Time for another exciting chapter. This one was inspired by an old episode from Justice League: Unlimited. I thought to myself and said 'Would be interesting to use this idea'. And so, let's begin!

Chapter 12

Somewhere in the outskirts of China…

The military was preparing itself from an immediate threat that has broken out an hour ago. As tanks aimed, the soldiers had missile launchers and other variety of weapons. Aiming towards the mountains, something moved and the ground started to shake. The soldiers were frighten at what was about to happen, but they knew what they have to do. As the shaking was getting stronger, something appeared from the mountains. Knowing that this is their target, the military began to fire with everything they got. Missiles after missiles were being fired, but nothing was happening. And in a sudden flash of light from the object, the military is blown away.

The Team was inside Mount Justice getting themselves ready for their upcoming mission. The Justice League has been investigation a strange situation somewhere in China. But due to with China's political power, the League has no chance in trying to investigate without informing China. However, the League has other plans.

As the Team was gathered in the briefing room, Batman was the only one present there. Once everyone was present, Batman said "Team, you are all aware of our situation with China."

When the Team nodded, Batman said "Since we cannot aid them, then we have to try the next best thing. While we try to negotiate with them, you will infiltrate and find out what is going on and report to us."

As the Team nodded, Raizen said "I have a couple of question."

When Batman looks at him, Raizen said "Will this mission take place during the night and is there going to be a full moon?"

Confused by the question, Batman replied "The mission will take place during night."

As he looks in the database, Batman said "And according to the data, there will be a full moon."

Getting his answer, Raizen then said "I'm afraid that I cannot come in this mission."

Everyone looks at him and said "What?!"

Batman then said "And why can't you go?"

Raizen replied "Let's just say that things will get 'messy' when I am under a full moon."

Remembering what Raizen said about him turning into a giant ape under a full moon, Donna said "I think it would be safe for him to stay behind."

When Batman was about to say something, he forgot it and said "Just be on standby if the Team needs something."

Raizen shrugged and said "Highly doubt they need me."

As the Team rolled their eyes, Batman said "You all better start heading out. Remember, investigate and report in."

Nodding once more again, the Team made their way to the Bio-Ship. As Raizen followed them, Donna walked up to him and said "Are you sure you can't come?"

Raizen looks at her and said "If I go, then I will jeopardize the mission."

"But you have been helpful to us," Donna said, "You can…"

"I will be here in case anything happen," Raizen said, "Though I highly doubt it."

As Donna gave off a worried look, Raizen placed a hand on her shoulder and said in an encouraging way "You will be fine. Just go in, find out what is going on and be back before you know it."

When Donna nodded, she slightly blushed as she entered the Bio-Ship. Once she was inside, the ship took off to China. On their way, Miss Martian decides to talk to the girls, except for Donna, through the telepathic link and said "Hey, do you think Wonder Girl likes Raizen?"

Startled by the question, Zatanna said "Whoa, Whoa! What makes you think that?!"

Miss Martian said "Well…the way she blushes when he is nice to her, I figure she likes him."

Artemis then said "I don't think that Raizen will be perfect for her. The guy is an ass."

Rocket mentally laughed and said "I have worked with the both of them before and if he is an ass, then why save her so many times?"

Caught off guard with the question, Artemis said "Let's just focus on the mission!"

After a moment of silence, Rocket said "Ten bucks says the two of them get together!"

After a few minutes of flying, the Team finally arrived at the outskirts of China. When they landed, the Team got off and began to wonder around. Traveling though the woods, Kid Flash said "So what exactly are we looking for?"

Robin replied "Anything that the China Government is covering up."

Aqualad said "Be on your guards. Who knows what we will encounter."

Superboy grunted and said "Just be thankful Raizen isn't here."

Donna looks at him and said "What's the matter with you? He has helped us in the past."

"I don't like him," Superboy said.

Knowing what it might be, Donna gave him a threatening look and said "Is it because he is stronger and better than you? Because if it is, then clearly he is a far better replacement than you."

Gritting his teeth, Superboy said "I have been in this team longer than you have."

Donna then said "At least Raizen can do stuff that you yourself can't do. And from what I have heard, you are but a copy."

In rage, Superboy said "Listen, I don't care if you are new, but if you keep it up I swear to god…!"

His voice attracted attention when a group of Chinese Military appeared out of nowhere and pointed their weapons at them. The leader walked up to them and said in a demanding way "Who are you?! And what are you doing here?!"

Donna glances at Superboy and said "Nice going."

As Superboy gave her a provoked look, Aqualad walks up to the leader and said "Listen, we are here to figure out what is going on and help out as much as we can."

The leader quickly replied in a furious way "Listen, we are fine! We will have to ask you to leave!"

Artemis then rushes up to him and said "Listen, we are willing to help you assholes with your little problem. So if you don't want us to beat you up for your attitude, then I suggest you to…"

All of a sudden, the ground started to shake. Just as the shaking stopped, the ground started to shake again, but this time it was stronger. As the soldiers were getting ready to attack, the Team look at each other and all thought 'what was going on?'. They soon got their answer when the shaking stop and something towered them with a giant shadow. When the Team looked up, their eyes widen and their jaws hit the floor. It was a GIANT humanoid machine that stood over 100 ft, it had red armor, on its right arm was a giant cannon and the head had a skull-like face while the head was covered in what looks like fire.

"Holy crap!" Kid Flash cried, "What is that?!"

The leader then yelled "Fire at will!"

When he said that, the soldiers fired their weapons at the giant machine. However, their attacks weren't affecting the machine at all. After a few seconds of firing their weapons, the machine was still standing there unharmed.

Zatanna gave them a disappointed look and said "Seriously?"

The machine then looks at the soldiers and the Team, aims the cannon at them and the barrel started to light up! In a matter of seconds, the machine fires its blast and destroys everything in its path. When the machine stopped its attack, it turns away and walked away. Unknown to the machine, when the smoke died, Rocket summoned a barrier and protect not only the Team, but also the Chinese Soldiers. When Rocket lowered her hands, her barrier disappeared and she fell to her knees exhausted.

As Aqualad helped her up, he asked her in a worried way "Are you alright?"

Rocket nodded and said "I'm fine, just tired."

"Okay, let me say this again," Kid Flash said, "What the hell was that?!"

Robin looks at Miss Martian and said "If they don't give us the answer, please feel free to enter their minds and find out what that is."

As Miss Martian nodded, she looks at the soldiers and said "We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Your choice."

When the soldiers gave the Team a frightened way, the leader said "It was supposed to protect us from any potential threats. Since the Justice League has been dealing with extraterrestrial threats, we needed to protect ourselves. That is why we started Project Guardian."

"And now your 'Guardian' is out of control," Superboy said, "And how do we stop it?"

The leader shook his head and said "We cannot, it is powered by nuclear energy."

Everyone, except for Donna, gasped and Robin said "Are you crazy?! You cannot build something with nuclear power! It is highly dangerous!"

Donna looks at the Team and said "What is nuclear power?"

Artemis replied "If it is in the wrong hands, it can destroy an entire city!"

Donna gasped, looks at the soldiers and said "Why would you do such a thing?!"

Thinking about this, Robin said "We have to contact the League. In the meantime, we have to slow that thing down."

"Have you seen that thing?!" Rocket cried, "There is no way we can slow it down!"

An idea stuck Donna's mind and said "What if we have a giant of our own to slow it down?"

Everyone looks at her and Kid Flash said "What are you talking about? We don't have a giant on our side."

Donna then points towards the sky and said "Yes, we do."

When everyone turns around, all they could see is a full moon above them. The Team finally knew what she was talking about and Artemis said "No, we are not calling him."

Aqualad said "Artemis, we do not have the power to slow down that machine. Only Raizen can help us with this."

As Artemis gave him an upset look, Aqualad turns to Robin and said "Contact the League first and tell them about the situation. And once you do that, contact Raizen and tell him about the situation."

When Robin nodded, he then made his way to the Bio-Ship. Artemis sighed and said "This is not going to end well."

Raizen was in the kitchen making himself a ten-layer sandwich, which consisted ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato and turkey. When he finished, he sighed and said "I am going to need a bigger mouth."

Just as he was about to get his sandwich, his scouter started to beep. When he first joined the team, with the help of Robin, Raizen had installed a communication device that will allow him to contact with the rest of the Team. When he got it and placed it on his left ear, Raizen said "Talk to me."

On the other end, Robin's voice said "Raizen, my good man. We have a BIG problem."

As the Team was on the Bio-Ship, they were flying towards the machine known as Guardian. When they were circling the giant machine, Miss Martian said "How long will the League get here?"

Robin replied "In about ten minutes."

Miss Martian then said "And how will Raizen get here?"

When Robin was about to reply, the Guardian saw the Bio-Ship and swung its left hand. Miss Martian flew the ship out of the way before the Guardian hit them. Evading the attack, Kid Flash looks at Miss Martian and said "Do you have any weapons on this ship?"

As Miss Martian shook her head, Aqualad said "Well better think of something, because we don't want that thing to…"

All of a sudden, the Guardian then swings its right hand, which had the cannon, and lands a clean hit to the Bio-Ship. The force of the impact sends the ship flying miles away. Trying to get a hold of the Bio-Ship, Miss Martian was doing her best while the Team was holding onto something. Just as they were crashing to the ground, the Bio-Ship was suddenly stopped. When the Team was about to ask something, the Bio-Ship was somehow being picked up. Just as someone was about to ask what was going on, the Team started to panic when they saw a giant ape with red eyes starting at them.

"Holy crap!" Artemis said, "What is that thing?!"

Donna knew who it was and said through speakers "What took you so long?"

The ape, who so happens to be Raizen, said "I made myself a little snack before I got the call! I had to finish it before I got here!"

He then looks at the Guardian and said "So that is my opponent?!"

Artemis then said through the speakers "You better not think about blowing it up!"

Raizen looks back into the ship and said "Why?!"

Superboy then replied "That thing is nuclear powered. Blow it up and we are all toast."

Raizen then sniffs the air and said "There is a small village just five miles north of here. Make you way there and evacuate the people while I deal with this thing!"

Rocket then made her way to the speaker and said "Wait a minute, how did you know that?!"

Raizen smiled and said "In my Great Ape state, my senses are enhanced! Now get going!"

As Raizen gently throws the Bio-Ship, Miss Martian gained control and made their way to the nearby village. When the Guardian looks at Raizen, it raises its cannon and fired it. The blast made contact with Raizen and released a giant explosion. When the explosion died down, Raizen was still standing unharmed.

Raizen laughed and said "Is that the best you got?!"

The Guardian then charged at him and swings its left fist. When Raizen blocks the fist, the Guardian points its cannon towards his face and fires it again. Taken by surprise, Raizen took a few steps back when the Guardian swings its cannon fist across Raizen's face. Gritting his teeth, Raizen swings his right fist across the Guardian's face, which caused the Guardian to fall to the ground.

Raizen laughed and said "What now, you pile of trash?!"

As the Guardian was getting up, Miss Martian's voice said in his voice "Raizen, how is your end?"

Raizen replied "I am well. How about you?"

Donna replied "We are currently evacuating the people."

"Is there anyway to destroy this machine without causing a nuclear explosion?" Raizen asked.

Artemis quickly replied "No!"

As Raizen grumble, Robin said "It's not like you can blow it up somewhere else."

Raizen's eyes lit up, gave off a devious smile and said "Maybe I can!"

The moment the Guardian got up, Raizen rushed up to it just as it raised its cannon at him again. However, Raizen grabs the cannon, and with ease, rips the cannon away. When Raizen threw the cannon to the ground, Raizen grabs the Guardian's shoulders, and with all of his strength, threw the Guardian towards the sky. Just as the Guardian was far away, Raizen opens his mouth and fired a blast towards the Guardian. When the blast made contact, it released a powerful explosion that shook the sky.

Raizen smiled and said "That was too easy."

Suddenly, Artemis' voice cried "What the hell just happen?!"

Raizen replied "I just destroyed that thing. All I did was just throw it into the air and blow it up. Pretty cool, huh?"

"But why?!" Superboy cried.

Raizen huffed and said "You said it yourself that there was no way to shut it down. So I did what I do best."

When Raizen looks down, he saw the military gathering up and aimed their weapons at him. Raizen grunted and said "Looks like I am out of here!"

With a mighty roar, Raizen turned the other way while the military was following him. When he walked up to the ocean, he jumps into the ocean and disappeared into the water. Just as the military were waiting for the monstrous ape to appear, it didn't.

Moments later, Raizen returned to the base relaxing before the Team arrived. When he heard footsteps, he turns his head and sees everyone walking in. Raizen teased by saying "Hey guys, how was the mission?"

The Team gave him a disappointed look and Miss Martian said "Do you have any idea what you have done?"

Raizen thought about it and said "Let's see: I came to you all for help, destroyed a rampaging machine and practically saved everyone. Does that sum it up?"

There was a brief hesitation and Superboy said "But the object of the mission was to go in and find out what was going on and inform the League."

"And that you did," Raizen said, "Mission accomplished and then I intervened and did what I had to do to protect the people from destruction."

There was a moment of silence and Rocket said "Oh snap."

Raizen stretched his arms and said "Just glad I got away before I lost control."

Confused by this, Donna said "Lost control? I thought you can control your form?"

Raizen nodded and said "I do. But when my natural instincts kick in, I can be…uncontrollable."

"Sheesh," Zatanna said, "I don't want to be near you when that happens."

As Raizen laughed, he leans back on the couch and said "Besides, that machine was nothing to what I have encountered in the past."

"So you have literally faced worse in the past?" Kid Flash asked.

Raizen nodded and said "We Saiyans are the original weapons of mass destruction. No matter what kind of weapons our enemies have, they are nothing compared to our power."

Aqualad was amazed and said "But surely you must have a weakness."

Raizen laughed and said "We do."

Now interested, Artemis said "What is it?!"

Raizen just smiled and said "Ah, but that is our secret."

As Artemis grunted, Robin said "Hey, you can trust us. We are a team."

Raizen laughed and said "Perhaps, but sooner or later."

Just then, a voice out of nowhere said "Raizen."

When everyone's heads turned, they saw Batman giving Raizen a menacing look. Raizen knew where this was going and said "Well…it was nice knowing you all."

He then got up and followed Batman away from everyone. When they were out of sight, Raizen said "I know where this is going. And let me just say, I did what I had to do to destroy that machine."

Batman shook his head and said "It's not about that."

Surprised by the answer, Raizen said "If it's not about me destroying the machine then what is?"

Batman stood there silent and replied "It's Wonder Woman."

Just as Raizen was about to say something, Batman said something that stuck Raizen in the heart. For Batman said "She's missing."
