THIRD PERSON POV

Katniss and Gale were walking in the woods talking about the Games.

"Who do you think will picked this year?" Gale asked.

"I don't know, but I just pray it isn't Prim." Katniss replied.

They both heard someone coming. They hid behind a bush and peeked through to see who it was.

As the person walked close Gale recognized them."Damn Kim. Why didn't you say it was you? We thought you were a peacekeeper!" Gale yelled.

"Oh please," Kim laughed. "They're too scared to come out this far," she continued.. Kim had black hair that went a little past her waist. Her eyes were black as the coal their district mined for. She was a fit person and good with a bow.

Katniss was just shaking her head at both of them. "you two are so childish." Kim just laughed and told them that the reaping was going to start in a two hour. Gale and Katniss started walking back but katniss turned around and said "Aren't you coming with us?". Kim just shook her head. Katniss nodded and turned back around to leave. Kim called out "Katniss.." Katniss Turned around again and looked at her. "whatever happens don't worry i'll have your back." Kim continued.

Kim's POV

After they left, I sat down on the edge of the cliff. I wondered what will happen at the reaping today. My name will be in the reaping 56 times. And it was safe to say that I was worried. If I get called to the games, there's a good chance I'll die in the first few minutes. The reaping will start soon. i got up and walked out of the woods and crawled under the fence. i have to run home. if i didn't i wouldn't have time to get ready. As i walked up to the my family's house i could already hear the the yelling and screaming that came from inside.

i walked inside and ran past my mother and father to my room and closed the door. i always hated it when they were fighting.

I made myself a warm bath and scrubbed myself until I was clean.. Once I got out, I pulled on a light blue dress. After a minute, I decided to let my hair stay down. There was really no point in putting my hair up. I was scared to hell, but at the same time i was more scared for Katniss and her Sister. As i walked to the reaping i saw Katniss and Prim. I waved them but didn't say anything. I ran into Gale afterwards. I could see the fear in his eyes, and I knew he could see the fear in mine.

We all got lined up and waited. I saw Effie she always looked like a freak but at the same time she looked good. She walked up to the microphone.

THIRD PERSON POV

"Happy Hunger Games everyone" Effie said. After the short clip that they watch every year. Effie walked back to the microphone. "And now to pick the tributes. Ladies first…" Effie walked over to the bowl and placed her hand in. She dug a little deeper then other times. She picked out the paper and walked back to the microphone. "Well let's see who it is…" Effie opened the paper and said "Primrose Everdeen!" Prim just stood there. "come up here dear" Effie said. Prim started walking up to Effie but Katniss Freaked out yelled "I volunteer as Tribute!" She pushed the peacekeepers out of the way. "No Katniss" Prim yelled. Katniss told Prim to go back to their mother. Gale had to carry her to their mother.

Katniss walked up on the Stage and stood there. Kim was staring blankly at what just happened. "No…" Kim whispered. Kim ran up to the stage pushing all the peacekeepers who tried to stop. She hugged and whispered in her ear. "I'm Sorry…"

KATNISS' POV

Kim whispered to me "I'm Sorry.." Why was she Sorry. Kim and I have always been close with each other. I remember the day we became friends.

She also sat in the corner at school and never really talked to anybody. She was more of a wallflower. Everyone was mean to her but she never stood up for herself she sat there and listened to what they were saying. No one ever noticed but i did. She would come into School with bruises on her. One day After school i went up to her and talked her into following me in the woods. For the first time i saw her smile. After that she would talk to me. it was mostly small talk. but after some time she bloomed and talked to me. I always took her to woods with me i even taught her how to use a bow. She also talked to Gale since Gale was always in the woods with us. Gale was Like a big brother to her. We were always so close. Together…

So why was she saying she was sorry?

THIRD PERSON POV

Kim stepped away from Katniss and said flatly to Effie. "I volunteer as Tribute…" Effie Smiled. Katniss was taken off the stage. Kim stood there waiting to see who she would train, fight, and die with. Effie smiled. "Well, well, well, What a day it's been now for the boys…" Effie walks over to Bowl and picks up a piece of paper. Effie walked back to the Mic. "And the boy will be...Peeta Mellark…" Peeta walked up to the stage and stood next Kim. Peacekeepers took them inside the Justice Building.

Kim sat in the room. She knew her family wouldn't say goodbye to her. "Better off now they will have more to eat" Kim thought. Katniss walked into the room and hugged Kim. "Why did you do that?" Katniss Asked. "I told you i would have your back Katniss...besides your family needs you...mine doesn't…" Kim said looking away from Katniss. "I need you, Gale needs you, Prim needs you...Kim…" Katniss was saying. "Stop Katniss…" Kim said.

A Peacekeeper took Katniss out of the room. After Katniss Left Gale walked in to the room. "I'm not happy that you're doing this but i'm not going to stop you." Gale pulled Kim into a hug and kissed the top of her head. "i have something for you…" Gale pulled away took a pin out of his pocket. "I got it at the Hub...i t-thought that you would like it." Gale said rubbing the back of his head as he handed it to kim. "Thank you Gale" Kim said just above a whisper. Kim pulled Gale in for another hug. "I love you Kim…." Gale whispered in her ear. Before she could say anything a Peacekeeper came in and pulled them apart. "I love you too…" Kim Whispered to herself.

~TIME SKIP~ (Kim and Peeta getting on the train)

Peeta and kim walked onto the train and sat down. Effie was going on about how nicely they will get treated and how people will just love them. Kim sat down at the table playing with pin Gale gave her. It was a mockingjay the pin looked Gold but it was most likely fake. Peeta Sat across from Kim. "Where did you get the pin?" Peeta Asked. "...I got it from my...Friend…" Kim replied. "Oh...I see…" Peeta said. "I think you two should get ready for dinner…" Effie said. Kim and Peeta walked to their rooms. Kim walked in and laid on the bed. "This is too much…" Kim said. She got up and walked over to the closet and put on the first thing she grabbed which was a red dress. she looked at herself in the mirror and spun around. "I guess this looks okay…" She whispered to herself. She walked back to the dining room to see a man drinking. "Who are you?" She asked. "Haymitch...i'm here to train you…" He said. "Train…?" Kim asked. "Yes sweetheart...i'm going to train you on how to make friends...make people like you" Haymitch smiles as he takes a sip from his glass. "Your breath smells like alcohol how much do you drink?" Kim asked. "You ask too many questions sweetheart...that's why people aren't going to like you." Haymitch took another sip from the glass. "I have a name you know." Kim said. Peeta walked into the Dining car and look at both of them. "Oh...who is that?" Peeta asked. "the drunk is our "trainer"...have fun with him." Kim said as she walked to her room.

Kim slammed her door shut. "Ugh…!" She threw her pillow across the room. "This is so dumb." Kim laid down and covered herself from head to toe with the blanket and fell into a deep sleep.

Kim woke up to someone shaking her. "Kim get up...Kim" it was a male's voice. Kim sat up and rubbed her eye. "I'm up, I'm up….Peeta why are you in my room?" Kim asked. "Effie asked me to get you up; we are almost at the Capitol." Peeta said. "Okay...I'll be out soon.." Kim said. Peeta left and Kim crawled out of bed and opened the closet door. Kim took out a black dress that went mid-thigh. She got dressed and walked out to the dining car. "There you are you've been sleeping for a whole day." Effie said laughing a little. Kim just rolled her eyes and sat at the table. Kim picked up a slice of bread and took a bite of it. Kim finished up her bread and looked out the window. "Are we almost there?" Kim said. "We will be there in 5 minutes…" Effie was saying but Kim got up and left.

Kim's POV

"Ugh...she is to happy...Capital trash is what she is. Always happy, watches as kids kill each other for a game. They don't know what happens to the families of the children who get killed. They have to know everyday that their baby died for a game! I am not going die for game! they will not change who i am, and i will not die for someone's joy, for a laugh. so they can make fun of my District, without 12 there would be nothing. Coal brings heat...It is a fire that will never be put out. The only winner 12 have is that drunk Haymitch. Ugh…" I was yelling at myself in my room we weren't at the Capital yet. But I needed some way to get my angry out. I hated the Capital. They took everything from us. We weren't anything to just the District that could be pushed over. But what they didn't know is that everybody feared for each thinking that someone would drop over dead for being so hungry.

I was trying to calm down when someone walked into my room. I looked over and saw Peeta he had a soft smile on his face. I looked at him and screamed "How can you be smiling?! We are going to die in a few days." At this point I was crying. Everything that was ever good to was being forced away from me. I felt arms wrap around my waist i knew it was Peeta. I knew he saw how weak i was. But i didn't care i felt so alone. I wanted to back home. I wanted to be laughing with Katniss. But most of all i wanted to be with Gale. Gale…

~Flashback~

I was walking home when i ran into something and fell. "S-sorry" i Said not looking at them. "It's okay, Hey don't i know you from somewhere?" He said. I knew that voice it was Gale Hawthorne. Why was he talking to me? "Here let me help you up" He said as he grabbed my arm. I flinched but i didn't think he noticed. "I'll walk you home…" He said smiling. I was worried about him walking me home but i told he could.

As we walked he kept talking i would really tell him much.

"What's your name?"

"Kim…"

Do you know Katniss?"

"yes i do…"

"Why don't you talk a lot in school"

"I'm shy..."

"If you're shy how are you talking to me?"

"Because you keep talking to me…"

"You know Kim you look a little weak."

After he said that i stopped "I'm weak?! no i'm not if you knew what i go though then you would i'm not weak! You don't live in a house that beats you up and barely feed you! I'm not weak and i never will be!" I thought in my head but the only thing i could do was let the tears slip past my eyes. "I-I'm n-not weak…" I tried to say but i was crying to hard. He reached out to me but i pushed him and his hand away and ran. I didn't know where to run. I went to the woods still crying. I sat in the tree and let the hot tears run down my face. People call me weak and right now i am but mostly because i've been strong too long.

~End of Flashback~

I looked up at Peeta and pushed him away. "Don't….ever hug me"

"Why? Kim...you were crying...you needed someone to comfort you.."

No...i don't...i look weak when they comfort me." I turned around so i was looking at the window. I watched as the tree flew by. "Get out Peeta...Just leave me alone." I said coldly. I heard the door open and close. I wasn't going to make myself look weak.
