Hello everyone! Well, here it is, the next chapter of my story! Sorry in advance that this chapter is short. It is mostly focus on Raizen telling his backstory. But hopefully, the next chapter will be longer. Hopefully. But here is some good news: if you are following me, then you all know that I have published a new story. It's a crossover of Kingdom Hearts and Mortal Kombat. Yes, I am a fan of Kingdom Hearts and it is my version of Kingdom Hearts III. If you all want a story to read when this is all over, you can go and read that. Anyways, let us begin!

Chapter 29

Almost an hour after Raizen's battle against Darkseid, everyone returned to the Watchtower and had everyone checked for any injuries. Luckily, everyone just had minor scratches and bruises. But aside from that, they were all very lucky to be alive. A fight against Darkseid would have led to massive destruction. But this time, there weren't any casualties. After waiting, the Team and the Justice League all were sitting down in the hall room where everyone was waiting for Batman. Kid Flash then looks at Raizen and said "Dude, that was epic! You slaughtered Darkseid and you sent him back to his world before he self-destructed! That should go into the records right there!"

"Yeah!" Robin said, "And how did your hair turn yellow and all of that?"

Raizen looks at him and replied "There is a legend among my people that a great warrior will emerge. A Saiyan of pure heart will rise and will gain power beyond imagination. We refer to this warrior as The Legendary Super Saiyan. Said to be way powerful than the Great Ape Form."

Everyone whistled and Wonder Woman said "Then you fulfilled that legend. You are both a great warrior and have a pure heart. I say you are worthy."

Donna smiled when she heard Wonder Woman say that. But when she looked at Raizen, Donna saw his face saddened and depressed. As her face fell, Donna saw Raizen shaking his head and said "No…I'm not…"

Surprised by his answer, everyone was shocked. Superman then said "What do you mean? You saved the planet from destruction, Raizen."

"Yeah," Green Arrow said, "You're a real hero."

"No…" Raizen said, "I'm not a hero…I'm…I'm a monster."

When they all heard Raizen said that, they were all confused and Artemis said "Monster? What do you mean?"

Before Raizen was going to reply, Batman walked into the room and said "I've contacted Orion. He told me that when New Genesis sent a fleet to Apokolips, they found the planet half destroyed. They say they don't know what happened, but they scanned the planet and found no traces of Darkseid anywhere."

He then turns to Raizen and said "I have to say, you were smart back there. Though you should of warn us about the whole DNA malfunction before."

As Raizen sighed, he said "What would you have done if I told you?"

Batman stood there until he said "Probably the same thing you did."

He then patted on his back and said "Well…you have my thanks. All of our thanks. Without your quick thinking, I don't think none of us would be here. You really saved the day."

Surprised by this, Robin looks at everyone and said "Did…Did Batman just thanked Raizen?"

"I guess miracles do happen," Hal Jordan said, "Never would see the day Batman thank someone."

"Don't," Raizen said.

Everyone looks at him and Rocket said "Why are you so down? Can't you see you saved the day?"

"I know," Raizen said, "But…"

Seeing that Raizen is not himself, Black Canary asked "Raizen…what's wrong?"

When Raizen got up, he walks to the window showing Earth, he stands in front of it and said "Fighting Darkseid the first time…he said some things that brought a lot of bad memories."

Superman got up, walked up to him and said "Don't take it too hard, Raizen. He likes to play mind games with other people. He says things to throw you off so that he can have the upper hand. Don't take it hard."

Raizen sighed sadly and said "He…He knew."

Confused, Superman said "Knew what?"

Once Superman said that, Raizen looks down at his hands with sadness in his eyes. He swallowed a lump in his throat and said "He knew…He knew that I…spilled…innocent blood…with these hands."

When Raizen said that, everyone's hearts fell. Now worried, Donna asked "What…What do you mean?"

Raizen looks at them, and that is when they were in the shock of their lives. Raizen, who was one of the strongest person they have meet in their lives, was on the verge of tears. Trying to get a hold of himself, Raizen manage to say "I lied…about my race. Claiming to be one of the most prideful warriors in my galaxy. We…We were not warriors I told you to be. We…We were mercenaries."

Everyone gasped at what Raizen said as he continues by saying "See…long ago, my race were fighters, always looking for a fight. We lacked any technology, so our life styles were primitive. We were introduced to technology when my world was visited by an empire. It was ruled by a vicious clan that only desire is the rule over the galaxy. They called themselves the Cold Empire. Seeing what we can do and the abilities we have, the Cold Empire offered us a deal: if we work for them, then they would give us the means to allow us to travel to others worlds and allow us to spread our name. So…the Saiyans agreed. Once the Cold Empire gave my people the means to travel, the empire sent my people to other worlds."

Deciding to speak, Superboy asked "And…by that…you mean?"

Raizen then said "I mean…the Cold Empire ordered the Saiyans to…claim a planet."

"Claim a planet?" Martian Manhunter asked, "Why claim a planet?"

"To spread power," John Stewart said, "Like a king taking over lands."

Curious, Aquaman asked "Claiming a planet? But…what if those planets were inhabited?"

When Aquaman asked that, Raizen looks down in shame. Might knowing the answer, Batman asked "Raizen…what did the Saiyans do?"

Raizen grips his fists and replied "We…exterminate them."

Everyone gasped in horror and cried "What?!"

"Why would your people do that?!" Hawkwoman asked in shock, "Why slaughter innocent people?!"

When Wonder Woman looked at his face, she remembered something he told her when they first met and said "Your warrior code. It wasn't a question in orders, your people were loyal to this empire."

Raizen nodded and said "Over the years, my people have invaded planet after planet to spread our name and increase our strength. We claimed thousands of planets for the Cold Empire. Each one…exterminating it's inhabitants."

Not wanting to ask, but Donna wanted to know and said "And…how many planets…have you…invaded?"

Raizen sighed in sadness and said "More than…a hundred."

Everyone gasped and Miss Martian said "Why would you kill innocent lives?!"

"I…I didn't know at it at the time," Raizen said, "I was still young and naïve. I…I thought I was doing it to gain honor as a Saiyan. And…as an Elite Warrior, I…I actually led armies to planets to take over. I thought it would bring honor as a warrior. But…But I was wrong…"

After a moment of silence, Flash asked "So…where were you going before you came to Earth?"

Raizen loosen his hands and said "I…I was running away."

Everyone was confused as Captain Marvel asked "What happened?"

Raizen took a deep breath and said "My last mission was to take over a planet called Trenzalore. We arrived there and I lead my soldiers to exterminate life there. We arrived at a village and we started to kill everyone there. I…I walked into a house and I killed the male living there. And when I was about to leave…I saw a woman…holding her child close to her. When I looked into her eyes, I saw…fear. Fear that I would kill her and her child. When she looked at me, she said one word…"

He pointed at his chest and said "One word…that stuck my heart."

"And…"Canary asked, "What word was that?"

Raizen looks down and said "Monster."

As everyone's heart sadden, Raizen then said "After that incident, I…I began to rethink my actions and the deeds I've done. And…I was starting to believe that everything I did…was not the way of the warrior I was raised to be. And…"

Now knowing where he was going at, Wonder Woman said "You were planning on leaving your people."

As Raizen nodded, Aqualad asked "Then wouldn't your people know you ran away?"

Wonder Woman then asked "And when we first met, you were very surprised when I told you there were no Saiyans in this universe."

Raizen shook his head and said "I lied about that too."

"Lied?" Zatanna asked, "Why?"

Raizen then looked out the window, stood there for a long time before saying "I…am not only a Saiyan. But…I am, as we speak, the last one."

Everyone was surprised at this. Raizen's race was one of the most powerful warriors as he claimed them to be. How did they all die? Batman then asked "What happened?"

Raizen took a deep breath and said "The Cold Empire."

He looks at them and said "They believe that the Saiyans are growing too strong for them to handle and thought we were going to overthrow them. So…they arrived at my planet and…destroyed it along with every Saiyan in it."

Everyone gasped in sadness when Raizen said that. The Cold Empire used them to spread their power, and when they had enough, they killed them all. Raizen looks down and said "I guess…it was our punishment for killing innocent lives."

"Wait," Kid Flash said, "Then…how did you survive?"

Raizen replied "Before our planet was destroyed, a Saiyan named Bardock returned from his mission. He was bloody, his armor was almost destroyed and he was in rage. He told everyone that the Cold Empire sent a squad to eliminate Bardock and his squad. He also claimed that Frieza, one of the Cold Empire members, was coming to my planet to destroy it. Everyone laughed at him, but…I had the feeling he was telling the truth. I met up with him and he told me everything. I…I rushed home to warn my family, but my parents refused to believe me. And since I couldn't bring my sister with me, mostly because my mom thought I was crazy and refused to let my sister come with me, I…I left alone. I got onto the nearest space pod and left."

As he placed a hand on the window, he then said "And the moment I left my planet, that was when Frieza arrived and…and destroyed my planet. My friends…my family…and my home…vanished in a blink of an eye. And in that moment…I knew…I was the last of my kind."

Everyone now felt bad for Raizen. He was raised to be a warrior by claiming planets and killing everyone in it for the Cold Empire. And just as Raizen was becoming the best, one little incident changes everything for him.

Wonder Woman then said "That's why you wanted to join us. You didn't want to find a challenge, you wanted to find redemption."

"You want to redeem your actions," Batman said.

Raizen nodded and said "Yeah."

"So," Kid Flash said, "That whole…saying the Saiyans being honorable warriors?"

Raizen then said "Since I am the last of the Saiyans, I didn't want them to be remembered as mercenaries. True that what we did things that are horrific, but we are warriors to the heart. I wanted the Saiyans to be remembered as honorable warriors. But…I guess I was wrong."

He then looks at everyone and said "And now you all know the truth."

When he looked at their faces, they had hurt expressions on each of their faces. Raizen sighed sadly and said "I…I'll understand if none of you want me around anymore. Just…Just say the word and I'll take my ship…and leave your planet."

After a moment of silence, Donna walks up to him and hugs him tight. As she was hugging him, Donna said "I…I know you did terrible things in the past. But…But are trying to make up for it but helping us."

Superman sighed and said "I know what it's like to be the last of your kind. And despite what your race has done, I know that you are trying to do the right thing."

"And besides," Wonder Woman said, "You said that a true warrior with a pure heart can turn into this Legendary Super Saiyan. And you proved it by turning into one. I say you are on your path to redemption."

"Yeah," Robin said, "I say you stay here."

As everyone agreed one by one, they all turned to Batman. After a moment of silence, Batman said "I know it's not hard letting your past go, but if you believe that you can be redeemed, then…you can stay."

The Team cheered as they gave Raizen a group hug. In joy, Raizen smiled and said "Thank you all."

Superman nodded and said "You make your own path, Raizen. Don't let anyone else say otherwise."

Raizen smiled more as tears of joy ran down his face. For once in his life, he truly found a place where he can belong. He vowed, from there on, he will protect his new friends and his new home from any danger. Being the last of the Saiyans, Raizen will make the most of it.

I hope you all like this touchy chapter. I figure to have Raizen tell everyone the truth about the Saiyans and them accepting him no matter what. I thought this would be a good way for Raizen to end his internal struggles as a Saiyan. Anyways, I hope you all like this chapter. Next time, the last chapter! Until then, please review!
