A/N: Filler fluff and the like follows. Aka writer's block, so sorry for the wait let me know what you would like to see next.
Hermione woke to the smell of chocolate vol au vents and a pair of small arms squeezing her tight. When she cracked her eyes open she was met with a curtain of flaming red hair. "Oh Draco," she feigned sleepiness again " you didn't have to bring breakfast not after last night."
"Malfoy? Really well perhaps I'll take my pastries and go somewhere I won't be compared to that prat." The hug ended abruptly and the two girls burst into laughter.
"He wouldn't have brought you vol au vents and tea, would he?" Her companion pouted.
"I wouldn't have eaten them if he did. They are our thing Gin. Just ours. How was training camp?" She asked making room on her bed for her best girl friend.
"Mmm, not as exciting as what's been going on here." Ginny answered, licking the chocolate from her fingers as the girls picnicked in Hermione's bed. She quickly recounted the last weekend to the redhead who was surprisingly quiet until the end.
"Gosh In some twisted way that's sort of romantic. What of his mother?" She asked when Hermione finished telling her about how Draco had brought her home from her father's drew her a bath, ordered her in, went out for take away then sent her to bed inhibriated enough to sleep.
"She was kind when I met her. We are to have tea later this week. I'm not overly worried. My concern is how to broach the legal side of the betrothal with Sirius. Snape insists he should have known better and I doubt it was done maliciously but I doubt he will find anything and I don't want him getting in trouble." Hermione sighed as she placed the empty take away cup on her bedside table.
"Just question him about how it's going then ask him about protocols for pureblood files. If he looks abashed he knew what he was doing if he looks panicked he really was just trying to help. And well you're always asking questions so he won't know you are fishing." Ginny explained.
"See where have you been, clearly I've needed you, but now I have to get ready for work." She shooed the redhead from her bed and set to her morning routine. The pair flooed out together and went their separate ways at the Ministry of Magic. Ginny headed to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to find Harry and Hermione headed in to her office.
Ginny waved passed the receptionist and who was busy with some Aurors who had a clearly intoxicated wizard between them, she had opened the door to Harry's office when she ran stumbled into someone exiting the office. Her reflexes told her to bob and she missed impact with the blond.
"Do all the women in your life neglect to look in front of them Potter." The snark was unmistakably Draco Malfoy's.
"I usually leave the clumsiness to Hermione, but since she was bragging of your catching abilities this morning I had to test her theory, since we never saw it on the qudditch pitch." Ginny chirped making her way over to her boyfriend.
"She bragged about me?" He questioned smirking to himself a bit.
"You went to Hermione's first?" Harry pouted Ginny nodded and kissed him. "Chocolate vol au vents too?"
"From France, she needed me more than you did. Don't worry brought you something too. As for you I'm sure you have been thoroughly threatened where she is concerned just know that anything they have promised you will be like a day at the spa compared to what I will do." Gin gave Draco a glare that rivalled those of her mother when a child misbehaved.
"I can assure you I won't." Draco said before ducking out and across the hall to his own office.
"Tell me more about what you brought me?" Harry asked his arms around her hips and his hands laced behind her back.
Draco checked his watch later that day to find it was already 4:30. He had forgotten to eat lunch, he was working on an affidavit for a muggle case where a squib had been caught smuggling potions into disco techs and drugging women with the potion equivalent of an obilivate. There was a light wrap on his door.
"Draco?" A soft feminine voice came from the other side. "The receptionist said you were still in."
He looked up to see the steely blue eyes of Astoria Greengrass peeking around his semi closed door.
"Astoria, I thought I sent everything via owl, you and Blishwick can run off where ever it is you are going." He said turning back to his papers.
"I was coming to offer my sympathies for your situation with the Granger, Prince, McKinnon oh poppycock I don't know what to call her. Hermione. I'm certain she won't come around easily, and I know you were hoping for an easy life after everything."
"Thank you for your concern Astoria, but things are going quite well actually. We've seen each other a few times and she's having tea with mother this week. We are starting as friends." He looked up as if to dismiss her when she let her Slytherin propriety slide and a genuine smile show.
"I'm glad she makes you happy. I just want you to have what Xavier than I do. Take care." She showed herself out it was then that she ran into the brunette in question. "Hermione."
"Astoria," Hermione replied moving to place her hand on the door until the petite aristocrat grabbed it.
"He loves you at least half way already, don't break his heart, or they will never find what little of you there will be left." With that the younger witch flounced away. Hermione stood there and took a breath, while she was certain her friends had laid down threats to Draco she had been uncertain anyone would do the same for him. She smiled and pushed the door open with a knock.
"Come in," his voice came over his papers, he wrote in muggle pen with legal paper.
"I feel a bit like I've entered another dimension, Astoria Greengrass just threatened me and you are reading muggle paper that you wrote on with a ball point pen." Hermione chuckled.
"Surprisingly enough I do have some friends and this is for case being tried by muggle police." He said placing the paper down and signing the bottom happy with his statement. "It must be the day of threats your good friend Ginny took her shot at me after your little girl date this morning. Potter seemed put out that you were seen first and that she brought you pastries and didn't share."
"Mm, yes chocolate vol au vents are our thing. We shared some Fleur made after getting back from the final battle, we don't share them with anyone else anymore. I came to see if we could see each other this week, my day seemed off not seeing you after you being so much of my day the last three." She explained sitting across from him.
"I'd like that, I'm starving would like to do dinner now?" He asked "I skipped lunch."
"Come to my flat," she offered. "We've spent so much time at yours."
He nodded getting up and setting his statement in his outbox where it sailed off to the right mailslot. She waited for him at the door as he packed his briefcase and they headed out his hand finding the small of her back as they walked to the floo network.
"Hermione!" A voice called from down the hall they both turned to see Sirius jogging to catch up to them.
"Cousin," Draco addressed his fellow Auror and house black family member.
"Draco, can I borrow her for just a second." The blond nodded.
"I'll be right back." She smiled at him and followed Sirius to an empty parade room. "What's wrong Sirius, weren't you going to Jenn's tonight."
"Later, I thought you were going to hold off getting attached to him. I'll get you out of this." He said.
"It's fine he has actually been quiet helpful and kind. How is that coming anyway?" She asked as he leaned against the wall.
"Not as well as I had hoped. Blood magic is not easily broken if at all." Sirius sighed.
"I'll need you to give me a crash course on pureblood ediquette when it comes to house matters I have a few things to take care of for both houses and I'm wanting to do this as properly as possible." She remarked in passing making her way for the door while still watching his face which quickly schooled itself to the most proper polite features she'd ever seen on the maurader.
"Yes, well perhaps Draco can help you with those. It's been awhile for me I may need to brush up as well." He squeezed out as she left.
"I'll see you tomorrow Sirius." She gave him a small hug which he returned before heading back to his office looking awfully sheepish.
"What was that about?" Draco asked.
"Just taking care of something for my father." She smiled. "I was planning on fish and couscous is that alright?" He nodded and smiled his hand finding it's way back to where it had been. Comfortable was nice for now. He could work from there he thought, they would be happy.
