Chapter 19

A few days have passed since Draco last saw Hermione. According to Pansy, she heard from Ron that Hermione and Isabella will be staying for a few more days at the Burrow.

"You've been awfully close with Weasley lately Pansy. Is there something going on with you two?" Draco asked.

"What? Me and Weasley? Close? Yeah right." Answered Pansy, blushing slightly.

"You're blushing."

"No I'm not. It's just make-up" She said shyly as she touched her cheeks.

He was having fun teasing her. "You're acting like a teenager"

"Sod off Draco. I know you're not asking for an update but I just wanted to let you know. So stop messing around!" Said Pansy as she stormed out of his office.

Draco was walking along with Blaise in Diagon Alley – which is very unlikely of him. He wanted to be as busy as possible, to help get his mind off Hermione and his daughter. Besides, Blaise asked him to come with him so he can pick up a gift for his niece's birthday.

They both head their way to Madam Malkins, Blaise decided on getting some dress robes for his niece.

As they went inside, Draco left Blaise to talk to one of the tailors. He was browsing some of the ready-made dress robes for children, thinking those would look great on Isabella, his thought was interrupted as he felt someone was tugging on his pants. Looking down, he saw a little girl.

"Mister, mister." Said the little girl.

He didn't say anything. But just continued looking at her. She had black short hair, her big brown eyes looking up at him.

"Mister, mister." Said the little girl again.

"Yes?" He asked.

"Can you help me get that blue dress?" She said pointing her small little fingers on one of the dresses. "My mommy is busy talking over there. I want that dress but I can't reach it."

Draco smiled at her and handed her the dress. "Is there anything else you need?"

The little girl shook her head, thanked him and started to walk back to her mother as she happily carried her dress. She was walking mid-way when she stopped and looked back at him again and waved her little hands goodbye.

Draco smiled at her and waved back.

"You miss them don't you?" Asked Blaise who saw the whole interaction between Draco and the little girl.

'Like crazy.' He sighed. "Come on, we need to get back to the office." He said giving him a small smile.

It was late night at the Burrow, everyone else is already sleeping except for Hermione. She was laying on the bed while hugging Isabella who was already sound asleep or so she thought.

"Mommy. Are you awake?"

"Yes honey?"

"Why didn't you tell me?" Isabella asked, rolling on the other side to see her mother's face.

"Tell you what?" She asked confused.

"About Draco"

"What about him?" Hermione asked again. Still confused as to where this was going.

"He's my dad isn't he?"

She didn't answer.

"Isn't he?" Isabella asked again. Hoping for an answer. "I heard you and grandma talking. Is he really my dad?" Still Hermione kept quiet. Isabella gave up, rolled back to the other side so that her back was facing Hermione.

Hermione just hugged her tighter and answer quietly. "Yes he's your dad."

At the same, Draco was sleeping alone in his king-size bed. He felt more lonely and alone during times like this. He remembered their days back at Hogwarts. Those were the times that he will never forget. He remembered the day Hermione told him that she was pregnant.

He remembered her face when he told her to give up the baby. He was acting stupid, immature and selfish. But he also got scared, scared of what might his father think of him. If he only acted differently. So many if's running on his mind. He was getting frustrated.

Sighing loudly. He stood up, opened the drawer on his nightstand and pulled out a picture of Isabella and Hermione. On the picture that looks like it was taken a few feet away, there was Hermione holding a two year old Isabella. Both of them laughing as they blew on Isabella's birthday cake.

- Flashback -

After a few years of searching he found Hermione. He apparated just outside their house. There were balloons on the front door, a large white table setup on the garden, a pink cake on the middle and a banner that says "Happy Birthday Isabella!"

He wondered if that was his daughter, he was about to knock when he heard footsteps. He panicked and hid behind the oak tree that was near their house.

After a few seconds of waiting, his world stopped. He saw Hermione wearing a yellow Sunday dress, she was holding a child. 'My daughter' he thought, they were just a few feet away from him. He wanted to see her, he wanted to come closer but he couldn't move.

"Mom! Are the food ready?" Hermione shouted. "The party will start in an hour."

"Yes food is ready, Hold on" said her mother as she put down the food on the table. "Now, let me see that beauty." She said, referring to Isabella. "I can't believe that she's already a year older."

"I know. If only I can stop time." Said Hermione stroking Isabella's cheek.

"It would've been a lot better if her father was here."

"No Mom. He doesn't deserve her. He's a soul-less person. He wouldn't know what's good for him even if it's right in front of his face and poked him in the eye."

"That's harsh" said her mother.

It is. Draco thought. But it's also true. He's a git for telling her to give up their baby. Who in their right mind will forgive him? Definitely not Hermione.

He stayed behind the oak tree for a couple more hours watching the kids play. His eyes fixed on Hermione and Isabella. He came out after the party was done, walked to the front door and left a flower - a purple Hyacinth. He knocked on the door and as soon as he heard Hermione's voice, he instantly left.

After that day, Draco has been secretly coming back to see Hermione and Isabella. He comes back every week, hiding behind the oak tree. Sometimes he stays for a minutes just to get a glance, sometimes he stays longer. It was enough for him.

- End of flashback -

No one knew of this. No one knew that he was cowardly watching the love of his life and his beautiful daughter from afar.

Back at Harry's wedding, that was the first time he talked to Isabella. Seeing his daughter up close, seeing the little details on her face. Oh how she grew up to be so beautiful, smart and brave. Just like her mother.

And when he saw Hermione in the kitchen, her back was to him but his heart almost jumped out of his chest because he was very nervous. He couldn't believe that she was just inches away from him.

But now, he came back to this. Back to just looking at their picture. Back to nothing. Loneliness.

After a week of staying at the Burrow Hermione and Isabella went back to their usual lives in London. Promising Ron and Harry that she'll write and visit them more often.

Isabella didn't asked her about Draco anymore. She thought she would, she tried to prepare herself for Isabella's question but she never asked.

She knew that her daughter was also having a hard time. She knew that Isabella misses Draco very much, just like her. But she won't admit it. She firmly believed that it would better for all of them to just go back to how it was before. She's perfectly fine taking care of Isabella on her own.

While she was cleaning up Isabella's room, she was looking at her drawings. On the drawing was stick figures of her, Harry and Ron, both of them smiling and on the bottom 'Uncle Harry and Uncle Ron' was written. On the next drawing it was Isabella riding on a broomstick, on the next was Mrs. Weasley with a plate of cookies.

On the last drawing though, it was a drawing of Draco holding hands with Isabella. On the bottom of the page it just says 'Daddy'. Hermione stared at the drawing, as tears flowed down her cheeks.

"Hermione! Dinner is ready! Come down here! Your daughter is waiting!" Her mother shouted from downstairs.

She broke out from her thoughts and managed to say "Okay mom!"

She was about to place Isabella's drawing on her nightstand drawer when she noticed something purple. Confused, she pulled out the drawer and saw two stems of Hyacinth. She remembered that she got the same flower a few years ago.

On the stem of flower it had a green ribbon with a very faint silver writing 'Happy Birthday. -DM'

'DM?' Only one person came to her mind. He knew. She found herself smiling as she ran down the stairs.

"Hermione! Hurry-"

"Mom!"

"Oh you're here. Come on, sit down already." Said her mother as she put down Hermione's plate.

"I have to go Mom. I won't be long." She said frantically looking for her coat.

"Why? Where are you going?"

"He knew Mom. He knew! I'll be back!" Was all Hermione said as she left the room with a 'pop'.

Annnnnnddd DONE! Just kidding!

Ok so don't hurt me. For those whose a bit confused, so if you read the previous chapters there was a part there when Draco first saw Isabella and acted like it was the first time he saw her. It wasn't. He was pretending that it was. Because he didn't want anyone to know that he was secretly watching (not stalking, maybe a little bit haha) Hermione and Isabella. BUT it was the first time that he saw her up close.

I know, I said on the previous chapters that 2 more chapters and then it will be complete. I've decided to add one more chapter to complete the story. (Maybe two, i'm not sure yet. But I'm just having fun writing again so we'll see how it goes.)

Please let me know what you guys think. Don't forget to review! :) x
