Don't worry guys, I am not dead! Took a long hiatus, that's all. For those who missed my story, sorry for the delay. For those who are new to it, welcome! So without further ado, let us begin!
If you had told me about four years ago that I was going to be a serial killer, I may have believed you. If you had told me that I was going to flee the country into China, I still would probably believed you. Now, if you had told me that I was going to meet this Chinese man and together sneak on a cargo ship to America to see the Mafia, right there I would have called you insane.
This was Yao's idea and I just went with it. Somehow, Yao stole a military uniform and told me his plan later that night.
"Okay," he started, putting the uniform on the coffee table, "Here's the plan. I pretend I'm military personnel needing to search the contents of a cargo hold going to America. That's when you sneak onto the ship and hide. Then I will tell them that it's required of them to allow me to stay on the ship to prevent stowaways and that's how it will work." My eyebrows rose at the plan. Then I picked up the uniform and gave Yao a weird look.
"Um, Yao? This is a woman's uniform."
"What?" Yao snatched the uniform from me then analyzed it. "Aiya, I thought this was a male uniform." I was about to question him on that considering that it had a skirt instead of pants but then I had another thought.
"Well, the plan could still work since you do look like a woman." Yao scowled.
"I don't look like a woman, aru!" He yelled. I laughed at his overreaction. After being around him for a few days, Yao did seem less and less like a woman to me but at first glance, it's kind of hard not think that. "Don't laugh at me, Ivan! I'm not wearing a female uniform!"
"Why not? Anything to get us in America, right?"
"You stupid westerners..." Yao mumbled. I sighed as I tried to think of other ideas.
"I think I have a better idea." I looked up to see Kiku standing behind where Yao was sitting.
"Well?" Yao said. Kiku coughed nervously.
"Well, I happened to have a friend who happens to be in the shipping. He could possibly get you two on board. For a price."
"How much?" I asked.
"About 2000 euros. Each."
"Aiya!" Yao whined, "Tai gui le! Too expensive, aru!"
"It's reasonable considering that he would help you stowaway on a cargo ship." Kiku reasoned. I nodded.
"Okay, let me see if I have that much in rubles."
"No, I'll pay for it," Yao said, "I easily have that much under my mattress."
"Then what was the problem about the price before?" I asked.
"It is expensive, aru!" Later that night, Yao and I bade everyone farewell as we set off into the night. Kiku came with us so we would know where the port was and who his friend was. The drive to Yingkou port was about 10 hours and everyone in the car was exhausted from the little sleep they were allowed to have. Kiku walked us over to the shipyard where we met up a man with brown hair.
"Hello, Kiku," the man said before hugging him. The man was really soft spoken but I could somewhat hear a Greek accent. How does Kiku know all these people?
"Kon'nichiwa, Heracles," Kiku said, blushing from the close contact, "My brother and his friend would like to go to America."
"For freedom, right?"
"You could say that Heracles nodded.
"Okay, that would be 4000 euros for both of you." Yao pulled out the cash.
"It's in yuans, not euros," Yao said, handing Heracles the money. Heracles eyed the money then back at Yao.
"Okay then, let's get you two on the ship." Yao and I then followed Heracles. I was prepared for me to be hoping over things, sneaking around, pretty much all the stuff Yao's plan entailed but if only you saw my expression when we just walked onto the boat. Heracles walked us through the boat's coridor and showed us a room. "This is where you'll be sleeping." I looked around the room and was about to speak but Yao beat me to my statement.
"There's only one bed," Yao said, looking around the room to make sure there wasn't another bed hidden somewhere. Heracles nodded.
"Well, this one," referring to me, "looks to big for the bunkbeds in the other passenger rooms and assumed that you guys might wanted to stay together." Yao opened his mouth to say something else but I cut in before him.
"It's fine, we'll figure something out." Heracles nodded and left the roomlosed the door but when I turned around, I found Yao glaring at me.
"Why would you do that, aru?!" He half yelled at me. I just smiled at the question.
"Well, I don't want to be alone on this huge cargo ship so I wanted you to stay with me." I smiled but Yao frowned.
"There's one bed, Ivan," Yao explained, "Who's sleeping where?" I shrugged.
"I don't care where you're sleeping, but I'm sleeping on the bed," I said, sprauling myself across the bed. Yao scoffed.
"How dare you?! You can't do anything without my help, Ivan." I sat up and looked at Yao. Then I immediately started laughing. "What's so funny, aru?"
"We're fighting over a bed. If it means so much to you," I said as I slid off the bed, "you can have it." Yao looked inbetween me and the bed then bowed his head.
"Thank you," Yao said quietly. I nodded and smiled.
"I'm hungry. Let's go find Heracles and see if he can get us some food." Yao nodded and followed me out of the cabin door.
We returned much later than we expected. Heracles and the other shipmates all kept us entertained. Heracles explained to me that there wasn't much to do on this ship other than do their jobs but, in their free time, they did things like play cards, dominos, or socialize. We did a lot of that today, so Yao and I found out first hand. We came back to our rooms exhausted. We both somewhat changed into nightclothes (I didn't have extra clothes but Yao had a bag of one or two outfits) and got ready for bed. Yao fell on top of the large mattress and sighed in content.
"It's so soft," I heard him whisper then I shook my head at his exhaustion. Then he turned over and looked at me. "Ivan, come up here with me." I instantly froze at the statement.
"Go to sleep, Yao. You're tired." Yao nodded but he didn't go to sleep.
"But, look! The bed is big enough for both of us! I can sleep under the covers and you can sleep on top or vice-versa." I sighed but I did get on top of the covers. Yao was right. The bed was soft but what probably enhanced its softness was both of us being tired. I closed my eyes and let the swaying of the boat lull myself asleep.
I'm going to try my hardest to keep updating this story. I really like the idea of it but I've been so busy that I couldn't update it. Well, please read and review and I will see you next time!
