Fell For Her Song
Chapter 5: No?
Prince Gumball awoke to Bonnibel peering down at him.
Princess Bubblegum gasped. "He is awakening!" Bubblegum tackled Gumball in a hug. He winced but hugged her back.
"I'm so sorry! I shouldn't have done that!" Bubblgum apologized quickly after realizing that it must have hurt when she hugged him tightly.
"You're fine, PB. It didn't hurt that bad," Gumball responded sincerely.
Marceline stayed in the shadows as she watched everyone greet Prince Gumball in awakening. All of her friends and his friends had come over to the castle's ER. She only watched patiently until everybody had their chance.
Eventually, Gumball told everyone that he was feeling tired and that he would like to rest but couldn't get up so he stayed in the ER to rest. Everyone bid him farewell, totally oblivious to Marceline's presence.
Gumball, finally alone, turned and turned in the hospital bed. Eventually he sat up and looked around until he landed his eyes on Marceline and squinted. He couldn't tell if Marceline was really there. She rolled her eyes and came out of the shadows.
"Hey, Gummy," Marceline greeted emotionless.
"What do you want?" Gumball asked without greeting.
"Bubblegum wants it. But I guess I kinda do too... Bubblegum would like me to like to apologize to you. But... I think it's you who should be apologizing to me," Marceline stated cockily.
Gumball widened his eyes in disbelief. "Ha! Me apologize? Why? I didn't bruise you like an apple!"
"Idiot, the term's 'Bruise you like a banana.'"
"Well bananas aren't red. Like what you eat."
"Yeah, but you still got it wrong."
"Just apologize!"
"Y'know, I don't like your attitude. Maybe I won't." Marceline turned and starting marching towards the door, when she stopped suddenly.
"Unless... You apologize to me first!" Marceline pointed out cockily.
"What do I need to apologize for?" Gumball asked frustrated and annoyed. Marceline spun around and began walking back to the bed.
"I don't know... violating me?"
"I did not violate you!"
"Well, then it was held hostage in my own room!" Marceline topped his reasoning.
"But Marceline!"
"Yes?"
"If I was violating you, you would be totally lying if you didn't enjoy it," Gumball smiled, seeing Marceline widen her eyes in embarrassment gave him a sense of triumph for once.
"That is gross, disturbing-"
"Disturbingly fantastic!"
"I will slap the living daylights out of you!" Marceline threatened.
"Really, Marceline? Hitting a man you've already damaged? Are you really that type of person?"
"Ha! Barely a man, I'd say!"
"How dare you! I am the Prince!"
"And I'm the queen! I order you to apologize to me... now," Marceline won the fight. Gumball pouted.
"Sorry."
"Sorry for what?" Marceline teasingly put her hand to her ear.
"Sorry for Marshall Lee. You're his sister! That poor guy!" Marceline narrowed her eyes at him and glared. "Apologize you rodent! I will suck all of the pink out of all your clothes!"
"Ugh. Fine. I'm sorry for making your dreams come true and violating you," Gumball said. He couldn't get enough of playing with Marceline and watch her blush. But when Marceline began hissing he made a real apology. He grabbed Marceline's hand and kissed her knuckles.
"Marceline. I am sorry though. For everything. I just wanted to get to know you a little bit better and maybe we could become closer... Maybe even more than friends?" Gumball was sincere and continued to hold Marceline's hand.
Marceline was holding her breath this whole time. When she noticed that they were still holding hands she let out her breath and ripped her hand away.
"And I'm sorry that... that can never happen." Marceline stared into Gumball's eyes for only seconds before she felt tears arise and she bolted out of the room.
"Marceline!"
It's only been two days and Marceline has cried more than she had in three hundred years. She felt the foreign water burn her cheeks as she flew to her room and locked the door. It wasn't even dinner time yet!
Gumball sat alone in his ER room. He tried to think over, why not? Why couldn't they become at least friends?
"Bonnibel!" Gumball cried helpless. "Bonnibel! Bonnibel! Banana Guards! Guards! Bonnibel!" He needed someone to get Bonni for help.
"Yes? Yes? What is it, Gumball?" Bubblegum frantically asked her hysterical friend.
"I must speak with you in private!" Gumball demanded.
Bubblegum nodded and sat at the foot of Gumball's bed. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"I think I like Marceline. But she keeps shutting me out! And then I keep on hurting her and she runs away again!" Gumball was frantic and quite embarrassed at telling her that he liked her best friend.
"Ooh. I know why she's doing that, Bubba! It's not that she doesn't like you, because I bet my bubbles that she likes you back, it's because she's only had one boyfriend before! She had to break up with him because they got into this big fight and he destroyed her favorite plush toy. Yeah. Her heart got seriously dumped. I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to have that happen again, Bubba. Maybe if Marshall gives her a proper talk, she'll understand your side of this."
Gumball nodded, calming down slightly.
"I want to leave this bed! I want to talk to her!" Gumball knew Marshall would only side with Marceline.
Marshall had left after Marceline had. He followed her all the way into his cave and stopped. He watched Marceline rip her hat and gloves off and stomp her way inside. He followed quickly. Putting away his big umbrella and stopped Marceline.
"What are you doing?" Marshall asked, freezing Marceline who had begun to go up stairs.
"I'm staying with you from now on, dear brother," Marceline replied nonchalantly, "But first I have to make sure its a good place to stay. I am staying here for a while, bro." Marceline proceeded to float up the ladder way and into Marshall's bedroom.
"Marceline, stop! That's my private place!" Marshall cried.
"Too bad, sucker!"
"You're a sucker, too..." Marshall mumbled. He grabbed Marceline's shoulders and they began to wrestle. A few minutes later, they heard footsteps outside the house. They both froze and their ears twitched at the sound. They released each from their grips, and headed to peek out of the window, careful not to get hit by sunshine. Together, they spotted Cake and Fionna approaching calmly.
"Hehehe... I'm thinking on pranking that one!" Marceline pointed at the white cat she had met the night before. She was thinking it would sort of a revenge prank for ruining her little, alone time in the Palace Garden. But, Marshall tsk'ed at his sister.
"No, no, Marceline. That's Cake. She's too easy! You take Fionna! I want to see how good you really are. Be warned, though," Marshall began floating down the ladder as he continued to talk and Marceline followed, "Fionna's pretty hard to get to."
Marceline laughed. "For you maybe. I don't doubt you suck! But that's probably because you haven't learned from the master!" Marceline marched right up to the couch and squeezed in behind it and winked at Marshall Lee. He rolled his eyes and went for the door.
He awaited the knock. The second that Cake's tiny paws were about to hit the door, Marshall Lee ripped open the doorway and hissed in Cake's face, Fionna watched without surprise, but smiled in greeting.
"Hey, you," Fionna said walking in with Cake cowering in her backpack. Marshall Lee chuckled in response. "Why you here, Fionna?"
"Well, I wanted to talk about Gumball's friends and your sister." Fionna smiled nervously.
"What about my sister?" Marshall asked, defensively.
"She seems real cool. I mean, she scared Cake last night. But she made Gumball blush a lot..." Fionna crinkled her eyebrows, maybe a little jealous. Marceline had come out of nowhere and was making Gumball blush while Fionna had known Gumball for such a long time and had only made him blush a few times, ever!
"What are you talking about, Fi?"
"I think he likes her..." Fionna wiggled her eyebrows and bit her lips deviously. Marshall laughed nervously, Marceline was listening to this whole conversation and could practically hear Marceline hissing.
"What are saying, Fi? You going to try to play Match-Maker?" Marshall teased playfully.
"Maybe. Who knows?" Fionna shuffled her feet before walking over to the couch and sitting down.
Marceline smiled. Finally. Marceline slithered from her spot behind the couch and popped her head out and stared down Fionna's bunny hat. She delicately grabbed Fionna's bunny ears and slid the hat right off her head before dashing back behind the couch.
"Hey! Marshall, give me my hat back!" Fionna cried at Marshall who was currently in the kitchen, putting away groceries.
"I don't have it!" Marshall called back. Fionna began to search around for it while her blonde hair continued to fall around her shoulders.
Marceline hissed behind Fionna's shoulders, and Fi zipped around. Fi could feel Cake quaking in her backpack. She pulled out her crystal sword and went into a defensive position.
"Come out you... you hat thief!" Fionna searched around the room.
Fionna heard hissing again and turned toward the sound, nothing.
Hissing again, nothing.
Hissing again...
Fionna fell backwards and shrieked as Marceline pushed Fionna down and snarled; revealing her sharp teeth.
"Get back!" Fionna swung her sword too late at Marceline. Marceline flew away laughing at Fionna with the hat on her head.
"That's. My. Hat! Rrrrrrhh!" Fionna pounced onto Marceline and pulled her down from the ceiling.
"You girls play nicely, okay?" Marshall playfully said, floating back into the room and leaning on the wall.
Marceline and Fionna continued to wrestle before finally, Marceline won. She took the hat off, laughing, and dropped it on the floor in front of Fionna.
"Thanks," Fionna said sarcastically. She snatched it off the floor and put it back on her head.
"No, Fionna. Thank you! That was fun!" Marceline dusted herself off and smiled with her hands on her hips. "Y'know I didn't expect that from a girl who wore such a puffy dress last night."
"Erm... Thanks? You're welcome? Both... Wait, did you hear all of that? All of what I just said about Gumball liking you!" Fionna inhaled nervously.
"Yeah. But I knew that already... I don't exactly want that to happen, you can tell that to him if you want. It's not like he'd listen to me anyway..." Marceline grew silent as she rubbed her arm and flew into her brother's room. She flopped onto his bed, which was nothing like the one she had at home, and thought how horribly she would like for them to be together... but no. She was too afraid of being hurt again. If anyone saw her all mushy and happy- she didn't want to think about. Also if they saw her bursting into tears. No one has... well except Gumball so far... And maybe Bubblegum. But that's , and Finn and Jake. Ugh. Marceline what's wrong with you? You're becoming this sicko! Were you like this before you came to that part of Ooo? Nooo! Pull yourself together! Marceline slapped herself in the face and closed her eyes, feeling a song coming on. She left her bass downstairs! Great...
Fionna shook her head in confusion and went over to attend to Cake who was still traumatized from being so close to a vampire in attack.
"Well that happened..." Fionna said, holding Cake on the couch.
"Yeah, well. That's Marceline, for ya. I mean I barely know her myself but I don't care. I will eventually, right?" Marshall blabbered.
"Right... So! You and Gumball's sister, eh? What's her name? GumGum?" Fionna teased Marshall.
"Her name is Princess Bubblegum! And she's hot! So, yeah. I guess..."
"Aw! That's great! Well, if you'll excuse me, Queen Marceline would like me to deliver a message to the hard-headed Pink Ball." Fionna smiled and left with Cake in her arms and her backpack slinging from her shoulders.
Marshall sighed and closed the door. Suddenly, he heard music playing from his room upstairs. Curiously, he floated up there and found Marceline floating around his room and singing. So she has an axe bass, too, huh? Marshall left her to do that and left for the castle, he felt a prank coming on...
Ugh, I just never feel satisfied with these chapters, but you should tell me what you think of them anyways! XP
