian stood there a bit before nodded, "Uh, yea, totally we should…" He realized she had stopped listening, "We should do that." He muttered.
They turned dozens of times until Vasya couldn't figure out exactly where they were. Bender stopped them at a row of beat up looking lockers and opened the one toward the end with black graffiti painted on it vertically. Bender opened the Locker and a make shift Guillotine came crashing down and decapitating the tip of a ratty looking Converse shoe.
"Slob" Andy snorted
"My maid's on vacation" Bender snarled and opened the smaller top compartment and pulled out a rolled up paper bag, and from that pulled out another, and then another, and finally a plastic bag filled with something green. "Drugs?" Brian gaped.
"Screw that Bender put it back." Andy protested in vain as Bender pocketed the pot and started down the hall. "Drugs… The boy had Marijuana" Claire followed Bender and Brian repeated himself Andy shook his head, "Shut up" he followed Bender.
Brian turned to Allison, who's mouth hung open and Vasya who took a few moments and pulled out her antacids again, "Do you approve of this?" Vasya rolled her eyes and gasped his forearm, "Come on." She pulled him along. Allison paused and looked after them before snatching the lock off the locker and stuffing it in her bag.
"We'll cross through the lab, and then we'll double back." Bender instructed them. "you better be right." Andy warned, "If Vernon cuts us off it's your fault asshole." Brian strained to hear what was said, "What'd he say, where are we going?"
They continued to walk until they stopped in their tracks when they spotted Vernon. "Oh God Oh God, Oh God." Vasya whispered as they jogged down the halls, back tracking and ducking every time Vernon seemed to pop up.
"Wait, wait, hold it hold it!" Bender stopped them. "We have to go through the cafeteria."
"No the Activities' Hall" Andy protested, "Hey man you don't know what you're talking about!" Bender brushed him off, the two started a shouting matching until Allison reminded them of the problem.
"We're through listening to you, we're going this way." Andy took off and they had no choice but to follow. Vasya's calves burned as she ran and her heart dropped when they reached a large steel gate blocking their path.
This Set off another shouting match and Vasya couldn't take it anymore. "HEY!" she barked loudly and they all fell silent, none of them had ever heard the normally soft spoken girl raise her voice to so much as a snap. "Would you kindly shut your holes for two seconds?! I'm not sure if you've noticed but screaming at each other is not helping!"
Along the run Vasya's shamrock green headband slipped off her head and her black hair was hanging in her face. "Now We're in the Activities Hall, if we double back and take a right in the E hallway we will be in the Arts and Music Hall, then it's a thirty second jog from there to the back doors of the Library."
"Very clever Ruski, but those doors are always locked" Bender pointed out.
"Mr. Shmit always leaves a spare master key in the Orchestra room under his copy of Broadway overture sheet music." She pointed out. "There's no way we can get there and to the library before Vernon notices we're gone."
Bender paused, "You guy's can." He grinned, and pulled out the drugs and without preamble stuffs it down the front of Brian's pants. "get back to the Library, Listen to Ruski, she obviously is the brains of the operation, Keep your unit on this" The boy gave them a mock salute and began to run in the opposite direction, singing "Air Borne Ranger" at the top of his lungs as the rest of them made a U-turn and followed Vasya to the Orchestra room.
Vasya slipped into the larger room with its vaulted ceiling and made for the large wood piano which had papers scattered around the top of it. "Come on, Come on." Claire urged her as she lifted the thick book of music and snatched up the small silver key. "Let's go." She rushed them out.
"Won't Mr. Shmit notice the key is missing?" Andy asked. "I'll return it Monday, I come here sometimes on weekends to use the orchestra room. I can just say I borrowed it to get in the library for homework." Vasya said and opened the heavy metal doors as ushered the others in before closing the door quietly.
They all dashed to their seats and were engulfed in a tense silence. "that was fast thinking back there" Brain noted to Vasya who nodded her thanks, "I wonder what's happening with John." Claire whispered. "I don't know." Andy muttered.
As if on Cue Bender rounded the corner, tailed by Mr. Vernon, who looked ready to kill. "Get your stuff let's go" He barked and pushed on Bender's shoulder "Mr. Wiseguy here has taken it upon himself to go to the gymnasium" He explained to the others who looked like they were about to have a heart attack and die from not surprised.
"I'm sorry to inform you that you're going to be without his services for the rest of the day." Bender sat back in his seat and leaned back. "B-O-O H-O-O" He spelt out. Vernon glared at him "Everything's a big joke, huh Bender? The false alarm you pulled, Friday, false alarms are really funny, aren't they? What if your home, what if your family..." Vernon paused to rethink that, "What if your dope was on fire?"
"Impossible sir." Bender sassed, "It's in Johnson's underwear" Vasya covered her mouth and Andy failed to cover a chuckle. Vernon turned on the Jock.
"You think he's funny? You think this is cute? You think he's bitchin', is that it?" He snapped and Andy withered under his scolding " Lemme tell you something. Look at him, he's a bum." He motioned to Bender.
"You wanna see something funny? You go visit John Bender in five years!" Bender's face gravened as the teacher made an example out of him. "You'll see how God damned funny he is!" Vernon sneered at John, "What' the matter John, you gonna cry?" He sneered and grabbed Bender's shoulder. "Let's go…"
"Hey get your fucking hands off me!" Bender barked and jerked out of his grasp. "I expect better manners from you dick." He strutted out in front of the teacher and placed his sunglasses on Andy's desk, "For better Hallway Vision"
Bender brushed by Vasya who was sitting at the table in front of Brian's and turned on his heel to face her while walking backwards and blew her a mocking air kiss before exiting the Library.
"He's a dead man." Andy said after they both left. And Vasya felt the familiar churn in her stomach.
