Chapter 9 Let me love you
Kagome stood in her ceremonial black and red robes and with her scathe in hand. The robes were mostly black before shading into a deep red at the bottom and on the ends of the robes. It looked much like a yukata expect it was longer and with a beautiful train. Her seamstress had made it for her and Rin along with Sesshomaru. And Kagome rewarded him with a raise and a day off. The old skeleton smiled at her kindness before bowing and leaving her. She even wore the pendant Sesshomaru gave her on her birthday. A giant crowd could be heard outside in the ballroom the curtain hid for which she was about to walk through. Sesshomaru and Rin stood dressed up in hers and his colors as well in the same design minus the train on Sesshomaru's outfit. She smiled at them both as she rubbed Homaru's head as he sat in his father's arms. He was dressed in a red outfit that looked much like Kagome's except smaller.

Kagome looked up and smiled at the father of her child. "Are you guys ready?" She asked grabbing her scathe.
Sesshomaru nodded before grabbing Rin's hand.
Rin smiled at her father before looking at Kagome with a loving smile.
"I almost forgot to give you these." Clapping her hands, she waited as the servants brought three big jewelry boxes.
Walking over to the servants quickly, she opened the first box to show a necklace along with a ring and bracelet. The whole set was made of fire amber and clinohumite with Sphalerite and shaped into butterflies of each piece of the set. The gems were made for the use of a very special little princess that Kagome had had her jeweler working on. She looked to Rin with a bright smile before waving her over. Rin confusedly walked over to the woman as Kagome squatted in front of her.
"Rin I had these hand made for you. These gems are made from a rare material found here in the Underworld. And I wanted to give them to you. Because you mean so much to me, I wanted to be able to protect you when I can't be there. These gems are infused with my power and your father's youki in case something happens. These will give you the power to protect your brother like I know you can." Kagome stated putting the necklace around her neck and hooking it up. The bracelet went next around her left wrist and the ring on her right wedding finger. They glowed in her power and will making a bright orange light.
Rin stared at the gems on her before hugging Kagome tightly. "Thank you very much momma! They are so pretty. Rin will never take them off. Rin loves them too much." She stated in excitement.
Kagome smiled brightly again as Rin let her go before looking at her son. Smiling at her boy, she walked over to the smaller jewelry box before opening it. Pulling out a Fire agate and Imperial Topaz chain with a plain fire agate band to go around his left middle finger, she walked over to her son before kissing his head.
"My little baby reaper, I had these made for you. These gems are to show of your power to me and your father. These are a pretty common here in the Underworld but mommy made them special for you. Just like your sister's, I have my power and your father youki in these bands. You will always be protected." She kissed his forehead before placing the chain on his neck and the fire agate band on his finger. The gems glowed at the recognition of his power in a deep orange/ red light.
Kagome stood and smiled at the last one. She had saved him for last for a good reason. The man she loved deserved the best. Turning to the last jewelry box, she opened the box and tried to contain her happiness. This was so perfect for him. Pulling out a Melanite, Amber, and Pyrope garnet necklace, she sighed deeply before walking toward him.
"There's nothing in the world that I can give you that can repay you for what you have done for me Sesshomaru. You didn't let me stay in that dark place. You have saved my life multiple times and even gave me a son, a happy healthy son who resembles you and me together that I could never replace. Even if you decide you want to leave the Underworld forever, I still want you to have these. So don't ever forget me or your son. These will send you messages from me if I ever need to contact you and vice versa." She smiled before placing the chain with a huge Pyrope garnet in the center of the beautifully crafted necklace. A plain band made of Melanite was placed around on his left middle finger as well. She leaned up and kissed his cheek before turning to her servants to dismiss them.
Sesshomaru stood there holding his son mentally confused. How could she think he would leave her now? After everything they been together, she really thought he would leave her? She had given him a son and the gifts he was currently wearing. In his breed that meant she wanted to be with him if they were exchanging gifts. He had given her a pendent and she had given him a chain. Shaking his head at the thought, he wondered if she loved him like he loved her. And he thought he did.
Kagome smiled as she nodded to one of the servants. The old shadow moved to tell the guard their ruler was ready. Slamming his staff on the ground three times, he waited as everyone got quiet. He silently wondered why all these nobilities were here like they liked the Grim Reaper. Most had stayed away from Death as much as possible but he guessed curiosity got the best of the Underworld people. Still he hoped, she would maintain the reputation of Death. So far she had been doing an excellent job in demonstrating her power to her rivals.
"Now announcing, the Grim Reaper, Death herself." He shouted in the quiet room.

Everyone turned to the giant black curtain moving up. The crowd was in awe at the way Death looked on this night. Her hair was down her back in an ebony stream and her black eyes seemed to sparkle with joy as she looked upon them with kindness yet with a challenge. It seemed like she dared anyone to challenge her on this night or any night. Death had always been out for blood, so it didn't surprise most that she was looking for it as well. She took a step forward before planting her scathe in the ground.
"My citizens of the Underworld it is with great joy that I introduce the royal family, or better known as my family." Kagome smiled. She looked everyone before turning to look behind her. "This is my daughter Rin." She said motioning for Rin to come to her. Rin moved gracefully like she had practiced and bowed before the crowd. They clapped at her softly she looked endearing. "This is my son, Homaru." He stared at everyone placidly before looking over her shoulder. He got a few ah's from the crowd. "And the youkai behind me is my best friend, my heart and soul, my life, the father of my son, Sesshomaru." He stepped up and nodded to the crowd before stepping behind her, their son held close to his chest in caution. This was her domain not his and he knew that. The crowd looked at the regal looking youkai standing next to their ruler with surprise. She kept that kind of company? "And I am Kagome, the Grim Reaper. Enjoy the festivities." She stated grabbing her scathe and moving to her throne.
Sesshomaru followed her. He helped her sit down with a nod. His eyes looked to all of the beings beginning to dance to the musicians hired to play. Many of these beings kept eyeing him and some even attempting to flirt with him with their eyes and promised some pleasurable things but he paid no heed to them. His mind was on their powerful ruler who he knew on a personal level. She had really thought of him like that? He smelt no lie coming from her. Was he really her best friend? But he didn't want to be best friends. He wanted her to want him like he wanted her. His eyes moved to his son, who stared at him briefly before putting his thumb in his mouth and turning to look at the crowd. His eyes looked down at their ruler and raised a brow at her cheery smile.

"What?" He asked.
"I have a surprise." She stated clapping her hands.
The black sheets moved to show two chairs and one was slightly bigger than hers. There was a little one placed on the side of hers. All of the thrones were made of bones of thousands. Skulls sat on top of the back with candles glowing in them. Rubies, sapphires, and grant decorated both big thrones, while pearls and moonstones decorated Rin's throne. Red velvet leather was used as a cushion except Rin's throne, hers was orange. Kagome stood and grabbed Sesshomaru's arm before seating him in his throne. She watched him visibly relax with their son on his chest. A smile crossed her face as she moved to let Rin sit in her throne. Rin squealed in happiness before sitting like Kagome had taught her. Kagome shook her head and sat back in her throne to watch the party goers.
Sesshomaru touched her hand with his soft one.
Kagome looked up at her… what? She didn't know what to call him but she still looked up. He stood and grabbed her hand gently. Kagome was confused but planted her scathe in the ground. Did he want something? Her eyebrow raised in question when he placed a sleeping Homaru in Rin's hands. She quietly let him lead her off the throne steps and onto the ballroom floor. A smile crossed her face when she realized that he wanted to dance with her.

The musicians began to play something soft and beautiful and the others parted as they watched their ruler dance. It was beautiful. They contrasted each other greatly but they complimented each just as well. Soon many other couples joined the slow dance that seemed to be taking everyone's breath away. They were dazzling and moved like they were one. It was hard to believe their ruler and a youkai were… what? Courting? No one knew of what they were to each other.
When the song ended the party guest cheered.
Sesshomaru bowed at the Grim Reaper before kissing her hand. She blushed brightly before looking up at her son and daughter. Rin was rocking Homaru gently but she looked afraid. Both Kagome and Sesshomaru took in her fear. Quickly they made their way to her.

"Rin." Kagome called.
Rin looked up with tears in her eyes as she kept rocking Homaru. Her gems were lighting up in a barrier around Homaru as she tried to remain calm.
Sesshomaru was confused. Why did he smell blood?
Kagome narrowed her eyes before picking up on the scent of blood. Looking close there was a barb pricking Rin's skin. She couldn't move or get up if she wanted to too. Growling, Kagome followed the barb to the witch holding it there. The witch was invisible but the ripples her magic sent off gave her away. Grabbing her scathe, she slammed it on the ground. The red power rippled against the witch and she moved the barb. Sesshomaru grabbed his children quickly before moving to the other side of the battle.
"How dare you harm my daughter?" Kagome hissed making the red energy strip her arms and legs of skin. She slipped off the beautiful gown to reveal her regular attire. Her skeleton legs and arms could be seen and the crowd could only watch as the Grim Reaper emitted waves of harsh energy that seemed to rage against everything especially the witch.

The witch hissed back. "How dare you bring those disgusting things here to the Underworld?" Raising her staff to try and counter it with green energy. But it was quickly swallowed and released back to the witch.
Kagome point her scathe at the witch's neck. "I warned you witch. I told you to not disturb me. You have harmed my children and insulted my love. Now you will suffer the consequences." Kagome ripped a portal open through the witch and it slowly but painfully swallowed her. The skeleton cried out in agony before she disappeared.
Kagome turned to the crowd of guest watching in horror. "Is there anyone else who wishes to challenge me and my family? If you wish to hurt my love and children, I will make sure your end is far from pleasant. And since I am Death, I can revive you and make it happen as many times as I want." She paused and scanned the crowd. "Is there no one else?" She asked narrowing her eyes. "Fine. Continue with the party."

Kagome sat in her chambers with her family resting in her giant bed. Sesshomaru had taken care of Rin and Homaru and they were fast asleep. Kagome stood at her mirror looking at herself and her bone hands. That witch thought she could harm her children and get away with it? She was dumber than she originally thought. Shaking her head, she rubbed her bone hands across her face before looking to the thinking Sesshomaru. He looked up at her with a question but she turned and left for a bath.
Sesshomaru had heard what she had said. She considered him her love? Was that more than a mere fantasy when he heard her whisper her love into his ear when he needed to save her? The loving way she looked at him had him questioning if he loved her. Of course he liked Kagome. She was passionate and smart. Her mind and soul were unique and she was herself without apology. He loved it. Her love for Rin and Homaru was unparalleled with that of any woman before her to meet Rin. She was the mother of his heir and had given him a full blooded youkai with some of her powers. He hated it when boys at the school stared at her when mere months ago they tortured her. When Koga dragged in her that room, he panicked at the thought of him hurting her. But the question was… did he love her? Everything in him told him he did and his heart swelled at the thought that she had made it public that she loved him too. When she returned he would make sure she loved him before he put himself out there. Because only he, not that hellion or Inuyasha and Koga, could possess Kagome. No one else.

Kagome walked in the room with a deep sigh. She wore a covering on her breast and waist as she rubbed lotion on her face. Her body jumped in surprise when she felt warm hands grace her shoulders. Looking up at the towering youkai, she smiled before finishing her lotion. Turning around to look at him, she cocked her head to the side as her smile died. Was something the matter? Just when she was about to open her mouth and speak, his lips were upon her. She was momentarily shocked but soon returned the kiss before pushing him away with a slight pant. Yet he remained close to her with his hands around her waist.
"Sesshomaru are you okay?" Kagome asked softly still trying to catch her breath.
"I love you Kagome. Do you love me Kagome?" He asked his gold eyes revealing the hopefulness and hesitancy to her.
"I do love you." She paused. "You gave me a son and helped me pick myself up when I was down for the count. You will always be my friend." She smiled at him.

He frowned. "No, not like a friend."
"Then what do you mean?" She asked. Oh she knew what he meant but it was just so much fun to mess with him.
He growled softly, she knew what he meant. "Stop your games woman."
She giggled before wrapping her arms around his neck with a soft sigh. "Yes Sesshomaru, I love you with all my heart and my very soul."

"Good. Then no one can have you but me." He stated kissing her lips deeply.
"No one but you." She whispered against his lips.
He picked her up and carried her to her full bed. Lying down on an area that wasn't surrounded by Rin since Homaru was in his crib, Sesshomaru pulled Kagome to his chest with a deep sigh. Kagome inhaled his thunderstorm like scent before closing her eyes. She really did love this man. But she wanted to know something that she had been dying to ask. And what a better time to ask than right now?
"Hey Sesshomaru," She called softly.
"Yes?" He acknowledged.
"Before Homaru was born and you had to have sex with me, who were you thinking about?" She asked nonchaltly.
Sesshomaru stiffened before relaxing. "You love. I thought about everything you do that turns me on."
Kagome giggled. "Is that so?"
"Yes why?" he asked.

"Tomorrow I'm getting me a guard dog for the castle. While NAT is great, I need a much bigger threat. You want to come with me to the Hades domain after school?" She asked with an excited grin.
"But of course love." He said kissing her temple.
"I love you Sesshomaru." She whispered sleepily.
"I love you as well Kagome." He whispered back.
