Sorry for the long wait everyone! I had trouble with getting my classes since my previous ones were somehow dropped. I had to crash a few classes, and thankfully, I got the ones I need. And because of my busy schedule, I may be updating my chapters a bit slower than usual. So sorry for the inconvenience and I will talk to you guys later.

This chapter may be short and boring, but it will come together later on. And by the way, there is a challenge at the end of the chapter, so stick around.

Chapter 18

It has been hours since the Team has returned to Mount Justice. After the League disarmed the bomb, they got a distress signal from the Team informing them of Raizen's condition. Quickly hurrying to aid the injured Saiyan, the League took Raizen to the Watchtower where he can be properly healed.

As the Team sat on the couches, Kid Flash said "Man, I did not expect that."

"You tell me," Robin said, "Raizen is one of the toughest guys in the Team. How can cutting off his tail make him so weak?"

While the Team was wondering the same thing, Donna was just sitting by herself worrying about Raizen's condition. True that she admires his strength and will to fight, but seeing him in the state he is now, it breaks her heart. Just then, Miss Martian walks up to her and said "You alright?"

Donna looks at her and replied "Just worried."

Miss Martian gave her a supportive smile and said "He'll be alright."

As Donna smiled, the computer said "Recognize: Black Canary."

Hearing Canary's name, the Team quickly got up as Black Canary entered the room. Once they saw her, Donna asked "How is he?"

Canary sighed and said "He is fine. We manage to stabilize him before he lost any more blood."

As the Team sighed in relief, Canary said "However, he is too weak to make any movements. It will take weeks before he is fully recovered."

Superboy then said "What I don't get is how Sinestro manage to cut Raizen's tail? I mean, the guy is indestructible. How is that possible?"

Canary replied "After we finished with the surgery, he told us of his tail. For instance, it is his greatest weakness."

Once she said that, the Team just gasped in surprise. To think that Raizen's tail was his weakness this whole time. Aqualad said "But…how is that possible?"

"We took some X-rays near Raizen's injury," Canary said, "As it turns out, his tail is connected to his spinal cord. That is how he was able to move it so freely. He told us if someone was to grab his tail or does anything to it, it disrupts his nerves system and causes him to stiffen up, making him an open target. Sadly, since Sinestro cut off the whole tail, we had to remove what was left of his tail."

"Ouch," Rocket said, "He must have been on a lot of morphing for that."

"Trust me," Canary said, "We had to get Superman and Captain Marvel to pin him down to give him that."

The Team's eyes just widen when she said that. To think that it took Superman and Captain Marvel to hold Raizen down. It was downright scary for that matter. Wanting to see Raizen, Donna said "Can we see him?"

Canary shook her head and said "He is resting right now. Maybe tomorrow when he is awake."

As the Team nodded, they all returned to their rooms and fell asleep. However, Donna couldn't help but worry about Raizen. She just hoped he is alright. And after that, she fell back to sleep.

New Orleans (Right after the battle)…

After the Team left on the Bio-Ship, the battleground was silent. Darkness has covered the land after the fierce battle that just occurred. Lying on the ground was Raizen's tail with a little blood on it. Out of nowhere, a figure appeared and analyzed the tail. The figure was slightly hunchback and was wearing a black armor that covered it's body and the mask almost looks demonic. Picking up the tail from the ground, the figure crackled before taking out a cube. Pressing a button, the figure threw the cube a few feet in front of them and it exploded. After is exploded, it turned into a portal with flaming rings. The figure then jumps into the portal just as it disappeared into thin air.

(A/N: This part will be revealed towards the end of the story)

"Augh," Raizen whined as his body was sore.

It has been a few days since his surgery, and surprisingly, Raizen was healing faster than the average human. But still, he still needed to rest for a few days and a few days off of the Team until he is fully healed. Returning to Mount Justice, Raizen arrived with Donna holding him on his right side while Superboy on the other. Once they entered, they led him to the living room and carefully seated him on one of the couches. However, their grips slipped and Raizen landed hard on the seat.

Raizen whined and said "Ow! That hurts!"

Superboy replied "Suck it up. We have been though worse."

"I have my tail cut off!" Raizen yelled, "It was supposed to represent a Saiyan's pride! Without it, I cannot transform into my Great Ape Form!"

"Jeez," Superboy said, "And you say I have anger issues."

At that moment, Donna punched Superboy's shoulder and said "Can't you see he is in pain?"

Just then, Miss Martian and Zatanna came in and saw Raizen. In joy, Miss Martian said "Raizen, you're here!"

Raizen moaned and said "Hey, Megan."

"Aw," Zatanna said, "Still in pain?"

"Yeah," Raizen said, "Where are the others?"

Miss Martian replied "Wally and Artemis are on a date, Aqualad went to Atlantis, Robin is with Batman and Rocket is out."

Zatanna said "Well, it is a day off, so we should go out."

Uncertain, Donna said "What about Raizen?"

Raizen just shrugs and said "You guys go, I'll be fine."

Everyone looks at him and Superboy said "Are you sure?"

Raizen nodded and said "Canary said she was going to stop by to give me some sort of workout therapy."

"If you say so then," Zatanna said, "Let's go to Metropolis."

Once everyone agreed, as Raizen sat back, Donna said "We'll be back before you know it."

She then did something that surprised everyone. Donna leans towards Raizen's cheek and gives him a quick kiss. Surprised by this, when Raizen looks at Donna, she was already heading for her room. Everyone just stood there for a moment and Superboy said "What was that about?"

After getting dressed in their civilian clothes; Zatanna, Donna, Miss Martian and Superboy left the cave. Waiting for Canary, Raizen rested on the couch until he heard footsteps behind him. Looking back, Raizen saw Canary walking towards him.

When she saw him, she asked "How are you feeling?"

Raizen replied "Still hurts."

"Well come on," Canary said, "Let's do a few yoga exercises to help you out a bit."

For the next hour, Raizen stretched out his body. After the session was over, Raizen's body was still sore, but his injury was subduing a bit. Getting some water, Raizen sat back down and Canary said "I am impressed that you recovered real quick."

Raizen replied "We Saiyans have improved healing factor. If we are injured in battle, our bodies heal itself and we become stronger."

"So," Canary said, "The greater the injury, the stronger you become?"

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," Raizen said.

"And yet your tail got cut off," Canary said.

Raizen sheepishly rubs his head and said "Yeah…I may have skipped that part of my training."

As the two of them laughed, Raizen remembered something and said "Hey Canary, can I ask you something?"

When Canary nodded, Raizen said "You remember that mission when me and Superboy fought Maxima?"

"You mean your fiancée?" Canary asked with a smirk on her face.

"Seriously?" Raizen asked, "Anyways, before she arrived, Superboy said something about getting Miss Martian a gift for Christmas. Just what is it about?"

Canary sat down and said "Well, there are a lot of tradition and people celebrating Christmas. But in general, it is a time were friends and families come together to celebrate the joyous day of the year."

As Raizen raised an eyebrow, Canary said "It's difficult to explain since you aren't from around here, but the main concept you are wondering is people exchanging gifts for each other. Now I know you're wondering what is the point. The point is not the gift, but what that gift means to the person you are giving it to."

Thinking about it, Raizen said "So…Superboy is planning to get something for Megan…because…"

Canary then said "Well, since he loves Megan, he wants to get her something that is special to her."

"Huh," Raizen said, "Giving something special to someone as a gift. Never heard of that."

"You don't celebrate anything similar to Christmas?" Canary asked.

Raizen shook his head and said "No, my people don't celebrate that many holidays."

"That sucks," Canary said, "You race is very harsh."

"Tell me about," Raizen said.

Canary then thought about it and said "You know, Christmas is only a few weeks away. You should get your team some gifts."

"What?" Raizen asked, "Why should I? Most of them still hate me."

"Not true," Canary said, "They all look up to you. They trust their lives to you because you always get them out of situation they can't handle. Plus you put your life on the line to ensure they make it back alive. That's very rare for someone like you to do that. And not only that, you have changed some much when you are with the Team since you joined."

Now interested, Raizen said "How so?"

Canary replied "When I first laid my eyes on you, you were this cocky, stubborn individual who would rather work alone and not care about others. But once you got to know the Team, you become this protector to them. You might not now it, but you changed…in a good way. You have been a real friend to them."

Raizen didn't know what to say. He hasn't really thought about him changing that way. He has always been the way he is now. But for someone like Canary to say he has changed for the good, it struck him. Canary then got up and said "Speaking of which, I need to get Oliver a gift."

"Oliver?" Raizen asked.

"Green Arrow," Canary said, "He tries to find me something, but we always end up going somewhere nice. But I need to spend time with my family before we head out. They are important after all."

With that, Canary heads towards the Zeta-Tube and teleports to the Watchtower. Once she left, Raizen begins to think about what Canary said. Thinking about what Canary said about what the concept of Christmas was, Raizen was thinking about it. He could get gifts to the Team, but he didn't know what to get. But then he starts to think about Donna and the kiss she gave him. Raizen doesn't know why, but he starts to think how he first met her and the truth about Donna's past. It must be sad to see her not knowing her…

Then, an idea came in mind. But Raizen will have to wait later on.

It was close to 3 in the afternoon when Robin showed up. After a long day helping Batman in Gotham, Robin was heading towards his room in Mount Justice until he saw Raizen walking towards him.

"Hey man," Robin said, "How are you feeling?"

Raizen replied "I am feeling better a bit. But enough of that, can I ask a favor?"

Curious, Robin asked "What is it?"

Raizen looks around and said "You know about Donna's past right?"

Robin nodded and said "Yeah, after Donna and Wonder Woman had that fight, she did tell us about her being born in our world. Why?"

"Well," Raizen said, "I may need you to…find someone."

Now confused, Robin said "I am confused. What does this has to do with Donna?"

Raizen rubs his head and replied "You see, Christmas is coming up and I just learn the basics of it. As I learned that it is a time to spend time with friends and family, I know that we are all going to spend time together. But for those who have families, I know you all will spend some time with them. I know I don't have any family since I am not from this universe, but for people like Donna…"

Now understanding, Robin said "I get it. So you want me to find Donna's biological family?"

Raizen nodded and said "And before it is Christmas, I want to take her to see her birth family."

Uncertain, Raizen said "But the way Donna said it, her biological mother must have been in a serious trouble."

"But what about the rest of her family?" Raizen asked, "Surely the rest of them are worried about her and must have put up some signs for missing people. Or back then, a missing infant."

Now realizing, Robin said "Of course! Because Donna was a baby back then, the Amber Alert should have been active and notifies the immediate family for the information!"

Raizen then said "And since Donna was located in Colorado, you can narrow your search."

As Robin thought about it, Raizen said "I will owe you big time for this."

Robin smiled and said "Don't worry man, I got your back."

He then said "But remember, don't get your hopes up whatever I find. If Donna's parents are dead…then you would have to tell her."

Raizen nodded and said "Right, thanks for this."

Robin smacks his shoulder and said "Hey, if it is to impress Donna then what are friends for?"

At that moment, each member of the Team started to enter the base. When Kid Flash saw Raizen, he said "Sup, Raisin Bran. How the…"

Before he could finish, Raizen stomp on Kid Flash's left leg, causing him to yell in pain. As he grabbed his hurt leg, Miss Martian said "That's what you get for messing with him."

Kid Flash couldn't believe that Miss Martian was defending Raizen. Robin laughed and said "Come on guys. Let's make ourselves something."

When everyone was heading to the kitchen, Robin looks at Raizen and said "Don't worry, I got it."

As Raizen nodded, when Robin walks away, Donna walked behind Raizen said "What was that about?"

Thinking of an excuse, Raizen said "I was just asking for a favor."

Curious, Donna said "What kind of favor?"

Raizen smiles at her and said "Kind of private."

Donna rolls her eyes and said "Come on, we should help them out before they make a mess."

Once she was in the kitchen with the Team, Raizen looks at them and smiles. Maybe Canary was right, not only was this him team, but each of them was his friend. He didn't really have any friends back at Planet Vegeta since he was always sent to missions. And even when he is put on a team, they just go in and complete the mission. But being with the Team and call him a friend, that was something. Sure some of them mess around with him but…

Raizen then said to himself "That's what friends are for."

Touching chapter? Well, Raizen is still recovering. Even though he is a Saiyan, they still technically feel pain.

And now challenge time! For the next couple of chapters, I am going to do a mini-arc for the story. This arc will be based off a DC game that was made recently and is popular (in my view). That being said, the first viewer to name that game will have a shoutout in the next chapter! With that, let the challenge begin!
