Chapter 11: The Red
Kagome sat on her throne thinking hard about her parents. Maybe she was too hard on them for what they have done. Her eyes began to catch fire. No she was right to be angry. There was no feeling sorry for any of them. They knew something could have happened to her. Letting out a snort, she sat back. There was not a warning, nor a goodbye. She woke up the next morning to find them gone. Every last piece of them had disappeared. She let out a scoff as she stood with her scathe in hand. Just as she made it onto the court floor a voice stopped her.
"What could the beautiful Reaper be so upset about?" a familiar voice spoke into her court.
Her eyes turned to see the handsome hellion leaning on one of her pillars. He had a charming smile plastered on his covered face. His arms were folded across his chest casually. She shook her head as she turned her full body to him. Something about him seemed off, more so than usual.
"It is nothing." She replied softly.
"Nothing?" he asked raising a brow.
"Yes." She answered frowning slightly.
"No sir, you are clearly upset. I am all ears sir." He smiled at her.
Kagome sighed. "I am fine. Thank you." She nodded. He seemed pushy today.
He pushed off the pillar and began walking toward her. Once he was near her, he bowed before her while smiling. "Sir, may I have permission to ask you a personal question?" he asked softly.
"You may." She agreed while crossing her arms.
The hellion stood, almost towering over her. "What is that youkai to you? Is he your toy? Maybe he is merely here out of duty." he asked his eyes trailing her. "Does he actually make love to your very core and leave you satisfied?"
Kagome raised a brow. "Weren't you at my party for my son?"
"I was not sir." He answered slyly.
"If you had been there, you would know that I love that youkai. He is my heart." She explained unnecessarily. "And yes, he does satisfy me on every level."
"But does he return the affection?" the hellion asked stepping closer to her. His red and yellow eyes peered at her with something swimming in those sunny depths.
"I do." Sesshomaru's voice cut in.

The hellion raised his head with a sigh. "Is that so youkai? I do not believe you are fit for our ruler. She needs someone that understands that demonic nature in which she lives under constantly."
"How are you so sure in what she needs?" Sesshomaru asked walking out the shadows.
"As a hellion, I am quite familiar with a rulers needs." He answered winking at Kagome.
She raised a brow at him as Sesshomaru spoke once more.
"I am quite familiar with what my mate needs." Sesshomaru threw back.
"But you don't love her. Give her to someone that can return the affection." The hellion growled getting annoyed.
"Even if I did not love her… why would I give her to you?" Sesshomaru questioned boredly but noting the hellion's growing hostility.
"Simply because, I could give her anything a woman in her position could ever want."
Sesshomaru rolled his eyes. "My mate has no time for ambitious little hellions trying to get a rut."
"And my, isn't she a good rut?" The hellion purred.
Sesshomaru smirked. "That is just something you will never know."
"You're so sure?"
"Indeed."
The hellion quickly grabbed Kagome before planting a kiss on her lips.
Just as fast Sesshomaru had Kagome up in her throne chair.
The hellion transformed into a giant black dog. His body nearly touched the top of the ceiling. Those glowing red and yellow eyes held annoyance yet arrogance. He growled at Sesshomaru tauntingly. Sesshomaru scoffed before turning to look at his mate. Kagome smiled at him.
So lay down

"Go on Sesshomaru. Show him who the superior dog is. Show my entire kingdom, who I belong too." She smiled, the dark nature of her power swirled around her. It was hilarious this hellion thought he could defeat her mate.
Sesshomaru nodded to her before he let the red bleed into his eyes. His pristine white coat twinkled in low lights of the palace. His red eyes stared at the hellion in superiority as he rolled his neck. It was a waste of time for this fight but he had to prove that Kagome was his. No one was allowed to ever have her. She was his, for all of time.
With a snap of Kagome's fingers, everyone was at the Hall of the Fights. It looked much like the Coliseum but far more foreboding and medieval looking. Kagome sat high in her throne next to giant statues of the Reapers before her. Her son was in her hands just watching the roaring crowd that gathered at their lord's call. Rin sat beside her in awe as she looked at her father prepare to fight. Kagome looked at the people gathered with an excited sigh. Watching her mate fight for her was making her smile. Homaru made a chirping sound at Sesshomaru, and his father looked at him with the same chirping sound. Standing up, she held Homaru to the side of her body. The crowd roared at her appearance. Rin stood and walked to stand along her mother.
"My people, it is my duty to announce a challenge for my hand." She smiled. The crowd hollered and howled in excitement. Kagome raised her hand with a smile. "The Youkai versus The Hellion for my hand and crown as the King for Reaper." The crowd erupted in noise at the promise of bloodshed for their ruler's hand. "May favor be in your corner." She smiled as she and Rin sat back down in their thrones.
A guard walked in the middle of the two huge animals with a battle axe. Holding it high into the air, the crowd silenced in anticipation. The guard made eye contact with both of them before he slammed the axe down into the arena. Kagome's power hissed up from the ground and surrounded both of them before shooting up and exploding into colorful works. The crowd oo'ed and awed as the colors danced with each other.
Sesshomaru and the hellion circled each other slowly with one of them growling. Sesshomaru did not move when the hellion snapped at his legs. Shaking his head, he continued to circle the hellion till the hellion lifted his head up to howl. Sesshomaru rammed him into the wall. The hellion hit the wall with a great force but stood up once more. He charged at Sesshomaru snapping his jaws, Sesshomaru swatted him away before tackling him onto the ground. Sesshomaru clawed at his face before he was kicked off. Sesshomaru slid but was still standing causing a dust cloud. The hellion with blood on his snout stood and howled in anger before he shot a blast from his mouth. Sesshomaru took off in a run leaving the wall to be impacted by the blast. With a bark, Sesshomaru let out a blast of his own that hit the hellion in leg.
This change,

He gives into most
Shaking off the blast, the hellion charged at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru getting annoyed at the hellion's ambition, charged as well. The two head butted repeatedly and as teeth and claws were added. The hellion slashed Sesshomaru across the face but Sesshomaru seemed unbothered by it as his jaws clamped around his neck. Picking the hellion up, he slammed him into the ground before being picked back up and slammed into the wall. The crowd roared in awe as the youkai let out a chirp for his son before charging at the now standing hellion. The hellion side stepped Sesshomaru but Sesshomaru wasn't so foolish. Quickly adjusting his speed, he grabbed the hellion by the top of skull before he let out a blast the hit him dead on in the head. The hellion still had some fight even after the hit. Sesshomaru let another blast hit him directly in the head again. The hellion was barely breathing as Sesshomaru dropped him.
"You think I would give up that easily?" he choked out trying to stand. "If I cannot have her… no one can." The hellion vowed standing and moving to shot a beam at the Reaper. Kagome was talking to a servant while moving Homaru to be placed with Rin.
Sesshomaru thought fast. He jumped up to his mate and put himself in front of her throne. Kagome was confused till she saw a bright light headed their way. Looking to his red eyes, she let her power guard them as the blast hit. She had to hold it as the beam seemed to get stronger from him getting closer. Looking at her son, she let out a call before closing her eyes and pulling the energy from within. Pushing the beam back into his mouth, the hellion exploded into bits and pieces.
The crowd was silent before they erupted in cheer once more. Sesshomaru changed back into his humanoid form with blood coming from the scratches on his nose. Picking up his son and Rin, he turned to his mate who was breathing hard. Embracing her tightly, he let her catch her breath on his chest. Once she had it, she smiled up at him.
"You sly dog you." She whispered before placing a kiss on his cheek.
He smiled softly at her.
Kagome turned to the awaiting crowd with a smile. "Your champion: The Youkai."
The crowd roared loudly at the winner. Sesshomaru raised his hand in a wave before kissing Kagome passionately.

Kagome stared at the dying boy in anger. How dare someone do this to a child?! He was maybe less than 7 years old but the scars on his body would haunt her. Chains were placed around his neck, wrist, and ankles. Memories flashed through her mind of her imprisonment but she pushed them off. Her body shook with anger as she picked up the living creature. Her scathe glowed brightly to take his soul. Though he was almost gone, something in her would not allow her to just collect this soul. He opened his green eyes slightly to look at her before opening his mouth. Nothing came out. Kagome could no longer sit there with him in her hands. Taking a deep breath, she breathed her power into his body. It filled his body till he breathing returned to normal. Breaking his chains off from his body, she cut a portal open and walked through it to her kingdom.
Upon arrival, she was greeted to Rin surrounding her legs.
"Hey Mom." She greeted happily.
"Hey, Rin." Kagome greeted back with a smile.
"Who's that?" Rin asked looking at the child in her hands.
"This is your new older brother." Kagome stated looking over the broken child in her hands.
"When am I going to get a sister?" Rin asked with a sigh.
Kagome chuckled. "I'll talk to your father. But for now come. We need to get him to the infirmary."
Rin nodded and followed her mother to the infirmary.

"Have you found anything NAT?" Kagome asked looking out her window at her dark kingdom.
"I have sir." He nodded.
"Good. Parents?"
"Murdered."
Kagome narrowed her eyes. "Youkai trafficking?"
"Yes."
Kagome's teeth clenched. "The cause of his injuries?"
NAT paused. "Sir, I do not believe you should hear it."
Kagome turned toward being. "That bad huh?"
"It is terrible sir." He sighed.
Kagome nodded. "When the child awakens, bring him to me."
"Yes, sir." NAT bowed before walking out room.

(30 minutes later)
"Sir, you asked that the boy be brought to you upon awakening." A maid bowed respectfully holding the boy's hand. Kagome's back was turned to them.
"Yes, thank you Neil." She nodded.
"You are welcome sir." She smiled before letting the boy's hand go.
Kagome turned from the widow to stare at the boy. Awake, his green eyes sparkled like emeralds. Auburn hair was held at in a low ponytail. The hair nearly touched his thighs. A black lion cloth was dressed on his behalf from his nakedness earlier. She softened her eyes when she noticed a sparkling fang poking out his top lip. He was so young.
"Come, sit. You must be hungry correct?" she asked moving to the table full of food.
He hesitantly walked toward the table and sat at the cushion on her left. His eyes looked down at his plate mutely. What was this place? Who was this woman? And why did she feel so powerful?
"What is your name child?" she asked with a lot of patience.
"My name is Shippo." He answered softly.
"I'm Kagome, the ruler of this palace and the entire kingdom." She smiled.
"You are the Grim Reaper?" he asked in fear.
"I am. But I have not collected your soul. Promise." She winked.
"How am I here?"
Kagome sighed. "I saved you and brought you back here."
He nodded. "Thank you." He was supposed to be dead. After all the beatings, they were starting to be felt on his body. But not as bad as it should have been.
She smiled again. "You are most welcome."
"What are you going to do to me?" he whispered.
Kagome bit down the anger that was trying to rise. She wasn't angry at him at all but the things those youkai had put him through. Shaking her head, she relaxed. "I want to raise you here with my other two children. You have a sister who is two years younger than you and a brother six years younger than you."
A sliver a smile appeared. "I get a family?"
She nodded. "You even get a father. He is a youkai much like you."
His eyes twinkled as tears formed. "Can I hug you?" he almost whispered.
Kagome nodded.
Shippo embraced Kagome tightly as tears fell from his eyes. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." He repeated as she patted his head. Once he released her, he looked at all the food before looking back at her with a shy smile. "Can I eat now?" he asked a few tears slipping down his face still.
Kagome let out a teary smile as she wiped his tears. "Of course. I will send in your sister and father." She stated standing only to disappear into the hallway.

"I beg you Reaper, forgive me please!" he pleaded.
"Death does not forgive." Kagome growled shoving her hand into his chest. Pulling out the soul in which the body was holding she crushed it between her bloody claws. She scanned over the dead bodies in which she had killed herself. Her skin was on fire from the rage she felt but it was made better by the fact that she took care of the ones that hurt her new son. He was in her care now.
Shaking her head, she cut open a portal before stepping back into her palace. She walked down the halls of her corridor to his room. Softly opening the door, she let out a soft smile at the sleeping boy. He seemed to enjoy his new room with many things he requested. Nodding her head, she closed the door silently before heading to her own. She walked into her room and plopped down on the bed with an exhausted sigh. Moving her head to the side, she watched her new son walk into her room. Sitting up, she hid her bloody hand behind her back as he stood before her.
"What is wrong Shippo?" Kagome asked softly.
"I just wanted to thank you for taking me in Kagome. This really means a lot to me that you gave me family when mine was taken from me." He spoke as he sat beside her.
Kagome frowned. "You remembered that?"
"Not till Sesshomaru-sama came and talk to me." he answered.
As of he was summoned by Shippo, Sesshomaru walked into the room hold in Rin close to his chest. She slept against his chest comfortably as he came and sat beside her on the other side. His eyes seemed sadder but maybe that was just her. She raised a brow at him.
"You knew his parents?"
He nodded. "We were family friends."
Kagome sighed deeply before turning to Shippo.
"What did you find out?"
Shippo eyes looked to the ground. "I found that they were killed one night on the way out to an event at the Tashio Firm. I was sold to an underground rink where I was under my current master."
Kagome shook her head as she brought out her bloody arm. "And they paid with their soul for what they have done to you and countless youkai children."
"You killed them?" he asked surprised.
"I am the Reaper Shippo. I have the final say in who lives and dies just like I have done with you. My scathe was ready to take your soul but I could not do it hence why you are alive now." Kagome explained standing.
"Thank you. Thank you so much." Shippo cried as he jumped up into Kagome's body.
Kagome was confused but hugged him back. "You're welcome."
"Kagome, I need to speak with you." Sesshomaru spoke up as he stood. Rin was placed behind him.
Kagome nodded before pulling away from Shippo. "You are safe here okay? My castle is well guarded and I will give you a good life." She smiled.
He nodded to her before reaching up and kissing her cheek causing her eyes to widen. He smiled brightly to her as he walked out the room to his room.
Sesshomaru grabbed her bloody hand. "I think you should talk to your parents again."
Kagome pulled her hand away. "What? Why?"
